I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.
There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk

If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is great: 024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy#!scenario

I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.

So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

@ScotsLamb
My manager says "you're glowing" and "you look well" like she's down playing it and it's the opposite to what other people say. It really pisses me off

PayingMyWayYouSay · 28/06/2017 12:11

So sorry I've not been on in ages, it's been a busy week!

I did read someone's daughter passed their veterinary exam, well done Flowers Amazing career path.

It's my 20 week scan today Smile Get to see my little boy again.

Hope everyone is alright, sending lots of anti sickness drugs and rests your way

PayingMyWayYouSay · 28/06/2017 12:14

I have a work situation update - Manager pulled me in about my return to work interview. At the end she said

"And lastly, can you please Google Office Etiquette. I don't think it's polite how you are in the morning".

I asked what she meant by this, to which she said "well you don't say hello to everyone when you come in, this is unbelievably rude and I don't think you're polite".

I always say hello to everyone Blush If I don't look cheery cheery, it's because I've just had my head down the toilet.

Background - my manager is generally making my life hard at present

Lemondrop99 · 28/06/2017 12:55

I can't take credit for the mural!!! I didn't paint it. I designed and composed it but after pilfering ideas from a video on You Tube. We paid an artist to come in a paint it though.

Flap, Haitch has set up a Facebook group for all of us HG sufferers in our third trimester and beyond so we have a place to stay in touch post-birth. We've all been so supportive of each other, we thought it would be nice to keep supporting each other through the labour and newborn bit too Smile It's not been used much yet, as we're still pregnant! But it's the HG Graduation Group for anyone wanting to find it.

ScotsLamb · 28/06/2017 13:44

Hi all. I'm currently 14 weeks ("sickness gets better after 14 weeks") with baby number 1. Sickness/nausea since week 6. im a teacher and I've been grinning and bearing it since then through a Residential with 180 kids that I was in charge of, a romantic trip to Paris with OH where I fainted at the Louvre and lots of exam board meetings. It's got worse since 12 weeks and I was given a drug beginning with C and signed off work. Since relaxing and not stressing I've felt better but nausea lol day and lots of moments of extreme silence and no movement to prevent sickness.

1984FS · 28/06/2017 14:12

Hello everyone,
My doctor has now given me prochlorperazine. Which I gather is something different to the phenergan and cyclizine I had before. I have just been on a review page for this drug though and am now freaking out - it did give me a little bit of anxiety for the first hour or so but now I'm feeling better and definitely less nauseous today. Has anyone else taken this? Advice please. Smile

Lemondrop99 · 28/06/2017 14:20

Here's a bit of info on proclorperazine (Stemitil).

RCOG still consider this a first line drug (therefore basically safe). I had this for a week but it didn't help me so I quickly moved on to ondansetron. My friend took this 14 years ago when pregnant with her first born, so it's been used for HG for ages. I don't think there's much to worry about

@Lemondrop99 Thank you. That's reassuring. This is the page I ended up on..

www.drugs.com/comments/prochlorperazine/for-nausea-vomiting.html

It does seemed to have eased my nausea today so I'd like to keep giving it a go. The reviews on that page are just soooo scary! X

Lemondrop99 · 28/06/2017 14:38

Honestly, I'd trust the professional opinions over online reviews from randoms. I saw that page when I was looking up using bisacodyl (laxitive) in pregnancy and everyone was saying it was the worst thing ever Hmm I was fine on it. The reviews on that website are a bit hysterical. Also, who really goes online to review a drug they are happy with? It'll be skewed because disgruntled people decide to have a moan. Further there only 65 reviews there out of how many hundreds/thousands of people who've taken the drug? It's in no way representative of the population. Honestly, I'd totally ignore that website Smile

1984FS · 28/06/2017 14:48

@Lemondrop99 Yep, you are right. So hard not to worry about everything when you are feeling so awful all the time. I should just enjoy this rare respite from the nausea.
Thank you Flowers

Thingymaboob · 28/06/2017 14:49

@Lemondrop99
My husband is a huge Harry Potter fan and I showed him your mural and he absolutely loves it. It's the first time I've seen him get excited about anything pregnancy related. We really haven't thought anything positive about pregnancy so far due to HG and he's been a real trooper. We found the time lapse video of that artist online who did it. Was that your inspiration? How did you construct the layers?

