Today I've been admitted to hospital and told my baby will need to be delivered in next 24 hours due to poor growth and almost no waters. Baby is only measuring at 1lb 2oz with a less than 50% chance of survival. My husband and I are devastated and terrified. Has anyone been in a similar situation?

Sending lots of love and luck to you all.
My twins were 26 weekers (18 years ago) so I know some of what you're going through.

I don't have any experience OP, but this little boy has been in our local press a fair bit, and was a 23weeker weighing only just over 1lb

Hope tomorrow goes as well as it can

Thinking of you OP and your DH and baby.

Good luck op. I have been in this situation, giving birth at 25+4. The outcome was devestating. My beautiful dd had been without waters since 21 weeks. Despite me brining it to my gps attention, he told me I was just paronoid. It really depends on when the waters went. Yy to steroid shots, I'm sure they have already been done, hence your 24hour wait?

Sorry to to have nice news like many posters above, but just to let you know that if the worse happens, you are not alone.

My friend gave birth at 24 weeks and her baby is doing very well now and recently had her 4th birthday!! However I know how you feel about being told your baby may not survive, at 21 weeks we were told the same and that our baby's heart didn't develop as expected. I'm 28 weeks now and dreading him being born as that's when he's no longer safe and the rest is unknown. All I. Can suggest is stay strong and trust the doctors x

Ladybunnyfluff · 12/10/2016 11:48

Hope you are ok. I am only slightly further than you and currently being monitored for reduced growth velocity. The very best of luck to you and baby Flowers

Ilovetorrentialrain · 12/10/2016 12:44

AlL the very, very best to you and your family OP. X

Titchypanda · 12/10/2016 18:20

She was born today weighing 1lb1oz. Strong heartbeat, moving lots but needs breathing help. It's 50/50 and a long road ahead or a sad one. We are trying to stay positive. Thanks for all the advice and personal experiences shared x

Tattoosandteadresses · 12/10/2016 18:33

Congratulations on the birth of your DD Titchy. Thinking of you both x

sebashocked · 12/10/2016 18:33

Many, many congratulations. The mixed emotions of excitement and all-consuming terror are a complete mind-fuck. The breathing help is absolutely to be expected for a good few weeks. Take it one hour and one day at a time and look after yourself -sleep, eat and talk through your emotions- so you can be as strong as possible in the coming days and weeks. She is obviously a little fighter. Sending unmumsnetty xxxxs
