I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.
There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.
MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk
If you need help in obtaining medication, phone them on:
024 7638 2020
Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy
I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.
Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

meadow that list is almost identical to the list I could stomach at the start! I remember thinking my due date was aeons away and still feels it sometimes but I have got to 22 weeks now and can see a bit of light at the end of the tunnel. Moving off the bottom of the dd list helped.
Hope your DH gets a job soon, you really just need to focus on you, as shit and lonely as it is.

door and blue hope those lost plugs are a good sign!! onnatures ditto your achy back and pains!

shehz relapse twins!

justtheonethen · 03/11/2017 16:26

I meant to say I got gingered today, by the bloody midwife when I phoned to change my GTT date! I had asked her if I could take my meds to double check and she said no, I told her I wasn't doing it then as I would get too sick and she said "have you tried ginger biscuits in the morning rather than taking tablets?" Angry.
Anyway. Turns out I can take the meds, obviously. Not being done now until I'm 33 weeks, seems late? The letter said between 24 and 32 weeks but the midwife said that was wrong and it's up to 34 weeks Hmm.

BlueButTrue · 03/11/2017 16:43

I really need a hand to hold, I can’t take this anymore. Since last night I can’t even lay down without a huge acid reflux coming up.

It feels like really bad heartburn, and then it makes me gag and I projectile vomit. Everything I try to eat has a perfume taste, as if someone has sprayed perfume into the back of my mouth. Even water is like it.

It’s weird because I don’t feel the surge of nausea and need to vomit until I feel the acid coming up.

Is this acid reflux? It doesn’t feel like my usual HG symptoms, of which I feel sick with.

I feel like I’m starving and my tummy is constantly rumbling but everything I eat causes so much acid, doesn’t matter what it is and it all tastes vile Sad

I just want this over with.

Hope everyone else is having a better time today Flowers

BlueButTrue · 03/11/2017 16:46

justtheonethen you should have said, “have you tried being more sensible around HG patients or do you always spout useless advice?”

Sorry, that sounds horrible. But it annoys me when someone is really suffering and their Midwife is being thick.

Natsku · 03/11/2017 16:49

Acid coming up whenever you lie down certainly sounds like acid reflux. I don't feel nauseous or anything either until the acid comes up and then I suddenly have to vomit.

justtheonethen · 03/11/2017 16:55

blue that sounds awful Sad. No advice but hand holds here.

I was a bit speechless but I wish I had said that! Not horrible at all, she pissed me right off!

BlueButTrue · 03/11/2017 18:46

Natsku Yes that’s exactly it!

Shehz21 · 03/11/2017 19:10

Blue Hand hold here.. the acid reflux sounds really grim. Do antacids not help at all or h2 blockers like zantac? I'm sorry if you already tried them and they haven't been of any help.

justtheonethen Twins of all sorts it seems. Calling tomorrow to change my GTT test as I might have to travel for DB's wedding. Back to that bloody long haul flight to Dubai argh.

meadow some of us had some really bad cases of teeth "problems. It's advisable to get to a dentist as soon as you feel your teeth need a rather thorough checkup.

LucindaE · 03/11/2017 19:17

justtheonethen* Words fail me, too. I am thinking of retorts, too, such as: 'Do you really think that has never occured to me?'
DeadDoorPost Glad to hear about plug. On the six inches, you should have told him straight faced that you haven't liked to mention it, but you prefer cocktail sausage size!

OnNature'sCourse That sounds horrible and unneverving. I do hope all goes well. That is interesting about the reduced calorie Lucozade. Does it taste the same?
Everyone, should I add biscuits to the list?
Nobody touch Iced Gems. So horrible on the way up, that I can't stand even looking at them after all these years!
seize I am so glad that you have got Ondansetron.
MeadowHay I meant to say how I love that name. Glad they gave you a booklet on foods/drinks. I hadn't heard of that before; so often they make rather futile recommendations about the BRAT diet. I see what you mean about pregnancy related sickness; they can manufacture an excuse; oh dear. Good luck to OH with the interview.
Cheers DeadDoorPost and BlueButTrue and pippa on. BlueButTrue I have heard of that acid regurgitation, and suppose it must be reflux. How horrible. Much sympathy to you and all suffering horrible symptoms.
I hope weasledee is OK. We haven't heard from her in a while. Now
MeadowHay replaces her at the end of the list.
I hope everyone is more or less coping

Hi everyone, welcome to all the new people, meadow, corkscrew and others (I'm sorry, struggling to keep up!), Meadow rowntrees iced lollies are the best aren't they?! Although I also used to be partial to a callipo.

So jealous of all of those of you losing the mucus plug (now that's a sentence I never thought I would write!), nothing here. I went for a waddle to the hospital today though so feel like I achieved something at least, and also stocked up my supplies of raspberry leaf tea, just in case that old wives tale is true. Blue sympathies on the acid reflux, I've only had it that bad a couple of times and honestly it was like a form of torture, unbearably uncomfortable and painful, and impossible to sleep. I hope it does ease off so that you can get some rest, and food, soon.

Lucinda I was wondering about weasledee too, I hope she is doing well, and really hope that maybe she has just escaped HG this time.