On another note, woke up feeling really perky so went to my favourite cafe for lunch with a friend then walked down the street and threw the entire lunch up in the street (Bristol city centre) leaving a large pile of sick on the street. Like, a really big pile of sick. It was pretty much projectile. Serves me right for feeling better and leaving the house! My friend is nurse so he was like "meh, food for the pigeons"

Lemondrop99 · 28/06/2017 14:50

I can totally relate to the worry, I got myself in a right state about taking ondansetron. Took a lot of research to reassure me. We have it drummed into us that medication in pregnancy is bad, it's natural to worry and feel guilty. But sadly when we're as ill as we are, we don't have much choice. Small risk vs very sick mum, I think the drugs are likely better for baby. Yes, enjoy your respite! I hope it lasts Smile

Lemondrop99 · 28/06/2017 15:10

"Food for pigeons" ah ha ha! Sorry, but that's genius! Sorry you were sick. Throwing up in the street is really embarrassing, isn't it. And everyone always recoiled like I was a drunk or something Hmm

Glad your DH liked it. I'm loving creating the nursery because, like you, everything has been so negative so far because of the HG. Yes there's two time lapse videos on YouTube of two different women who have painted the mural. I totally ripped it off! Just start by painting the lightest layer first then the next darkest, etc working down to the bottom.

In other news, running to a ringing phone is a bad idea. I just threw up on my floor Confused

Lules · 28/06/2017 15:31

It is lovely lemon

Argh I felt so much better yesterday. Barely even felt nauseous and now today I feel awful again. Haven't been sick but have felt on the verge of it for hours. I have stuff to do but I'm just lying in bed.

Thingymaboob · 28/06/2017 15:37

Bracing myself to go to the dentist. My mouth is so sore and bleeding from weeks of vomiting

Mustang27 · 28/06/2017 18:01

Top 10! Kinda exciting and terrifying.
I don't even want to think about labour. Pooping is hard enough 😂

Melleebacca · 28/06/2017 19:13

Lucinda - SIL has our favorite middle name on her list, so we are trying to see if we can find something else, while also being mildly peeved at the audacity of it. When I'm feeling really bitter, I contemplate getting the dog a buddy and using that name....

LucindaE · 28/06/2017 19:17

PayingMyWayYouSay That is awful about that manager picking on you. How did she come by this brilliant conclusion? Does she spy on everyone's entrances?
Mustang I remember I used to make a tea out of fresh mint from my garden - and once included a snail without noticing. That set me off Envy
Hollyhop and everyone - as below....

Wooooo Holly! Top of the list!!!

HaichM · 28/06/2017 20:00

Woo Holly! So close now. I really need to start thinking about labour now I'm joint 2nd on the list...

Mellee: do it or use the name. Can't they think of another to use? Also, yes I agree. Pooping and moving are fun enough. Baby decided to park under my ribs for the first time in months today and boy did that make sitting and bending interesting!

Mustang: urgh! My sympathies. Squished slugs are not nice at the best of times

Paying: sorry to hear about unsupportive managers. Holly has had similar bad experiences. What a nitpicky thing to criticise you for!

DeadDoorpost · 28/06/2017 21:01

Mellee who actually cares if your fave middle name is on their list??! You can name your child what you want.

If I have a boy he's gonna end up with my brothers full name in it. Just how its happened as a compromise between me and husband (who has same first name as bro) So yeah. Do what you wanna do and if she complains then oh well she'll get over it.
Besides, both sides of our fam are so big we're likely to end up doubling up on names at some point. We're not worried.

DeadDoorpost · 28/06/2017 21:06

Also gonna add that you've got the baby cooking inside you?? She doesnt. So you get dibs. And if she kicks off then stick some fingers up at her and tell her to sod off and moan to someone else.

In other news, I'm in a good mood coz I bought some new books today and sorted through my material box so will probably make some sort of toy for the baby tomorrow.
