Today I've been admitted to hospital and told my baby will need to be delivered in next 24 hours due to poor growth and almost no waters. Baby is only measuring at 1lb 2oz with a less than 50% chance of survival. My husband and I are devastated and terrified. Has anyone been in a similar situation?

Oh goodness me, what a shock! Congratulations on your sweet baby girl. My friend was born at 24 weeks and is now a CEO and living the high life ;)

Thinking of you all and hoping for the nest for your baby girl Flowers

AnchorDownDeepBreath · 13/10/2016 17:54

Thinking of you and her, and sending the best fighting vibes. I hope you're all as okay as can be. Flowers

Titchypanda · 13/10/2016 18:42

Thanks all, she is still doing ok. Strong heart, wiggling her arms and legs and they have changed her from intubation to cpap as her breathing is doing ok

Wow great news that she's on CPAP already! Flowers

Igottastartthinkingbee · 13/10/2016 19:05

Sorry posted too soon, were you able to have steroids before you delivered? Makes a huge difference to their lung function.

Mermaid36 · 13/10/2016 19:17

That's amazing she is on CPAP! Grin Flowers

Congratulations OP, my son was born at 28+3 he hadn't grown since his 20 week scan, He was early due to umbilical cord issues so he didn't grow. He weighed 1lb 10oz which must seem huge to you. I was so scarred, worried and every day was a roller coaster of emotions. He struggled to put on weight and had various infections but he came through it all and is now a lovely eight year old. He is smaller than most boys his age and has the most gorgeous delicate little face. I'm sure you're daughter will be a fighter too and it is true premature girls are stronger than premature boys. Talk to her and love her, take a blanket to bed or a cloth toy then put it in her incubator if you can do she can smell you and feel that you are near her. I'm a strong believer that if she feels your love she'll have extra fight in her. My boy was in hospital up until his due date and it was really hard but we got through it even though at times I didn't think I could.

BusterGonad · 13/10/2016 19:24

P.s It is amazing that she is already on CPAP what a strong little girl!

MumOfTwoMasterOfNone · 13/10/2016 19:29

You can only go on their advice and do the bet for your baby. I can't imagine what you must feel like, I very much hope he or she is ok OP Flowers

My daughter is 9 this month and was born at 31 weeks. I remember it all so clearly. It's so frightening and overwhelming but sounds like your little girl is doing so well. Xx

Borntobeamum · 13/10/2016 19:40

RTKangaMummy · 14/10/2016 01:39

Excellent news about CPAP SmileSmileSmileSmileSmileSmileSmile

TinyTitchyPanda certainly is doing amazingly well to be just on CPAP after 24 hours but please don't worry if she needs to be given more oxygen or be intubated with Oxygen sometime later

When DS was in NNU ITU as a premmie, each day it seemed like it was 2 steps forward and 1 step back but like I said earlier he is now 21 years old and 6' tall

Hope the grandparents had a good visit today with her, you and your DH SmileSmileSmile

Oysterbabe · 14/10/2016 06:50

Stay strong teeny panda Flowers

LittleLionMansMummy · 14/10/2016 08:57

She sounds strong titchy, as do you. I can't begin to imagine what you're going through, but sending good thoughts and strength your way for the days and weeks ahead.

KayTee87 · 14/10/2016 10:20

Sorry you're going through this. My friends baby was born at 23 weeks and given a 10% chance of survival - he's a happy boy 2 years later and expecting a new sibling soon!
Ask for the steroids if you haven't had them and my prayers will be with you Flowers

KayTee87 · 14/10/2016 10:22

I dont know how I missed the updates! I really don't like this app!
