I'm over here! Nice new thread to play with...

Oooh lovely - another shiny pushchair / pram on the thread!! Keep us updated Honeyapple

I do kind of regret looking down there... I probably would have been none the wiser til I was actually in the delivery room. Now I'm VERY aware of them. At least it explains why I keep thinking that this baby is pushing down hard on my lady bits... Its not the baby at all but bloody veins!

Thanks for the sympathy Greedy - I knew I could rely on you .

KitKat30 · 09/05/2007 09:16

Morning girls!

Chooster ? oooh crikey they sound painful?!? From what I hear they are pretty common in pregnancy? I?m too scared to check my fango now just in case!! What do they feel/look like? (Tell me to bugger off if that?s way too personal a question!!!)

Congrats Pinkelephant (and other newbies I may have missed) and welcome to this very friendly thread!

MrsMcJ and Bodders ? so sorry you?ve both had losses recently. Funerals are tough ? hope they went OK for both of you. MrsMcJ ? any news on AF? Have everything crossed that it stays well away?cant wait to add to the due date list honey

Greedy ? your DS sounds lovely, I don?t even know him and I just want to scoop him up and tell him all will be OK!!! I don?t have kids so can?t really comment, but from what I remember of being little you do get over stuff really quickly. I remember falling out with people one day and it seeming like the end of the world, but forgetting all about it 2 days later. Kids are hardy little things really. Don?t stress too much hon.

Honeyapple ? oooh what pram are you going to get??? We did a big shop at the weekend and have bought ours ? a pramette thingie from Mamas and Papas. It?s a little heavier than I would have liked, but it folds/unfolds really easily and feels very smooth and sturdy. So I?m a happy girl!

Babymad ? your DH sounds lovely, bless him! My bump is also getting very pronounced ? although people just keep saying how enormous I am rather than how cute my bump is!! The buggers!

Nothing new to report really? we have started looking for a new house again, as we have finally realised that our 1 bed flat might be a bit too small to accommodate a new baby? So other than dealing with estate agents all day (and playing with my new pram and LOADS of babygros) life has just been ticking over as normal. We?ve decided to hire a doula ? the Panorama programme freaked me out so much that I was in a constant panic about the birth. So we?re meeting a couple of Doulas this week ? fingers crossed we click with one of them. Will let you know how we get on.

A big hello to anyone I?ve missed ? Firsty, PinkB, Fettle hope you?re all well?

Bumped the list as I?m lost without it!! Goingfor3 and Pinkelephant? please add your due dates, I couldn?t find them!

GRRRR just wrote a big post and my internet connection went down. GRRRR.

Anyway, brief synopsis...

Varicose Veins- I am worried about them on my legs as mum had them after me, and I was number 3. Yucky evil things. (at least with them on your fanjo, not many people see them!)

Pram- As I am in and out of the car a lot, I need something where you can stick the car seat on the top... but something small, not a big travel system... also needs to be easy and quick to fold up and stick in car boot- and quick to put up...any ideas? Is John Lewis worth a trip? Cant find any pram megastores near me...

Seeing MW this afternoon.

Cant remember what else I put... GRRRR

Any news from MrsMcJnr??

Chooster · 09/05/2007 11:39

Thats really annoying honeyapple!! I hate it when you spend ages writing something out then off it goes...

MrsMc - are you there? Any news? I may have a quick look at the conception threads to see if she's been on.

Kitkat - dont mind you asking at all! I'm only aware what they feel like now I know they are there, but its just like a small area of swelling. Then when I look there (very difficult balancing act involving a mirror) it looks like a blue / purply lump. I've got about 3 of them. Hope it doesn't get any work but like you say at least they are fairly private!

Kitkat / Firsty - I also get the "you're big" looks and comments. My mothers favourtite one is "are you sure there aren't two in there - ha, ha, ha" and just at the weekend my MIL said "are they sure about your dates, maybe you are 35wks and not 29wks". My mum does it more of a piss take but my MIL was serious! The fact that I've had 6 scans and am measuring bang on for my pregnancy seems to have escaped them. I do try to see the funny side but it gets annoying after a while.

No real ideas on the buggy honeyapple but definately take a look at kiddicare and see what good deads they have. I think MacClaren do a buggy with a car seat that would fold really small?

On another note, I was a total tit yesterday and dinked my DH's car leaving work. I mis-judged the position of a concrete pillar and it scratched and slightly dented the wheel arch! . He was working til 10.30 last nitgh so didn't have the heart to tell him. And today he started work at 5am so he'll be knackered and probably grumpy later! So when am I going to tell him. We've swapped cars now as hes is easier for me to drive so he probably wont notice until I tell him. I actually dreamt about it last night I feel so bad . Any miracle ideas ladies?

