sorry for being presumptuous enough to start a new thread but I had so much to catch up on and fill you in on...

hiya all - finally settled and have pc at home!! Singapore was wonderful if exhausting. The heat took a lot out of me but it was great to have the break before we headed into the move again. We are in our house and settled - almost unpacked - just books and non essentials left to sort out.

had my first real ante natal appt last week - found a great GP - very approachable and very pro - woman's choice re: everything - amount and type of testing - I had three hospitals to choose from. She then did a proper antenatal consultation and I got to hear the baby's heart beat - great I also have my referral for my scan but have yet to have a date.

Halfway( 20 weeks) today - EDD is 5th November.

Over here the antenatal care is either shared between the GP and the hospital consultant or is all hospital based - there are a couple of midwife led birthing units but very hard to get into - done by ballot system and at this late stage no way I would even get a look in.

Gp was brilliant - took all I had to tell her about last pregnancy in her stride and rather than preaching and assuming what I wanted ( like the GP and midwife in UK) she asked me what I wanted.

Unlike the UK - homebirths are extremely rare - I have decided to have a hospital birth in the major hospital for the state - should anything like last time happen again I am right there rather than having to be transferred or having the baby transferred.

Now I just have to wait for them to get back to me with an anomaly scan date. Hopefully all being well - next week.

Glad to hear all is well with everyone else - baby is moving and heard it swishing around whilst the GP was trying to hear the heartbeat. Definitely in maternity clothes now - got some good jeans from George/ASDA before we left.

Take care....

Ha ha Sam, Kiddybins - yup, never thought of that !!! I meant for the little bits of playmobil etc..their screw top tubs are fab (sorry webmum!)

Glad your scan was okay Bunny.

Take care all

Samcj · 14/07/2004 15:05

Glad all was well Bunny!

Flossam · 14/07/2004 15:41

Hi there, I'm just posting to let you know that this is the new me!! I've changed my name after a lot of deliberation from samcj for fear everything was a bit to obvious!! So I hope I don't confuse anyone!

gingernut · 14/07/2004 16:24

Great news Sam. Good luck for tomorrow arwen and to you for next week bunny. Maybe you'll get a surprise and find out it's a girl!

Signing off for a week now...hope you all keep well and keep your fingers crossed we have decent weather please!

Samcj · 14/07/2004 17:03

Good luck Arewen... (sorry haven't quite figured out you name properly yet!) Make sure you let us know how it goes.

Are you back yet Bronze? Any news?!
Have a lovely holiday Gingernut, some nice time to try and relax, very well timed!!

Still having probs with gas company, disputing I ever paid them anything at all bar £50, and now reckon I owe them nearly £400. I have had to organise with the bank for them to send me copies of ALL the cheques I sent EVER for the year that I lived there, something that will take a couple of weeks, I don't know the cost. This, along with exact move in and out dates (again already supplied at the time) is to prove to the company that I have paid anything at all, otherwise I am liable to pay for it all, even though I obviously did not have two gas supplies.

The gas company have said for the third time they will stall the debt collectors, they haven't bothered to contact them at all so far so I don't hold out much hope. Really is bothering me now! Feeling very sorry for myself, I know there are much bigger things to worry about, sorry for the rant.

Quackers · 14/07/2004 17:35

Hi Bunny! Thanks for message. Gald you're doing well! I'm 38 plus 2 now and baby has decided to go breech!! I'm just off up to the hospital to confirm position and then they'll have to decide when to section if bubbs decides to stay that way, now I'm scared!

Samcj · 14/07/2004 20:29

Arewen, sorry I meant to post your answer sooner, only just remembered this afternoon! The pencil test is when you put a pen/pencil under your naked (!) boob (a bra is cheating!!) and see if it stays or falls to the floor. If it falls you can still consider yourself to be perky, if it dosen't then things are maybe starting to head south...! Good luck!

arwenevenstar · 14/07/2004 20:35

Ohdefinately off to Oz mine! Boo

Samcj · 14/07/2004 20:44

Sorry, bet you wish I hadn't posted now! In all honesty I haven't tested again since, and I seem to be noticing more skin on skin contact down there!!

Bronze · 15/07/2004 00:26

Bron

arwenevenstar · 15/07/2004 10:06

Wahay Bronze......the male population will be more than doubled this year then!!! As for the chickens, you sound like my sort of person!! Fresh eggs lovely.....actually my craving has been eggs this time around!