Hi to everyone else, hope people get more sleep tonight without the nighttime nausea!

pippanippa · 03/11/2017 19:46

I'm so sorry seize, I forgot to say, I hope the kidney scan goes well - that sounds like a horrible worry to have at the moment, on top of everything else.

justtheonethen · 03/11/2017 19:51

lucinda Grin I keep coming up with retorts too!

I do hope weasledee has escaped the HG Smile.

seizethecuttlefish · 03/11/2017 19:51

Blue I’m sure I read before there is a link with high stomach acid levels at HG. I had terrible reflux with ds. If you can get omprezole. It’s a game changer. I had to sleep sitting up before it kicked in. It’s amazing. The sore throat that comes with acid reflux is a sure sign. I got it just drinking water. Sending you hugs.
Just I was gingered (autocorrect changed that to fingered, glad I caught that one) by the dr. So frustrating! Well done on your restraint.
I had my hair cut today. My hairdresser comes to the house. It’s the first time my hair has been properly dried since it was last cut. My old lady shower stool is a godsend but I can’t sit long enough to dry my hair. I think it’s probably in the best condition ever due to lack of straighteners etc. Trying to be positive today. Hoping for a constipation miracle today. Work messaged me today to ask when I’d be back in. My last line finishes on Monday but I still feel lousy and with all the renal scan stuff etc I’m going to ask for another line.

justtheonethen · 03/11/2017 19:52

That flight again shehz Shock

justtheonethen · 03/11/2017 19:54

seize definitely get another note. Hope you get a constipation breakthrough, I had the worst poo of my life earlier as I hadn't taken lactulose for a couple of days, I won't forget again!
Fingered by the doctor Grin. That would almost be more acceptable than gingered!

justtheonethen · 03/11/2017 19:55

And agree about hair condition! Yay for lovely cut and getting it dry. Getting mine done Sunday at home too!

lookingforthecorkscrew · 03/11/2017 20:04

It’s just occurred to me that I haven’t added my due date. I’m due 21st June. So far away 😩

OnNaturesCourse · 03/11/2017 20:22

Lucinda... Tastes the same to me, a little more fizzy but I just leave the lif off a while.

OnNaturesCourse · 03/11/2017 20:24

Blue... That definitely sounds like acid. Have you tried any antiacids? Sorry I forget if you mentioned it or not.

Natsku · 03/11/2017 20:41

Been thinking about weasledee too, hope everything is going OK with her pregnancy this time and she's just managed to avoid the HG.

I'm trying without my meds tonight because I don't have many left and I'm doubtful that doctor will renew the prescription on Thursday so need to save them for when I'm travelling to the UK as I always get stress sickness when I travel so want to limit that if possible.

OnNaturesCourse · 03/11/2017 21:49

Ladies I'm so sorry for the off topic TMI post but I feel as if I can ask...

Had those crampy period like pains along with low back ache and groin pain this morning. Nothing sore just dull and achey like the first day of a period. A soak in the bath didn't ease it however after a while, and few gas passes, it eased. I put it down to gas but... The aches are back, and have been for a while. Just been for pee before going for another bath to try ease it and afterwards I stood up and caught sight of myself in the mirror... Massive string of discharge dangling half way down my thigh 🤗 naturally I pulled at it to investigate and it just kept coming! It was mixed thick white with clear bits, no blood etc and not gloopy but running snot like. Very elastic. I then tensed my belly and more came out. I'd say overall the size was that of a 2£ coin, maybe more. No horrid smell or anything.

Could this be the final part of my plug? Previous gloopy, lumpy discharge was the start of my plug coming away according to the midwife. Or is it just braxton hicks pushing things out?

Again I'm really sorry about the TMI. May give hospital a call after my bath if I'm still achy.

Elephantgrey · 03/11/2017 21:54

Welcome weasledee and meadow.

I called in sick to work yesterday which I felt really guilty about thinking I could have coped and called pregnancy sickness support for advice as I was having difficulty drinking anything. The lovely lady on the phone told me to call the early pregnancy unit. They told me to come down and admitted me.

My ketones were very high. I had 3 drips worth of fluids and lots of injections. I felt amazingly much better. I was able to eat cooked food and I managed to drink normal water and pineapple juice. I am now back home with a big bag of pills ( including some anti reflux ones). I feel almost like a normal human.
The tablets I am on are citlezine before I was on stemtil which I vomited back up.
I was really surprised that they admitted me. I felt like such a fraud going in but I couldn't cope anymore. Now I realise that I must have been ill.

DeadDoorpost · 03/11/2017 22:42

@OnNaturesCourde it could be! Is it you whose baby is back to back? If a bath isn't really easing the pain you could be getting close. I envy You! You could go before me and pippa 😭😭

DeadDoorpost · 03/11/2017 22:45

elephant yeah you don't always realise how ill you actually are until you get sorted out.

OnNaturesCourse · 03/11/2017 22:50

Yeah, or I was at last check up. They were back to back but slightly turned to the right. I've given up on bath, couldn't get comfy. Lying flat on floor eases it however so hopes truly dashed lol. Still feel genuinely crap though... Very first day period crap.
