I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.
There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk

If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is great: 024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy#!scenario

I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.

So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

Ooo that sounds exciting. I keep reading rather than continuing with the blanket I started...

Lemondrop99 · 28/06/2017 21:18

Agreed. She doesn't get to claim a particular name, especially if she's not pregnant! Plus if you're using it as a middle name, it really shouldn't be an issue.

I sympathise though, names are a prickly area. My SIL is due in 2 weeks and I'm fairly certain she is having a boy (they allegedly don't know but I don't believe them). I'm reeeeeeally hoping they don't pick the name we want. I'll be glad once their baby is here and named, so it's not an issue anyone more. We haven't told anyone the name, so if by some unfortunate coincidence my SIL picks it, it'll just be bad luck.

What books have you got Door? We need to see a photo of the toy!

Had some awful dry heaving episodes today. Hurt far more than actually vomiting. Although I just ate a takeaway curry (no rice!!!!!) which hopefully seems to be staying put.

pippanippa · 28/06/2017 21:25

Mellee you definitely get to choose the name, SIL can't grab a name theoretically in advance!

Sorry, I think I've missed a bit, but sorry to hear about workplace issues paying, and congratulations on being top of the list Holly.

Feeling sorry for myself this evening, haven't kept much down today and ketones going up, and so the cycle begins again. Trying to be sensible and keep eating little amounts, but to be honest I can't face it. Oh well, hopefully a good nights sleep will help.

Melleebacca · 28/06/2017 21:50

Thanks all. I'm very bitchy about the name topic, especially due to the hell of HG. Wasn't sure if it was just hormones making me feel so peeved. 😂 We will probably name baby whatever we want and soon since hubby flies out in 4 weeks. Eeek!

Deaddoor - DD has been gifted some material books with velcroed on animals, might help your toy ideas?

Lemon - sorry to hear about the heaving. That is so much worse than the actual vomiting. Hope you feel better soon.

Pippa - hopefully sleep helps and you can keep more fluid in tomorrow.

DeadDoorpost · 28/06/2017 22:51

Lemon I got 1984 by Orwell as I'm probably going to write an essay to (hopefully) be published or something and I've not read it in years. And then I also got Interesting Times by Terry Pratchett but not just any old copy, a lovely beautiful hardback cloth copy. And then another book by Patrick Ness but I can't remember the title. It's an interesting read though from the looks of it.
As for the toy lemon and Mellee I'm probably going to make a giraffe or dinosaur or something. Once I'm done I'll post a pic. Would do a bear but I'm not that advanced 😂

Mustang27 · 29/06/2017 06:11

Love Patrick Ness, actually dead that's pretty much my ideal list of books. Good luck with your essay I love 1984. I'm trying to read the handmaids tale again.

Mellee I'm glad I don't really associate with my side especially for the name front. My babies middle name will be my aunts name if it's a girl not sure I could use it for a boy and I know my mother would lose her shit. Thank god for being able to drop to iv parents like a tonne of bricks.

Cold here today and my wee boy has been up since 4.30 bright as a button. Think he is having a bit of a sleep regression mixed with cramps as he is being a bit funny about potty training.

Oh god snail tea would have definitely done it Lucinda, I'm actually not squeamish in the slightest when not pregnant and have no issues with any creepy crawlies but the slimy ones at the mo are not good.

Hope you had a decent nights sleep Pippa. I'm loving all the crafty things being talked about. Is it a patchwork blanket Haich?

OnNaturesCourse · 29/06/2017 07:12

Just checking in, I keep trying to read all the posts but can never seem to catch up after taking a week off from the forum while trying to do the nursery. (I've failed terribly!)

But I'm here, hopelessly trying to catch up!

Hugs to all xx

Melleebacca · 29/06/2017 08:19

Deaddoor - that sounds wonderful. I sewed up 10 little fish toys with magnets attached so that DD could go fishing.

Mustang - my family would not comment on names unless I asked, hubbys family on the other hand are a bit more ruthless.
Hope potty training is going ok. DD seems to have taken to it really well, but need to keep feeding her prunes as she is less inclined to do number 2s.

OnNature - the thread moves so quickly! And I can never remember anyone's due date. Don't worry about the nursery too much, your OH can always work on it while you're laid up with a newborn.

I had a midwife appt today. Baby is head down and on the left side. Was told to expect quite a short labour and I can leave hospital within hours if everything is fine. I've been in pain all day, the weight of baby is hurting my back and hips, and DD has been a bit rougher than usual. Blood pressure plummeted and I was so nauseous I almost hung out with my porcelain buddy. Pregnancy sucks.

OnNaturesCourse · 29/06/2017 08:34

Mellee... Oh no! I'd never leave him to do the nursery. Goodness I'd be lucky if it was done for bump going to high school. Oh the thought gives me the fear. I'm a perfectionist and he is the opposite 😂

OnNaturesCourse · 29/06/2017 08:35

Anyone know the latest you can get your anomaly scan?