Chooster · 09/05/2007 11:42

Sorry for the many errors!!!

BabyMadwithBump · 09/05/2007 12:32

Hello all, hope you all are fine and well,
Feeling alittle tired due to not sleeping well for 2 days but funnily enough not getting me down, I think it's all in preparation for when the night feed are here. Looking around for a cotbed and baby baths/seats at the moment but I wont buy till I've been to the babyshow as they could be some good offers there, which I still cant wait to go and DH is worse than me! DS#2 is on a school trip today he was jumping with joy this morning and DS#1 has a school trip tomorrow so he'll be the same tomorrow morning bless, they really do make me smile every day, don't know what I would do without any of them.....here we go hormones. DH woke up 2 nights ago crying bless him, had a bad dream were LO and I died in childbirth and he had to tell people on MN but I told him it's not going to happen I'm going to be around for decades yet LOL. Watching on telly "born to soon" for the last 2 evening, I really do feel for the family's but I wont go to much into that (hormones), DH starts giving LO some words that go along the lines "you just stay in there or you'll be in trouble". Boobs are still leaking and now it's turning yellow, I will mention it to the MW next week, must start righting down things I want to talk to her about, due to when the app comes round I just forget till just after the app.......PG brain! I was pined to my bed for an hour at the weekend by my boys wanting to feel the baby move and kick, they were talking and singing to the baby, if the baby moved when they were singing a song it meant that the baby liked that song, so my 5yr old said,......... he know much more than me of cause!

Chooster poor you, I really don't know what to say regarding the car but you will feel better once you'll told him!

honeyapple I've brought a Silver Cross 3D which you can get as a travel system and will fit in a small car's boots (the reason why we brought it was my gram and FIL both have small cars plus getting on/off bus's) can be a pramette forward facing as well as a pushchair for later on, folds umbrella style, check out my file and you'll see it in my photos!

MrsMc how are you today any news?

firststar I've started getting hormonal outbursts too, but it'll be over before we know it!

KitKat30 good luck with the house and doula hunting, and try not to worry to much about that programme!

Just start crying when you tell him...

Or give him a blow job and then tell him...

Dont worry about it Chooster - people are surprisingly understanding when you're preggers. I dinged my parents' car the other week and everyone was just so releived that I was OK, the car was kind of secondary...

OP posts:
BabyMadwithBump · 09/05/2007 12:45

tell him the concrete pillar hit you, not that you hit the concrete pillar never know it might work!

Chooster · 09/05/2007 12:46

Mmmm, I hope DH thinks like that too. Although as I dented it leaving a car park he may not automtically link it with me potentially being hurt. I did wonder whether i could blatantly lie and tell him that I got back to the car and it was like that , but it is clearly a scratch done by a wall and they dont often attack cars of their own accord. I'm warming to the blow job idea Kitkat

I hope I didn't scare our 2 newcomers away with talk of my veiny fanjo

Chooster · 09/05/2007 12:47

Ah, we are thinking alike Babymad!!!

KitKat30 · 09/05/2007 13:17

Veiny fanjos, blow jobs, attacking concrete pillars... it's what MN is all about!!!

OP posts:
Bodkin · 09/05/2007 14:37

Chooster, I put a massive scratch/dent down the side of our car over Christmas. Felt terrible about it - but luckily, DP has now put an even worse dent in the boot!!!! so with any luck your DH might do the same and even things up! Needless to say, we haven't done anything about either of them.... Our first proper posh car as well - now it looks like the Beverley Hillbillies have got their hands on it!

KitKat - PMSL at your suggestion!

As you can see, I am not at the funeral I am supposed to be at, which I feel awful about, but DP was supposed to be looking after DD today while I went, and then his clients decided that they would come and visit him today (rather than yesterday). As they were coming from Blackpool (to Dorset, about 6 hours?) he couldn't really say no... TBH, it was going to be a very long day for me (leaving home at 6.30am and not getting back until 9pm) crossing London on all manners of public transport and generally emotionally exhausting, so part of me feels that it might have been a bit much for a 7 month preggers person anyway. My friend has been really understanding about it, and is so stressed out organising the day that we wouldn't have been able to spend much time together anyway.

Firsty, I am getting that "I have had enough of work and want to finish NOW" too at the mo. If I work like a maniac I hope to get all my jobs done by the end of May - but it means doing evenings as well, and by the end of the day my bump is ginormous and I am knackered.

