I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.
There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk

If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is
brilliant:
024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy#!scenario

I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

Treachery!

I haven't bought many baby clothes yet but I couldn't resist these! Aren't they the cutest thing ever?!

Oh lemon they are BEAUTIFUL! Where can you get harry potter baby clothes from ?! Our new little one won't have their own nursery til we move house as we have a 3 bed but 1 of the bedrooms is on the bottom floor of he 3 storytown house haha.. so on my pre baby maternity leave in may just decorate a corner of our room harry potter style haha!! or the whole room

Lemondrop99 · 25/05/2017 23:22

This trousers are from a lady on Facebook
www.facebook.com/suffolkwife/posts/332400323841651:0

I also love this lady's items. She's got example of her Potter materials on her FB page (Jellibabies) and I'm going to get her to make cot sheets
www.jellibabies.co.uk/ourshop/cat_767387-Harry-Potter-baby-clothing.html

Etsy is worth a look too (although filter to UK shops unless you're willing to pay shipping from the US. Disappointing as so much of the best stuff is in the US)

Not the cheapest way to buy baby clothes but I can't resist getting a few special bits

NonStopDisco · 25/05/2017 23:26

lemon that nursery sounds awesome!
Would love to go to HP World.
Almost booked tickets for Cursed Child, but I was too worried to in case I wasn't well enough to see it (already cancelled one theatre trip).
Same as OnNature, 14 weeks, not bought anything, fit into my normal clothes, just feel lumpy at the moment.

I'm going for a weekend away in Europe in two weeks, I feel like I haven't got a clue what size I'll be, whether I will be well enough or anything. When I booked it, everyone said "oh you'll be in your second trimester, best time to go, not too big, you'll be glowing!"

Not wanting to pin all my hopes on the magic 16 week mark, but fingers are being crossed.

FlapAttack88 · 25/05/2017 23:31

Thank you lemon.. will check them out... I want ti get a hufflepuff outfit haha!

Disco cursed child is amazing. I saw it on preview showings when it was first released. That can you your present ti yourself for getting through hg!

Keeping fingers crossed for you with the 16 week mark easing up :)

ComplexCookie · 25/05/2017 23:45

Not pregnant, not planning to be, my DCs are 16 and 14 but I wanted to offer my support to this thread having experienced this through both my pregnancies.

My friend (currently 6 months) described herself as having this condition because she vomits once every couple of days and has lost her appetite a little. She has no idea.

Unlike some on here my GP was excellent at helping me manage the condition after several hospital admissions for ketones and dehydration. I also had medication but my top tip is this:

Buy a 2 ltr bottle of full fat Coke.
Stand it in the sink with the lid off.
Put two teaspoons of sugar into the bottle.
It will fizz over (hence the sink)
You will be left with flat Coke.
Take sips slowly

It sounds simple but it is magical and although I'm not an advocate of excessive pop or sugar consumption in reality this does what your body needs to destabilise, hydrate and return from a ketonic state. And it will allow you to eat just enough to start to feel normal again. Trust me xx

Lemondrop99 · 25/05/2017 23:47

Cursed Child is brilliant. We're going again in April 2018!

Oooh I hope you have a good trip Disco. Where are you going? My HG has been more mangable since 16ish weeks, it was when I started being able to do some things rather than absolutely nothing!

I had wanted to go to Croatia but HG put pay to that! So I'm off to the very exotic.... Isle of Wight! We got on Saturday for a long bank holiday weekend, as I wanted to stay in the U.K. and near the NHS in case I got really ill again. Don't think I could hack a flight Sad Ah well, be nice to get away, and DH is excited as he remembers going there as a child.

Lemondrop99 · 25/05/2017 23:50

Thanks for the tip Cookie Smile I found that sipping Lucosade helped settle my stomach slightly. I wonder what it is about sugary liquids that helps? Just finally giving your body some fuel I suppose!

FlapAttack88 · 25/05/2017 23:54

Thank you cookie.. coke is my lifeline at the moment. Along with capri suns. Vita coco water is good too for when you can't drink water but want something less Sweet ?

