Today I've been admitted to hospital and told my baby will need to be delivered in next 24 hours due to poor growth and almost no waters. Baby is only measuring at 1lb 2oz with a less than 50% chance of survival. My husband and I are devastated and terrified. Has anyone been in a similar situation?

Titchy I have been wondering how you were going and love that latest photo - what a lovely round baby you have there! Good lock with this next turn of the roller coaster .

RTKangaMummy · 21/01/2017 12:21

Oh Titchy that would have been so hard to be wanting to cuddle her to calm her down but at the same time knowing you have to concentrate on listening to what the surgeons were saying xxxxxx

It does sound as though they understand your worries about ventilation but that the consequences of delaying the surgery are very serious for Bea's future

I am pleased that she likes the bouncy chair and will settle to sleep in it while listening to stories SmileSmileSmile

Sending {{{{{cyberhugs}}}}} to you, TitchyDaddy and Bea xxxxx

Have been following this from the start, she sounds like a right little fighter, hope all goes well with the laser surgery, and the next three months before she comes home goes super quick Flowers

RTKangaMummy · 22/01/2017 00:01

RTKangaMummy · 23/01/2017 11:13

Hope Bea's surgery went well and that the surgeons are happy with the result Smile

It must have been a horrible day for you and TitchyPanda Daddy Flowers

And of course it was her first EDD yesterday Smile

Titchypanda · 24/01/2017 07:54

Hi everyone, doctor thinks the laser surgery was successful. He will check her eyes again on Wednesday. She came off the vent yesterday morning. She's a little cranky as sore eyes and was hungry from being on restricted feeds. She seems her usual cheeky self again.

Pancakeflipper · 24/01/2017 23:08

Just read from beginning to now about Bea's bumpy arrival. She's amazing - obviously takes her very brave mummy.

Hope all is going ok

Titchypanda · 25/01/2017 00:24

She's been very cranky today. Really difficult to settle her. She's back in high dependency, but they want to move her back to other HDU room as she's too noisy to be in the one joined to ICU. She spent a lot of today yelling, I think the staff are hoping a bed frees up soon! She's been feeding well and her high flow has been reduced to 3.5L.

She is very alert and trying to hold things. She had fun playing with Daddy. He was pulling silly faces and tickling her arms to make her smile. She got so excited that she threw up. We are hoping in next month or so she can come home.

Yelling, playing and being alert- all great signs of energy! Go noisy Bea!

RTKangaMummy · 25/01/2017 01:11

It is brilliant that her oxygen has gone to 3.5 and her feeding is going so well SmileSmileSmile

I guess she is allowed a "cranky" day after the last few days she has had with the surgery etc etc

I love the fact that she is so alert while you are there SmileSmileSmile

Is there a buggy/pushchair that you can take her for a walk around the unit?

When we were in NNU we went for walks up and down the corridors of the unit with portable oxygen tanks strapped to the NNU special buggy and other monitors on the shopping tray underneath

It made us feel great to be taking him for a walk for 20 mins or so even though we didn't go outside SmileSmileSmile

(Then we went up and down the corridors of the maternity unit then the pavement outside just before he came home, but this was a very hot summer)

furlinedsheepskinjacket · 25/01/2017 01:43

awww

your post took me back to when my dd was born and in hospital

she was the noisiest one - and the cheekiest one in the whole unit

good luck to you and your lovely girl

RTKangaMummy · 25/01/2017 19:55

How did the review of Bea's eyes go today TitchyPanda?

Hope it is a good result Smile

Titchypanda · 25/01/2017 23:00

Kanga, she's still on high flow so can't really go anywhere. We do sit her in the bouncy chair though. Scbu is on a different floor to rest of neonatal and it's only a handful of rooms, so we're not able to walk them anywhere. They're not allowed to leave scbu until discharge unless going back to HDU/ICU.

The review said it was showing positive signs. She has another in a couple of weeks. She's back in the other HDU room now. She spends a lot of time yelling once she's awake! She is 15 weeks old tomorrow and likes attention. She must be very bored just lying in cot.

RTKangaMummy · 25/01/2017 23:27

Realise now it was a silly question cos it must of been when DS came off CPAP and on low flow that we went for walks Blush

In the NNU he was in was in a really old Victorian building with lots of corridors and small rooms off them for ITU, HDU and SCBU all within the dept (buzzer entry and exit etc)

Do you have a mirror that you can put in her cot between the walls of the cot/incubator and the mattress that she can look in to pull faces at herself while she is in there?

Pleased that the review showed some positive signs today SmileSmileSmileSmile