Mustang27 · 29/06/2017 08:37

One you have loads of time yet but iv been nesting a bit and I'm only 15 weeks so I get it and I do like to be organised but often I'm not lol. As mellee said just get hubby to do it.

He is doing really well but he gets a bit funny with poops he prefers to stand up to do them, he does like prunes so il try that. He isn't constipated seems to pass them pretty stress free he just doesn't seem to recognise the pain as needing to go. I love the fishing idea that's brilliant. Good news about the baby shame you have a little longer to wait to go especially if your sore, hope you can avoid sickness

Mustang27 · 29/06/2017 08:38

Cross posted ons, ah I see your partner and mines were separated at birth. It's awful isn't it!!

OnNaturesCourse · 29/06/2017 08:48

Definitely.

The nursery needs done asap as we literally have no other place to store things. It's all currently in storage boxes in my kitchen. Driving me crazy.

I've got myself all worked up this morning about my up coming scan, totally irrational fear that baby is not OK as I've felt nothing other than little bubbles, and my bump looks just fat. Plus the sickness has eased and nausea is only brought on by smells. I just no longer feel pregnant.

Oklahoma · 29/06/2017 09:05

Nature you aren't supppsed to feel sick at this stage so not feeling sick doesn't mean you don't feel pregnant! Try and enjoy feeling a bit better everything will be fine! HG is not normal pregnancy

OnNaturesCourse · 29/06/2017 09:09

Thanks Ok.

Just a bad day I think, I'm tired and over thinking.

I do hope that this is HG finishing up for me. It's been a week, aside from a little heaving yesterday.

Impatiently waiting on baby kicking me senseless so I know all is well in there. These scans put the fear in me!

Currently trying to get my scan date changed too as I'm off on holiday for my given date. I believe the latest they can do this scan is 21 weeks? They currently have me booked for 20+6 so ... Yeah, fun trying to change that!

Xxx

pippanippa · 29/06/2017 09:19

Onnatures I'm not booked in for my anomaly scan until over 22 weeks, so assume it can be done later too (I hope so at least, though this does seem very late...)! It's great that you're feeling a bit better, though I know always hard not to worry.

Breakfast didn't agree with me here and I'm on the sofa trying to build up the energy to clean out my trusty bucket Sad. The hope of a better day seems unlikely!

OnNaturesCourse · 29/06/2017 09:23

Aww Pippa, nothing worse than having to sort your own bucket. I hope it eases for you.

I'll be 23+1 on the say I return so maybe they could do it the day after or something

Lules · 29/06/2017 09:34

I think it's the 12 week scan which has a strict time. I don't think it matters so much for the 20 week one but I'm not sure.

Wondering if anyone has any advice. If I'm not completely sitting up I can feel the vomit rise up my throat and it's horrible and burny. I guess it's bad heartburn. Gaviscon doesn't help. Is there anything else I could try?

LucindaE · 29/06/2017 09:59

Lules Ompprazole is meant to be really good - I'm not sure if you have to have a prescription or not. Do get something, as it massively reduces the nausea and vomiting not to have that acidity.
Mustang I don't know which is most disgusting - Letter with Squashed Slug or Mint and Snail Tea! Sympathies.
Melleebacca That is really nice that baby is in exactly the right position.
OnNature'sCourse Don't worry - the baby won't object to an undecorated nursery!

They've said 23 weeks is too late. Only time they can do it is tomorrow which they say is very early as I'll be 19+1 x

LucindaE · 29/06/2017 10:23

OnNature'sCourse If it's OK to do it then, I suppose that's the best thing?

DeadDoorpost · 29/06/2017 10:27

nature I'd take that date and just do it. Ad for feeling the baby move I've only felt it maybe once I guess. Other than that it's been silent. And considering it didn't move during the 12 week scan except when I jumped up and down to move it I doubt it'll move much anyway. But hopefully you'll feel better soon

Lules · 29/06/2017 10:28

I had omeprazole in my last pregnancy actually and it really helped. I'll ask when I see the MW on Monday.

Nature - I had my scan at 18+6 I think and it was fine so I don't think it matters if it's a bit early.

Hollyhop17 · 29/06/2017 10:39

Sorry its another bad day Pippa. Hope you get some respite soon.

I am in hospital currently on the trace before they attempt the turn. He is still breech, bottom down, from my scan this morning. Extremely grumpy and upset. I have been nil by mouth since my dinner at 7 yesterday, so the nausea is horrible. Had a huge fight with DH because the hospital this morning initially told me to come in at 12, which given I have HG I felt was too late. He wasnt sympathetic and thought I shouldnt complain so I shouted. Probably unreasonably but I am just so fed up. Luckily they rang me back and asked me to come in straight away. I am more and more coming round to the idea of a section to be honest and I am quite scared that this turn is going to be very traumatic for my baby Sad.

weasledee · 29/06/2017 10:47

Oh holly bit of a rough start to your day! :( hope they come try and move baby soon! Good luck Flowers
