38 weeks and can't wait!!

Currently 38 weeks pregnant today and cannot wait to meet my little boy! I'm feeling so impatient. I've tried to help bring on labour but nothing seems to be working! I've tried bouncing on my birthing ball, sex, evening primrose oil etc.. also been losing my plug over the past two weeks but haven't had a bloody show. Anyone in the same boat as me?? Would love to hear how everybody's pregnancies are going!

@glitterglitters it sounds promising! I'm just about to take the dog for a walk so we'll see if that triggers anything!

So far nothing. I've been pretty much having bh Noe consistently for almost 12 hours but although they got painful earlier for s bit, they're now just uncomfortable.

My back hurts a fair bit but I think I'm still just in very very early labour.... if at all.

Just wish I could sleep!

How is everyone today? I have a midwife appointment later, I haven't 'clicked' with my midwife I always leave feeling a bit let down! Do they offer a sweep at 38week appointments?

@justlittleme I've got absolutely awful acid this morning!! I have a midwife appointment tomorrow and I'll be 38+6, haven't a clue if they offer a sweep.. that's what I'm wondering as I'd love one to help try and get things started haha. I wasn't offered a sweep till 40 weeks I'm afraid.

Yeh no sweep offered 😔 but that's ok, baby will come when ready I guess! My midwife just doesn't make me feel any more reassured, so I always come away feeling a bit deflated! Off out for lunch now, hope you are all having a good day xx

38 weeks on Thursday, had a sweep last Friday and was 50% effaced and 1cm dilated, been feeling a lot of period type pain but nothing else. Last day at work is this Friday so hoping not to go too much over that as I know I'll get bored! Another sweep booked for Friday so fingers crossed....

I've just lost what could only be my mucus plug! No blood tinged but def mucus, cramping has started, not sure if it's all the walking I've done today but cross your fingers for me ladies!

Hope we are all well today. This heat is driving me mad!

@TwinkleStars15 that's good that you could have a sweep already, I wish I had of been allowed one, I just want to get this show on the road now!!

@deb1407 that sounds really promising, let us know how you get on, I've been walking loads but I think my body is so used to long walks anyway it's maybe not making any difference! I've just had a slush puppy, I'm not enjoying the heat either!

justlittleme it was a compromise because they want to induce me at term due to a DVT and being on blood thinning injections, but I really don't want to be induced so having a sweep every week, and two at week 39!

TMI - how do you know if your 'losing your plug' ? Some people seem to lose it all in one go, but some say they lose it gradually? And pregnancy hormones seem to increase things down there anyway! How do you tell the difference??

I've been losing mine gradually. It's like little
Blobs of jelly/snot type stuff when you wipe.

You can lose these pretty early and regenerates. If you google "mucus plug" you'll be able to see some bigger ones where they come out in one big lump. Very sporners corner though you have been warned!

Haha glitters! I think I might be losing it gradually but I'm not 100% sure. I've been getting really bad period type pain in my lower belly the last two evenings, but being a first time mum I've no idea what means something and what is normal lol x

With my first I never lost my plug or had a show either. I kept watching out and they never came. Just to add to the confusion

That's good to know glitters, I wondered if some people don't have a show. I thought nothing would happen until I'd had one

How's everyone doing? How are you finding the heat? I have hay fever so am trying to stay inside as much as possible, I'm batch cooking ready for when baby is (finally) here!
I've had no twinges and feel fine today!!

So I had my 38+6 midwife appointment today.. baby's head is engaged and I'm booked in for a sweep next Wednesday!

@TwinkleStars15 I didn't lose mucus plug or have a show with my first - well not that I remember anyway I was a young 23 year old back then with not much of a scooby! .. my labour was very different, my waters went 19 days early and everything just progressed from there to my beautiful baby not being born the next day!

I'm having a girl this time and she's already been sent to try me! Every other day I feel like labour is coming on, for it just to stop in its tracks!

@Zofloralover1 - that's great news! I've heard great things about these sweeps! I've got the midwife on Friday, il be 37+5 so no chance of one right now :(

debs I'm on constant knicker watch! Every time I have a wee I'm checking to see if there's anything haha, pregnancy is so glamorous!

I've had really awful period pain the last three evenings...it's really uncomfortable but a bath sometimes helps. Any ideas why it's only the evenings I get it? At work I'm usually okay, a bit achy but nothing too bad, then as soon as I'm home it's awful! Got midwife again this Friday, was 1cm last Friday and 50% effaced so hoping for some good news

Can you just ask the midwife to give you an internal check? I've got my next midwife next week at 38+2. Will they offer to take a look then or will they only do it at 40+? My last midwife did and did a cheeky sweep for me prior to 40 but I think that was an unusual thing for her to do.

I'm having some regular tummy cramps and in my back as well now. Last hour or two. This feels more like it did with number 1. Fingers crossed. Though somewhat annoyed as I'd planned a lunch out, hair cut AND a mani/pedi over the next few days

No she didn't say how far engaged she was but in my maternity book she just wrote 'engaged' so I'm guessing he's fully engaged?? I'm 39 weeks today and so far haven't been checked internally so haven't a clue how effaced I am or anything.

I'm on constant knicker watch too everytime I go to the toilet hahaha..

No. Sadly not. It ended up petering off at about 3am which I thought it might do. Bloody painful though.

I think I'd be less annoyed but I'm still only 37+3 so I've got the potential of about 4+ weeks of this nonsense

My midwife said I'm 3/5 engaged though and she thought it would be soon but I wish she hadn't said anything now

38 weeks & after last weeks loss of plug, show & cramps I feel like I've taken a step backwards!

I've never been this pregnant so now feel over due!! .. I cannot face another 4 weeks of this .. I will try ANYTHING!!

I've had sex this morning, which was such an effort .. scrubbed the floors and hoovered the stairs, twice! Surely i deserve my baby now !!