Anyone else had cravings? I have also craved vegetables and fruit (makes a change from the crisps and fruit gums the last two times!)

Before you wonder, I am an hour ahead, but YES, it is early....couldn't sleep, only 1.5 hours to go!

Catch up later, enjoy your Saturday mornings.

eidsvold · 15/07/2004 11:08

no real cravings yet... not much else happening jsut feeling a bit tired this week.

Glad to hear all the scans have gone well.

Samcj · 15/07/2004 12:10

Good luck with your scan today Arewen (I hope you don't mind me calling you that!) Look forward to hearing how it went! Will you be finding out what it is I wonder?

My god Bronze, we really have to be heading for some thought of record on this thread with all these boys don't you think!! Congratulations!!

Samcj · 15/07/2004 12:12

Oh, and I craved fruit and veg too, bit of a nightmare getting the veg when we were on hols in turkey I can tell you!! Also watsits/quavers, depending which I've made mysefl sick of, and marmite and chicken and ham paste sanwiches on white bread. Which were interesting.

webmum · 15/07/2004 12:43

feeling a bit low today, dd made quitea scene at nursery when I dropped her off.

I know she's happy there and she's been going for over 2 years now, but some days she jsut seems to find it necessary to make me feel bad (and miss my train)
What really got to me was that she chatting about nursery all the way to the car, was quite happya bout going, she told me about one her favourite staff there, and when I said goodbye she just hung to me and begged me to stay with her!! I was shocked by her sudden change and they had to prise her away from me
5 minutes later I phoned adn she was happyly having breakfast why does she have to do this to me?????

PandaBear · 15/07/2004 13:08

Glad everyone is doing well. We're doing OK too, although starting to find sleeping a bit of a nightmare... does anyone else get woken up by cramp? What do you do for it?

Webmum - I know what you mean! My DD is great at giving me a guilt trip when I go to work! I guess the thing is to know that they are actually OK when you're not there, and it's nice to know they miss you! Not that easy at the time though, is it!

webmum · 15/07/2004 13:42

Hi Pandabear

I know I know, but I can't belive sh's still doing this at 3!!

ANyway, I also get cramps, but I usually wake up jsut before and manage to avoid them by strecthing my leg with toes pointing up? IYKWIM?
Sorry not sure how to explain....

arwenevenstar · 15/07/2004 16:59

Well, I am back and it looks like all is fine [sigh of relief emoticon]

I also feel I should be leaving you too as I no longer fit the mould!! It's a girlie!! Very excited I must admit. What with the boys' testosterone and her and my hormones.....perfect family I have to say I DID wonder due to the lack of marmite which I really ate loads of with the boys!! silly eh?

Take care all

collision · 15/07/2004 19:24

Cramps here too!! Excruciating pain that almost make me cry......so painful. Read that it could be to do with low sodium so will check it with the doctor next time. Also, I have dreadful backache which is really hurting me. Not a good week really!!

Am interested to know.....a lot of people have found out the sex of the baby. Do you think that is because other Nov Mums have done the same and it has convinced you to do the same or do you think you would have done it anyway? I have a scan in Aug and am finding out the sex if I can, but since you all found out it has made me more excited than ever!! Peer pressure, I think!!!!

bunny2 · 15/07/2004 20:02

DONT YIELD TO PEER PRESSURE!

I get cramps too

Webmum, ds is 4 and still has the odd day when he clings to me and wont let go. They just love to make us feel guilty.

Samcj · 15/07/2004 20:41

Hurrah! A girl! We aren't a load of mutants on this thread!! (No offence) Glad everything went well for you, all those pretty clothes that I still want to buy for my baby... Poor thing!

Flossam · 15/07/2004 21:06

I would of found anyway, not because I was particularly bothered but because DP was so determined to! Kind of felt I made decisions about the pregnancy so I'd let him have this one! Quite pleased I did though because he is now very very excited, asking how is boy is and telling me how excited he is about babies arrival! Think it has made it that much more real for him. It would be very nice to have a big surprise when the day comes too though! What does you beloved want?

webmum · 15/07/2004 23:19

bunny2 I think you're right, cunny little things.

I've always wanted to know the sex and often felt like a freak as it doesn't seem very common in the UK, am still hoping to find out....I think it's still a nice surprise, only a bit in advance!!

bunny2 · 15/07/2004 23:22

that's great news Arwen. I am really glad you are over the fraught bit, I hope you can start to really enjoy your pregnancy now as I am finally doing.