Hi to everyone else

BabyMadwithBump · 09/05/2007 15:57

What about Veiny fanjos have I missed something?

fettleandminifettle · 09/05/2007 20:49

Hi all

sorry not been around for a couple of days - don't be too shocked, but real life has actually taken me away from you all !!!

Work is still hectic - still in the throes of interviews, but hopefully I'll know by early next week, if I'm getting my promotion. I'm assuming that my manager assumes it is mine, as we are currently recruiting for many positions, including my current one! Which has to be a good sign, doesn't it? Being mercenary and thinking of the extra money for maternity leave, that's awful isn't it? I promise, I'm not materalistic (well not that materialistic anyway - I'm still not giving in to DH's constant demand for a new pram and/or sportscar!!)

Pregnancy wise, I'm still feeling great. Backache from time to time, but not constant pain, so I'm not too worried at present. Tired, but then I stopped the iron tablets, so I've restarted them and already feel more energetic.

anyway, enough about me, how are you all doing?

Greedy, your DS sounds a sweetie - I too worry too much about DD being unliked at nusery and school. WE can't always be there to help them and look after them, but I want to be!!! I think you should be pleased that he tells you everything that's a good sign and he obviously loves you lots! DD has decided she doesn't love or need me at the moment - Daddy is the best for everything! Feel a bit unloved, I have to say, but apparently, it can be quite normal around 3 years, that 3 becomes a crowd!! Let's hope minifet is a boy, and he loves me more!!

Chooster - poor you! TBH, I've never looked down there with a mirror - is that weird? But I'm with Kitkat, what do they feel like? I've no idea. I also worry about varicose veins, Honey as my mum had them badly - we should chant, don't cross our legs at the same time as chanting pelvic floor!!!

Kitkat, good to hear from you. Wish I'd asked for your advice the time I crashed our car (in fact i've bumped it a few times!!). Had I gone for the BJ option, DH might have taken it better!! Although on one occasion, it was while he was in Iraq and it was lovely DD, who while speaking to him on the phone went "Daddy, Mummy crashed the car today!!" - couldn't really get out of that one then!

Anyway, gone on too long - DH is grumpy and wants help tidying the house. Best go help him.

take care all
xxx

Hello Ladies Sunny Leeds today hence no posting. Having some cramps but so far no AF, keep those fingers crossed for me!

Bodkin I like the teeth cleaning house analogy! I shall remember that one (Dnephew1 is OBSESSED with cleaning ) Sorry you couldn?t make the funeral, they are so terribly sad aren?t they, each one reminds you of every one you have ever been too and how fragile and short life really is we have to make the most of it I guess Loved your euphemisms by the way!

PinkElephant hope you are feeling good and still smiling a lot! I was 8 months trying last time round so I hope to reduce that time this time round too Hope appointment with GP went well and that your beanie is in a safe place You are right, I am about a month behind you to date! Hope that line is very thick and dark now!

Hello Goingfor3 , Hey Greedy Hello Babymad

Hello Firststar Saw one of my pg friends at the funeral yesterday. She said she was sorry that she hadn?t been in touch since the MC but thought I?d want to be left alone. I don?t know, maybe I did but it?s been lonely . Glad to hear that you are ok

Hey Chooster sorry I had to stand you up for Leeds today! Don?t like the sound of the ruffian who bullied DS AF was due Tues so hoping and praying I?ll need those buggy lessons soon feeling grounded about it as got BFN on 10dpo and 11dpo and as I got my BFP on 12dpo last time, I didn?t dare test yesterday as that would have depressed me, might test tomorrow (I so hope that isn?t tempting fate and AF to come and get me ) I would have offered to be helper at DS?s party but am at a wedding that day, your idea sounds great also heard The Jelly Club is good fun How are you keeping? Great I hope My Mum had really bad varicose veins ?down there? when pg, I expect that will be another legacy for me, so glad I cannot see down there (unless I really want to!!) Sorry about the car and by the way, I think you look perfect for your dates (but what do I know )

Honeyapple Maureen? Good Housekeeping has reviewed buggies this month by the way and has detailed the best ones! Yes I am sad reading that mag but I love the housey stuff and the recipes! I was so shocked at the price of those bugaboos! I won?t be having one of those My Mum had really bad VV with my sis (3rd child) and even in the brief time I was pg, I had to wear support tights and put my legs up due to them but it?ll be worth it

Hey KitKat thank you, I can?t wait to come back either! how are you these days? I plan to have a doula when (see, being positive!) I give birth. Saw one of my pg friends at the funeral yesterday. She said she was sorry that she hadn?t been in touch since the MC but thought I?d want to be left alone. I don?t know, maybe I did but it?s been lonely .

