Ha, I think it's too high up - think it's just bloomin heavy overdue bump ache

Jenjen86 · 26/01/2016 15:11

I have an "upset tummy" today...so rarely in ones life is that considered to be a good thing! Haha. Hoping it's a good sign...!

LibertyBelles · 26/01/2016 15:15

Hope that's a good sign jenjen! On another note has anyone in this group tried cough nipple stimulation to bring on labour?

Jenjen86 · 26/01/2016 15:21

Thanks liberty :) I read about the 'ahem' nipple stimulation but it said you need to.do it for about 15 minutes 3 times per day which at the time (a few weeks ago) seemed like a lot of effort. Now I'm getting to the point that I might start giving it a go...

mrsjskelton · 26/01/2016 15:21

Yes!! Upset stomach is a good thing!!

As for nipple stimulation - I've heard good and bad things.
a) it can do more harm than good
b) it needs to be done correctly
c) some say you need to do it for hours!!

What do you think?

OP posts:
LibertyBelles · 26/01/2016 15:27

Agree with both of you, the lactation consultant at my breastfeeding class actively told us to do it to avoid going overdue (HAH!) but reading online it can cause overstimulation of the uterus

MaisieDotes · 27/01/2016 08:32

Has anyone heard anything about evening primrose oil?

I've taken a few capsules since yesterday but the advice seems to generally be that you need to, er, insert them as a pessary and I don't really want to do that!

LibertyBelles · 27/01/2016 08:44

Hey maisie I was doing this - both inserting vaginally and taking orally but when I went to my 40 week appointment and she couldn't do a sweep because cervix was so unfavourable I sort of gave up since it didn't seem to be doing anything for me at all

MaisieDotes · 27/01/2016 08:58

Oh thanks liberty - I don't know why but I'm a bit afraid of inserting them? Give me another day or two and I'm sure I'll be desperate enough overcome the fear!

Also ate half a pineapple yesterday including the core and gave myself a really sore mouth and tongue Blush

I believe you need to eat about 8 pineapples to induce labour so I don't think I'll make it!

LibertyBelles · 27/01/2016 09:13

No Probs maisie I was too but once you've done it once it's fine! How far overdue are you?

MaisieDotes · 27/01/2016 09:29

I'm not even overdue Blush - it's my due date today!

I just feel overdue because my other two were early.

I'm thinking of booking in for acupuncture. I had reflexology last time and I thought it made no difference but now I'm not so sure.

mrsjskelton · 27/01/2016 09:46

I bought clary sage oil from H&B yesterday and bathed in it last night - contractions started in the middle of the night, carried on this morning but have died down. Just had another bath and they've made another appearance and had a bit of a show... It got me all excited and now back to nothing!! I've mixed some in some moisturiser and rubbed it into my bump! Let's see what happens!

LibertyBelles · 27/01/2016 09:47

Ah that's ok maisie I joined this thread on my due date too! The longer I wait the more I am agreeing with everyone who says nothing you do makes any difference. So now I'm just trying to relax (which I'm finding very hard at night but ok in the day) Sad

MaisieDotes · 27/01/2016 09:52

liberty I actually joined it on day one, I was very cheeky! But here I am at 40 weeks. I think you're right and it's just a waiting game but I'm so impatient Blush

mrsj that sounds promising! Today might be the day!

oneconfusedchick · 27/01/2016 10:09

Liberty - I really wanted to believe I could induce labour with my first and nothing worked until I was hooked up to a drip in hospital! I tried so many things!!

I am inclined now to think babies will come when ready altho I don't think I will be refusing an induction.

LibertyBelles · 27/01/2016 10:29

mrsj ooo I'd been thinking about clary sage but cervix was so unfavourable on Monday I'm not sure anything will work until it decides to move itself anterior!
chick being zen about it is hard though, I feel if I end up being induced I will have failed - literally every woman on my side of the family has done it all completely naturally!

ampersandand · 27/01/2016 10:50

I'm 40+1 with ds2 today.

For the last 3 weeks I've been certain I'm about to go into labour every night.

Back pain, cramps, regular and painful braxton hicks that hilariously turn into nothing.

I'd rather have been having no signs until something's actually going to happen!

I have a midwife appointment tomorrow and interested to see if she'll have a check and see what's going on down there.

LibertyBelles · 27/01/2016 11:03

Keep us up to date ampersand

oneconfusedchick · 27/01/2016 13:53

Liberty I think it's normal to feel that way, I wouldn't say I was happy to be induced but I've been through it with my first. I had a consultant appointment with my first and he pushed for induction at +11 due to increased still birth risk- who was I to argue - altho I had a difficult experience first time around I saw it as best thing to do for baby. Maybe u could look at it like that? Your not a failure if you don't go into labour naturally at all x

oneconfusedchick · 27/01/2016 13:54

Hi amper I am also 40+1 today! No real signs for me tho apart from odd twinge and ache a lot when walking!

LibertyBelles · 27/01/2016 16:27

Tried rubbing some clary sage on bump at about 1.30, nothing yet but I do feel more relaxed so that's something

mrsjskelton · 27/01/2016 16:33

Liberty it's such an amazing relaxant! I've had 2 baths with around 6-8 drops in each time and I'm just about dead to the world - amazing!! Then mixed when lavender lotion and I'm basically uselessSmile

LibertyBelles · 27/01/2016 16:41

Haha mrsjskelton - yeah I'm going to am have another go just before bed and hopefully I might sleep for an entire night. I live in hope!!!

Blerg · 28/01/2016 06:44

Hello everyone! Very happy to say brand new baby son born on Tuesday after a lovely short labour. I was booked for induction at 11am the next day so very relieved and happy.

I went to 40+13 (so an improvement on DD at 40+17 who was induced). This time I really think optimal fetal positioning and reflexology helped me.

Good luck to you all, hopefully to see more babies soon x

MaisieDotes · 28/01/2016 06:51

Congratulations blerg! Smile Flowers

Welcome to the world babyblerg!