Lemon... look what I found!!!! Have ordered it ! www.jellibabies.co.uk/ourshop/prod_1670935-Harry-Potter-Hufflepuff-babygrow-sleepsuit.html

Lemondrop99 · 25/05/2017 23:58

Ah it's toooo cute 😍 Can't wait to see a pic of your mini Huff in it!

FlapAttack88 · 26/05/2017 00:05

Haha and mini lemon in their patronus joggers!! Haha.. this mental image will help keep us going through the tough days :)

NonStopDisco · 26/05/2017 00:20

Going to Berlin for a couple of days, DH is having his birthday and has always wanted to go. I was going to surprise him with a longer tour round Europe, but other circumstances cut our available time short. I'm looking forward to it, as I love Berlin.

I'd love to go to IoW, it's always nice to see other bits of the UK, lots of it is beautiful.

I am so looking forward to doing things- although I'm managing to get into work a couple of days on the bounce, it just takes it out of me and I'm back to square one again. I was promoted recently and I feel so bad that I've hardly done my new role in the last couple of months, work are understanding, but I feel like I'm missing out on opportunities and projects. Keep telling myself I have new priorities now though

Loving those baby clothes.

Cookie thank you for the coke tip, drank fizzy Pepsi the other week (it tasted like nectar from the gods), but it made a re-appearance and vomiting fizz is... unusual.

Melleebacca · 26/05/2017 01:05

Goodness. Pregnancy insomnia is rampant on here!

Lemon - we took DD to the states when she was 9 months old, and took her to universal studios. We couldn't stay as long as we would've liked, but she was pretty happy the whole time.

Cookie - I couldn't do flat coke this time around, but last pregnancy I lived off frozen coke, which is flat and super cold.

Survived through glucose test with no vomiting, and then had morning tea with the in laws for my birthday tomorrow and felt so stink that I couldn't eat the cake that they bought me.

Hollyhop17 · 26/05/2017 08:14

I finally get some sleep and miss out on all the HP chat! Um Lemon, I think you'll find you and Mellee arent the only Gryffindors expresses mock outrage. Love, love, love those trousers, so cute! Cant wait to see pics of your nursery. I'm so excited to see Cursed Child but beyond gutted I wont be seeing the orginial cast Sad.

I love Disney more than HP, hence the Mickey themed room, but HP is a close second. I have spent my life going to Disney World, so no shock it was part of my honeymoon! DH also a big Disney fan and was adament we couldnt take a child there until at least 5 until he experienced Disneyworld himself... Now he has come down to 3, just gotta keep working him!!

Woken up with nausea there straight away but trying my best to be more positive today. Had 2 full days of GD testing and all normal so far... does a little happy dance. We are going to Mamas and Papas today to finally order our furniture, so I am forcing myself out of the house. Wish me luck ladies.

Waves, I hope today is a good day for everyone. Peace, do you have some lovely news for us yet?!

Oklahoma · 26/05/2017 08:21

More bad news here, I'm afraid I've just been sorted into Slytherin, I'm not sure what I answered wrong to deserve that!

To those of you who can't sleep, do you take cyclizine or promethezine? I take one in the evening and generally sleep ok (apart from the standard frequent wee trips) but the nights I forget to take it I'm awake half the night. It's a sedative so it makes sense but it also helps with the nausea so might be worth considering.

Lemondrop99 · 26/05/2017 08:28

Sorry Holly! I was so outraged by the abundance on Huffs and Claws that I missed your post! Very glad you're a Gryffindor too - I knew you would be Wink I hope my kid actually likes Harry Potter because I'm not redecorating his room for years! I'm already planing his Newt Scamander outfit for his first book day! The original Scorpius was wonderful, the new lad has some big shoes to fill!

I do love a bit of Disney. When my friend was down last weekend and I was unwell, we sat around and watched a lot of Disney movies. I saw Moana for the first time and then "You're Welcome!" became the answer to everything all weekend. Brilliant news about the GD, long may it last!!! Hope the furniture shopping goes ok.

