Today I've been admitted to hospital and told my baby will need to be delivered in next 24 hours due to poor growth and almost no waters. Baby is only measuring at 1lb 2oz with a less than 50% chance of survival. My husband and I are devastated and terrified. Has anyone been in a similar situation?

Brilliant news! So glad she is progressing!

The oxygen thing is so frustrating, but she'll get there. My girls are down to 0.2l now at home

Op your pictures are amazing to look at, even me with a heart of stone is welling up.

No experience myself, ds was bloody huge (an experience ive tried to forget) but 2 friends, 1 ds was born at 30 weeks, weighed 3.5 when born and stayed in ecu for 8 weeks - Now 2 and a little cheeky chops!

Other friend, daughter was born at 26 weeks due to waters gone, weighed just 2lb we took pictures of her next to a bag of sugar and she was smaller - Shes now 8 and a handful! Well done to you op, shes fabulous.

BridgetDarcy · 20/12/2016 23:40

This happened to my friend. Her baby is 16 years old now and just lovely. Good luck!

Thank you for all the well wishes. Bea had to go back on cpap on 17th as she was really struggling. Since being on cpap, she seems much better, so the consultant has decided to leave her on it for a week or so to rest, grow and regain her strength. She's currently 1.715kg, still liking her food and stories. She pokes her tongue out at Daddy as soon as she sees him as that is what he always does to her.

We had a bit of scare on 21st when she stopped breathing for a few seconds, had a profound desat and Brady and went blue, but I was able to prod her enough for her to start breathing again by time nurse reached us. Took us a few minutes but we stabilised her. She later had a massive desat and Brady and was beginning to go blue, but as I'd noticed it was coming, we'd got her back in the incubator as it started and she sorted herself out with no intervention. They are wondering if she is getting reflux, so monitoring Sats whilst feeding.

She is still her usual cheeky self and dribbling everywhere and we get the odd smile too.

Oh gosh titchy, sounds like such a rocky road for you all at the moment.

Been away over Christmas and just seen this. Hang in there little Bea - wishing her and you lots of strength.

What a scary time for you Titchy. Sounds like Bea is a champ and you are coping amazingly.
Love the details about tongue sticking out and smiling.
Sending lots of positive thoughts and strength to you!

I've just found this thread. I was interested as my niece had a baby at 25 weeks. She is running about now.

Re clothing. Try contacting Loving Hands. My friend knits for them and I have looked at the site a few times and I know people make premmie clothes. I 'm sure if you approached them they would send you some for little Bea. Marvellous photos. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year with her.😄

MadisonAvenue · 28/12/2016 21:24

Hi Titchy, I hope Bea's doing well now Flowers

Cococrumble · 30/12/2016 19:42

Hi titchy hope you're all doing well.

Baby crumble arrived in a dramatic fashion so has been keeping me very busy but I've been thinking of you and Bea often. Hope you had a good Christmas!

UnoriginalNN · 01/01/2017 18:52

Hope you are all OK OP. Thinking of Bea and hoping it's been a smoother week.

Titchypanda · 01/01/2017 23:40

The unit make such a big effort and spoil all the babies with lots of Christmas presents. We had lovely cuddles on Christmas and Boxing Day with Bea.

Unfortunately I have seen her only once for an hour from mostly afar since Boxing Day as both myself and husband have cold/flu bug and are not allowed to visit until we are clear. I'm really missing Bea. I'm probably not going to be able to visit this week either as don't seem to be getting better.

Bea has been doing really well, they reduced the pressures on her cpap this week and today started cycling it with low flow. She seems to be coping ok with that. She's finally tipped the 2kg and is 4lb7oz. The nurses have been great and take pictures to put in her diary and write in it for us too. If there are enough staff on, one of the nurses will give her a cuddle and read her a story too as they know that's what we would do. Bea is now the oldest baby on the neonatal unit (icu/HDU) at 82 days. In special care there are 2 older. Both due to go home soon. 1 is 136 days and the other almost 100 days.

Lovely update Titchy Smile
So happy you had a lively Christmas. I hope you get better really quickly- how lovely that the staff have been so ready to step in with cuddles and stories.

I've been following your story with great interest over the past few months, during lots of complications and hospital stays in my own pregnancy. Last Tuesday on 27 weeks exactly my baby boy was safely delivered with emergency c section and is now in NICU. The whole experience is of course very scary but I have to say that having read about your journey I had much better knowledge of what to expect and it gave me strength and courage. Thank you so so much for sharing it and I wish you so much good health and fortune for you and Bea in 2017!
