Today I've been admitted to hospital and told my baby will need to be delivered in next 24 hours due to poor growth and almost no waters. Baby is only measuring at 1lb 2oz with a less than 50% chance of survival. My husband and I are devastated and terrified. Has anyone been in a similar situation?

Glad to hear review showed some good signs. Are you allowed to put anything in her cot while she's awake?

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 26/01/2017 06:57

That last photo of her... she's HUGE!

All the best for the next steps. Flowers

We took some small toys in for the twins when they were around that age. Soft toys had to be washable and plastic toys needed to be wipeable. We had a few of both that we could give them in their cots or bouncy chairs.

Bea is is Special Care! She went up to scbu yesterday. She's done 2 full days on low flow so far. She's trying with her bottles but she gets tired very fast as she's using more energy to breathe. Once she has a set level on low flow and settles into it, her feeding should pick up again. She enjoys sitting in the little bouncer as long as no one bounces her! She likes being rocked if I hold her standing up. She shouts when I sit down! She's very alert and nosy! Her ROP seems to be resolving after the op, they check her weekly to make sure. She likes to copy Daddy moving her hands around like he does and sticking her tongue out! She can just about hold a dummy in by herself and if you give her a rattle she can hold it. She's definitely enjoying having lots of attention and playing with the Nursery nurses.

Followed your post when you first had Bea and then lost it. Fab to catch up and hear she's still fighting and developing so well.

This was me 21 years ago. Emergency caesarian at 25 and a half weeks. Baby delivered weighing 1lb 10oz (was lucky there - a decent weight for that gestation I think). She had less than 50% chance, but SCBU staff were wonderful and very supportive. She is now 21 and at medical school. The best advice we got was: "Take each day as it comes and count each day as a blessing." We also tried very hard to give her something to live for - went into the SCBU twice a day, sang songs to her (not allowed to pick her up for some time), read poems, showed her colouful pictures, played music to her, talked to her a lot. Really, really hope it goes well for you. Best wishes to you and your baby.xxx

OMG Shock

We have a set oxygen level, monitoring has been removed, discharge plan has been started. Bea could be home NEXT week!

Bea is 118 days old today, she is so alert and loves to play. She's decided Mummy is the comfiest bed! She still has her story with Daddy and her ng tube is gone!

I'm equal parts excited and terrified!

This has been such a long journey, this thread and all the lovely people who have commented have been a great support!

Flowers fantastic news!!! I'm so pleased for you. Thank you for updating.

Gooseygoosey12345 · 06/02/2017 20:12

So sorry to hear of your struggles. My daughters aunt stopped growing at 20 weeks and was born at 24 weeks. She's now a perfectly healthy, very clever 12 y/o. I know not everyone has the same outcome but medicine is so advanced, I really hope it's a happy ending for you Flowers
