I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.
There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk

If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is
brilliant:
024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy#!scenario

I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

www.babame.com/Baba-Me-Toy-Mystery-Box_p_1597.html

This is another new past time of mine.. is like kinder eggs for people who mistakenly think they're millionaires and have too much time alone with their phone! I love the grimms stuff !

Mustang27 · 10/06/2017 22:37

Oh no it was Pippa that fell out with her oh I swear I'm Losing it Hmm

FlapAttack88 · 10/06/2017 22:41

Haha mustang I was sixk out the side of my car it a tiny narrow see through bag as that's all.I had and couldn't bring myself to vomit all.over the floor with all cars driving past seeing me... it was too small and some ended up splashing back in my face and some on trousers.my toddler was shouting at me.. mummy no.. no sick in car please!!!!

I tsaw my sister in law today too and mentioned about how her "least you're making a head start losing the baby weight " comment wasn't cool.. she apologised with no drama and quite soncerely so that was nice as I had found it hard to get over that one

FlapAttack88 · 10/06/2017 22:44

I forgot to say the mental image of sick being blown all over your legs is pretty horrific yet funny at the same time.. one you will.look back on fondly one day no doubt

As I do the one where I stealth cough/vommed all.over my pjs/duvet/bedsheets at 3am in the morning and just stripped the worst of the bed and me, dumped it in shower, and slept on my dressing gown

HG sucks!

cantdothisagain2017 · 10/06/2017 22:47

Thankyou that's reassuring. I just feel like I've waited so long for this pregnancy that I don't want to jeopardise it yet I do have children I need to be able to look after and currently I can't.
Fingers crossed it starts to help and I'm feeling a bit better soon

FlapAttack88 · 10/06/2017 22:47

Sorry to hear about you falling out with dh.. that sucks. Mil will.come round. I almost killed my DH when he insisted nice face cream didn't have a smell so kept using it... told.me it was in my head even when I could tell.immediately every time he had used it and was sick. . I eventually found it and binned it. Serves him right the total arse !!!!

He uses aveeno now 😂

Mustang27 · 10/06/2017 22:50

Flap that is a brilliant site it does loads of stuff even cloth nappies and carriers I'm saving that one. Those mystery boxes sound fun!! Might get one for my wee ones birthday.

Oh god I feel horrified for you. I wear glasses and often the vomit is so projectile that even standing up and away from the toilet bowl I still get splashed, sicky specs is a good look. Your poor toddler I love their concern for the car lol. I hate vomiting in front of ppl it's mortifying and I worry they think the worse of me even though I'm actually toting quite an obvious bump already. It's Scotland and everyone assumes you are an alcoholic lol.

So glad she apologised, I just think people say things without thinking but I also hate that if you do take offence it's always put down to crazy pregnancy hormones!!

Lemondrop99 · 10/06/2017 23:01

I know what you mean about being antisocial. I basically didn't see anyone aside from my DH during my first trimester. I'm not even exaggerating. I couldn't even bare to look at a phone screen to text.

I can probably count on my fingers the number of times I've actually been out socially since getting pregnant. I've literally been out a handful of times. Today was the biggest thing I've done in nearly 5 months!

I've only recently started to ease myself back into doing things. Thing is, I'm WAH full time and then if I spend evenings and weekends at home, it can be pretty lonely. DH was put all day today, I got cabin fever and decided I had to do something. That's the first time I've been on a train/tube since getting pregnant (normally I commute into central London daily!).

It's only because now, at over 20 weeks, things have settled a bit. I still get bad days, I still feel nauseous A LOT and I'm still vomiting sporadically, but I can now face a bit of normality now.

A lot of you are in earlier pregnancy than me, and stuck in the really shitty part. The first 16-20 weeks are so tough, but it does get a bit better after that for most people. I'm sure you'll all be able to face venturing out at some point soon, but I sympathise with being able to do nothing by lie down and vomit for months!

Mustang27 · 10/06/2017 23:01

Ooo I'm loving the shea body cream out of body shop right now, the smell is appealing and I'm making everyone use that. Otherwise every other cosmetic is banned it all smells putrid. Omg and Aussie shampoo which I normally love smells weirdly like dog food. How inconsiderate of him
To keep using it I'd have binned it too. It was funny and my poor whipped dog of an other half who is normally squeamish about everything came plodding over with wet wipes, it was all very funny and awful as a rather well to do older couple walked past as I was in full swing Blush.

Can't You could just leave them to a kind of lord of the flies thing or Peter Pan and the lost boys which is a bit less grim, I'm sure they will be fine. Just do a head count when you resurface in 7 months lol. It is really hard when you have other kids, I think it amplifies it because you stress about not doing your mummy duties.

FlapAttack88 · 10/06/2017 23:06

Haha at least you have glasses.. eyelids with toilet water and vomit are the alternative 😂😤😷 that's a good idea I may wear my primark sunglasses next time I am sick as splashback protection 😂😂

Haha I know I love it.. get a grimms one! They have a fb page too and do loads of good offers. Have a ten per cent code off each month for full priced things too and first order discount!

I wasn't going to say anything to her but she was asking about it all and her comment just came up naturally somehow...I think after she was a bit shock I had had to put my son into full.time day care even on my days off etc and me and DH dont even share a room any more as can't stand any movement in bed and he hates my weird sleeping hours and sporadic wake ups to vomit haha.. i said so baby weight was really not something I could see to be a silver lining and she was like.. oh yeah I shouldn't have said that.. I had no idea sorry. Which I knew but hopefully at least she won't be so blasé again!