Nine months eh, Mellee? Hmmmm interesting. I'd sort of resigned myself to not going back for a good 5 years. Not sure we'd be able to afford on maternity leave, but maybe..... starts plotting

Hope everyone feels well enough to enjoy a little bit of sunshine, even if you can only sit in your garden for a bit. Hopefully it won't be toooo hot but apparently will be 26C here in London! Have a nice day all, I'll check back in later with scan results, thinking of you too Flap

Also waiting impatiently for news from Peace!

OnNaturesCourse · 26/05/2017 08:31

Eyuk, finally a decent sleep... Only woke the once, and woke up feeling instantly sick and as tired as I felt last night.

Can see this being a long ass day.

Can't I just in my bed all day. DP is there too as his surgery the other day.

I really ought to paint a big red cross on the door to warn off visitors!!

Lemondrop99 · 26/05/2017 08:31

Oklahoma!!!!!! 😱😱😱😱😱 And to think I used to like you! Get out!!!!

Just kidding. My best friend is actually a Slytherin, as is my DH! Eeeep!

I haven't taken promethazine for insominia because I so anti the stuff since I spent three months totally zombified on it. That said, when I do need to top up with one for nausea, I try to take it as late as I can and I have always slept very well those nights.

Mustang, how are you getting on? Are you home yet? Hoping you're feeling better

OnNaturesCourse · 26/05/2017 08:33

According to the wand match service in Orlando my DP is a death eater! ✋😂

Lemondrop99 · 26/05/2017 08:34

😂😂😂😂😂😂 Oh dear!!!! Let's hope baby takes after you!

Hollyhop17 · 26/05/2017 08:39

Yeah I take promethezine, but it has never had a sedative effect on me sadly. Glad I managed to get some last night, not even a trip to the loo! But 7 is the absolute latest I will wake up, which is a shame, more of the day to live with the nausea...

Exciting news for scans today Flap and Lemon. Enjoy seeing your little ones and please do report back!

Oklahoma, how goes the new house?

Mustang, how are you getting on?

Melleebacca · 26/05/2017 08:48

OnNature - just lock the door and pretend not to hear it, a bed day sounds exactly like what you need.

Peace - is the banquet in the pink castle keeping you busy?

Lemon - we took DD at 9 months as hubby travels overseas at least 3 times a year, and he needed to be in the states for a month, so we joined him for 10 days. We didn't go on any rides, but we took photos and saw some shows. DD loved the Zoo more though. If you travel with a kid under 2, they sit on your lap and you don't have to pay for the cost of an additional seat. If they're young enough they can get a bassinet to sleep in too, so the flight wasn't bad at all.

Nursery wise - we did a neutral theme of bright colours, matches the rest of the house so everything is interchangeable. And against popular belief, DD was sleeping in the nursery from 2 weeks old (as soon as I was recovered enough to be able to walk and lift). But our house layout means the nursery is essentially right outside our bedroom door. I had to have her further away so I could get some sleep, otherwise I woke to every noise (doesn't help she's a sleep talker now).

Off to bed now. Hope everyone has a lovely puke-free day!

OnNaturesCourse · 26/05/2017 08:59

Unfortunately works calls. It would look suspicious of I didn't go on the Friday before the bank holiday weekend... 😴

My bumps room will be right next door to ours so I suspect he or she will be there from 2-3 months old.

Oklahoma · 26/05/2017 09:17

We took Oklette to New York when she was 7m and that was fine. They're fine when they're small it's when they're mobile it's a nightmare as they won't sit still on the flight.

The new house is great but there is so much to do and I just can't manage it. I have some excellent lists for other people to do though.

Oklette moved into her own room at 8w and this one I imagine will be even sooner as their room adjoins ours.

Good luck to the scannees today!

OnNaturesCourse · 26/05/2017 09:30

I hope you all share these scans with us!

I personally think the scans give me a kick of motivation after a feeling so crap. Good luck all xxx