Chooster · 09/05/2007 21:09

Hey Fettle - real life taking over??? Thats just not one. Speaking of which where has Greedy taken herself off to?

Thanks for all your car stories! Bodders, DH has already put a big scratch on it by driving it into our house so I'm in pretty good company. I still know he'll be mad though. I still haven't told him Funnily enough he went to move it earlier this evening as I'd blocked him in and I watched him from the bedroom window as I knew the game would be up. He seemed to bend down to look at the wheel arch but came in and didn't say anything. SO!!!! a) did he just not see it, b) does he wonder if he's done it accidently himself, c) does he know its me and is just waiting for me to own up.

I should just own up shouldn't I!?!?!? Maybe my opportunity will be tomorrow as he's training a manager at Hooters of all places so hopefully he'll be in a good mood after seeing all those boobs and small pert arses. Its enough to make a 7 month pregnant woman feel pretty low about herself though .

Chooster · 09/05/2007 21:15

Hello MrsMc - your back!!! Crossed posts... Very pleased to hear that AF has stayed away so far. Keep us up to date with progress, so so so hope it has worked out for you this month. If not please keep positive!

Chooster · 09/05/2007 21:16

Sorry, meant to add that I'm doing well - thanks for asking. And for your comment about looking right for my dates. Hope we'll manage lunch soon x

fettleandminifettle · 09/05/2007 21:21

Hey MrsMc - everything crossed for you!

Chooster, my DH is very jealous of your DH's job!!! Had to ask him what Hooter's was - I'm too innocent!!

anyway, back to the apprentice!

PinkElephant · 10/05/2007 08:28

Morning all,
Crikey...I'd forgotten what a chatty bunch of ladies you are....so much to catch up on
Do you mind if I hold back from adding myself to the expected due date, just until I know my beanie is in the right place and they have ruled out it is not in my tubes again....just still feel a bit nervous about it all >
Is it usual at 5 wks to feel a bit tired, washed out and a bit crampy. I'm getting a few cramps in the evening but nothing major, not like last time with my ectopic. GP is hopeless but have persuaded him to start monitoring my Beta HCG's over the next 6days to check my hormones are rising as they didn't last time at 5wks, hence my ectopic. Hopefully I can twist his arm to send me to the EPU, at what stage can they see anything? Can they see the sac at about 6wks? I just want peace of mind its all in the right place this time and then I can relax and start to enjoy this
Greedy - how could I forget you "geedyformincepies!!!" Hope you are well hun?
How is Mum2sam doing?
MrsMcJr - you won't be long behind me I just know, it took me 8mths the first time too, theres no way it will take that long again

MrsMcJnr · 10/05/2007 09:54

Hmmm hello ?.I am ?probably pregnant? woke up at 4am, needed a wee and thought I?d better temp too as I normally get up at 6.15, temp was still good so I rooted around in the dark for a test and did it ? there was a line not the strongest of lines but mostly definitely there. Funnily enough, I didn?t get any sleep after that. I feel numb really, I went through every emotion in the hours of lying there; as you can imagine I am very scared about the thrombophilia and the risk to the baby, I don?t have a haematology appointment yet and I don?t know what to do. I have left a message for my GP to call me about ?something important? I hope she is not too angry with me for disobeying her advice to help. I haven?t had any spotting like last time so I am reading into that that this time might be different; more fool me but what?s the harm in staying positive? I am really excited, just scared. Pinky, we can be tentative expectees together (again! )

fettleandminifettle · 10/05/2007 10:05

MrsMc - fantastic news!! Hang in there! We are all here for you!

So pleased for you - it has to be good this time.

xxxx

KitKat30 · 10/05/2007 10:36

Yippeeeee!!!! Have everything crossed that in 9 months time you will have a healthy, happy baby.

greedygreedyguzzler · 10/05/2007 10:43

hello all!
pinkelephant - i had a scan about 5 weeks i think and they said they could see a sac in the right place. by 6 weeks they should hopefully see a heart beat, but in my case they left me till about 7 weeks to make sure!

chooster - i am here! just had a busy few days, what with checking my fanjo and everything!! (i have NEVER used tat word before and i am NEVER using it again!) i tend to say 'bits' normally. anyway, my 'bits' appear to be normal! well..............you know............slightly asymmetrical in the flap department, but normal for me anyway!!!!........ was that TMI??? just trying to make choosterchops feel better about her deformed bits!!!
