Today I've been admitted to hospital and told my baby will need to be delivered in next 24 hours due to poor growth and almost no waters. Baby is only measuring at 1lb 2oz with a less than 50% chance of survival. My husband and I are devastated and terrified. Has anyone been in a similar situation?

I managed to get an urgent referral thanks to our amazing nurses and see a perinatal psychologist every 2-4 weeks. She comes to the neonatal unit to see me or we have phone appointments. It's really helping to talk to her.

My husband took this picture this afternoon. It seems to be her favourite way to sleep! She seems so big now! Almost 5 times her birth weight!

Awh happy 100 days Bea! Can't get over how much she's grown. What a trooper.

Scrumptiouscrumpets · 19/01/2017 17:53

Lovely update on Bea! I hope the eye surgery goes well.
You said her due date is on Sunday, are you going to celebrate? I baked a non-birthday cake for DS1's due date and we had a little celebration. It was sad but also cathartic iyswim.

VimFuego101 · 19/01/2017 17:56

That's amazing... well done Bea.

Purplebluebird · 19/01/2017 17:58

clumsyduck · 19/01/2017 17:59

What a star little bea is !! Flowers

Titchypanda · 19/01/2017 18:14

Our nurses are amazing! She got a card signed by the nurses and presents too! We even had her sat in a bouncy chair for first time. She liked bouncing but was a bit sick. She likes it more as a chair I think!

You've done so well titchy, I'm glad that you are now having some targeted support.
You are an inspiration. Flowers

Kanga, she is having laser surgery on Sunday. I'm terrified of her going back on the vent again.

Oh Titchy! So many congratulations on your gorgeous (and chunky!) little girl! Thank god I am pregnant because that exquisite most recent picture of you and her definitely make my ovaries skip many beats! Heaven! She is so snuggly!

You are such an incredible mummy.

RTKangaMummy · 20/01/2017 22:36

Titchy I know you must be so scared xxx

Titchy I think the only thing you can think of is they think she is strong enough to have the surgery now SmileSmileSmile

Also, if she needs to be ventilated again she is bigger and her lungs are bigger and stronger than last time and so even though she might just need a bit extra help for few days while she recovers from operation she will be stronger to be able to get off it again ...... fingers and toes crossed xxxxx

She will have all the power and positive vibes from MN behind her on Sunday xxxxxx

PetalMettle · 21/01/2017 07:59

Seeing this thread for the first time. What a beautiful little girl and what an amazing mummy you are. As someone who struggled to be a good mum to my term baby I think you are astonishing.
Hope all goes well on Sunday x

bijouxxx · 21/01/2017 09:29

I followed this thread when you first went into labour and for the immediate weeks after but for some reason it dropped off my watch list and I couldn't find it again, I am so glad it's popped back into my active threads! Little Bea is doing amazingly and those photos are just adorable, she is so big now Smile. Good luck for tomorrow I know it's scary but as a PP said the doctors wouldn't be doing it if they knew she wasn't strong enough.

Titchypanda · 21/01/2017 11:27

They weighed it up and decided the risk of her losing her sight outweighed the risks of ventilation. The surgeon said it could wait a few days but if there was a bleed in that time it would be harder to do. I didn't want to leave her yesterday and she wouldn't settle after eye exam until I held her. I wanted to hold her straight after but the nurse held her so that I was listening to doctor, but it's hard to focus when you know your baby just wants mummy or daddy. She settled straight away as soon as we had a cuddle. She got a bit cranky later and wouldn't settle again. So we sat her in a bouncy chair and read her a story and she went to sleep. It is hard knowing you can't make things better just with a cuddle.