FlapAttack88 · 10/06/2017 23:11

Haha at whipped dog of a husband!! ! I had to take over dricing today aftr being sick as am better driving than as a passenger. ... the sight of dh on his phone in the corner of my eye was making me feel sick! !! Asks him to turn and face window so I couldn't see..😂 he kept forgetting and I ended up semi yelling. .. PUT IT AWAY, I KNOW I AM BEING RIDICULOUS AND IRRITATIONAL AND A TOTAL PRINCESS BUT I HAVE HG AND DON'T GIVE A SHIT!!! Haha. . He laughed and then reminded me I am not much better without hg 😂😂😶

FlapAttack88 · 10/06/2017 23:12

He did put his phone away though. . Hastily 😂

FlapAttack88 · 10/06/2017 23:13

And was being nice this time not an arse haha.. he just kept forgetting as it was a pretty ridiculous thing I was asking him to do 😂 but totally reasonable too In the circumstances !!

Mustang27 · 10/06/2017 23:27

Free primark sunglasses for all to be used as splash guards. It's awful when it hits your face and your still puking and all you want to do is take some bleach and a nail brush to your face to scrape away the sticky toilet water. Oh god it's making my skin crawl just thinking about it.

Lol it is horrible you do feel like a crazy person with HG as there are so many totally normal everyday things that just making you a vomiting wreck. I like that you both can still laugh about stuff even though it's clearly a massive strain. Maybe we should start a HG husbands support group for them 😂

BetweenMeAndTheBallotbox · 11/06/2017 02:24

It helps all round to be organised. Having dog bags with you and in accessible pockets, etc. (stronger than nappy bags and usually black), wipes and a box to put used bags in until you can dispose of them prevents mess and reduces embarrassment.

Thingymaboob · 11/06/2017 06:59

Oh god, today is going to be a bad day. Woke up nauseous at 5, tossed and turned then was sick for 30 mins. Even though I think it's a pile of crap, I have taken cyclizine in an attempt to sleep again. During the night I reached for a drink (I have a variety by my bed) but ended up swigging from the undiluted Ribena bottle. I spat it out but urgh. My DH and I were supposed to be on holiday in Copenhagen this weekend but we didn't go as I am too unwell.

FlapAttack88 · 11/06/2017 07:49

Thank you betweenme Good advice.. I shall get one of those dog walker belts and be prepared at every moment of every day.

Mustang haha Haha yes they can be a product in the hg survival pack! Along with the grids, links to these websites. Poor husbands haha.

Thingy what a horrible start to the day. .hope the cyclizine managed to knock you back out to sleep. Really sucks that you've had to cancel your weekend away :( x

Hollyhop17 · 11/06/2017 09:11

Morning everyone. Sorry for the silence from me, as usual finding it harder and harder to keep up!

Not been sick since Weds, which is the longest streak I've had for a while. The nausea has been quite bad though. I made it worse by staying up to watch the election, big mistake. Tiredness always makes the nausea worse.

We've been away and on our way back home now. DH will spend the day on the nursery and I promise some pics tonight!

Lemon, HP meet up sounds awesome, what is it?! I'm getting excited for CC now, only a couple of weeks to go.

I'm sorry so many of us are in the dreaded first trimester. Waves to all. Flap, so glad your SIL apologised. I'm still seething at my aunty...

LucindaE · 11/06/2017 10:42

Goodness, Mustang FlapAttack and others, some horrific puking experiences with a grotesquely funny element.
Lemondrop Wise words, good links. Glad you are getting out and feeling a bit more human.
Hollyhop I hope you had a reasonable time when away.
ICan't I so agree with Lemondrop and others, and as I said below:
Everyone, you mustn't feel bad about taking meds. What is the alternative? It's getting dehydrated and being admitted, where they will have to give you the same meds with the fluids to stop the vomiting. Being dehydrated is really bad for both you and the baby. Nobody on the seven odd years I have been on this thread has ever reported an abnormality connected with the medications, and some women have been on a cocktail of medications including steroids. There are invariably a couple of babies born with mild abnormalities out of every so many without any medication at all, unfortunately. Then there are the various studies quoted on the websites above.
BetweenMeAndTheBallotBox That is so true, and those bags must make a better alternative to nappy bags or carrier bags.

Thankyou I do feel reassured think I'm just so anxious as had secondary infertility and have waited a long time (had 5 failed ivfs then a big operation before falling pregnant) so I'm constantly worried about everything I do/eat/take

Thingymaboob · 11/06/2017 12:19

I took a cyclizine this morning at 7. When can I take an ondansetron?

Lemondrop99 · 11/06/2017 13:13

Thingy, you can take ondansetron and cyclizine at the same time if you need to. Don't worry about leaving a particular gap.

Anyone know if I can take proclopramide and ondansetron together if necessary?

Lemondrop99 · 11/06/2017 13:17

Holly, glad you managed to get away. Looking forward to seeing nursery pics!

The Harry Potter meet up is just organised through the Meet Up app. Literally just a reserved room in a pub and a bunch of like minded people getting together to chat. Got to talk lots of Potter (books, films, Studio Tour, theme park, Cursed Child, Fantastic Beasts!), but also lots of other shared interests. It was lovely. I can't remember if I said but they want to get teams together to do a Potter themed Escape Room and a Potter quiz. Hoping I'll be well enough to go as it should be lots of fun.

Can't wait to see what you think of the Cursed Child. I love Scorpius so much!

Thingymaboob · 11/06/2017 13:31

@Lemondrop99 never heard of that meet up app. Sounds great. I would have loved it when I lived in London. I found it a very lonely place. I did work shifts too...

Thingymaboob · 11/06/2017 13:32

@Lemondrop99 I took one. Been violently sick most of the day and now I've taken an ondansetron I am starting to feel a bit human.
