Come on ladies, how are you feeling?

Poorly toddler still pretty poorly, but relieved it's nothing scary by their reckoning. He's currently poorly enough that I'd not feel ok about leaving him with anyone but his dad. So if baby comes tonight, I'm having him on my own (in hospital, with midwives...).

HJBeans · 27/02/2016 19:48

Leaky stuff sounds no fun at all. Have been thinking of that whole "mum must feel safe and secure in her 'cave' to get labour started" thing and wondering how it's this week the house decides to fall to bits. Good luck getting yours sorted.

cremedecacao · 28/02/2016 10:47

Yes, you might be right about the cave thing!! Landlord round at the moment, making a lot of mysterious clanking noises Hmmplasterer coming tomorrow evening. Does this mean I can go into labour after that?!

HJBeans · 28/02/2016 20:33

Here's hoping. Boiler conked out again this morning, but now fixed again. Quite crampy since dinner. Something starting? Or more likely too full of pizza...

fififolle · 28/02/2016 20:36

Good to hear that your boiler is fixed beans.
I'm in the hospital being monitored having had a double dose of prostaglandin gel at 2.30pm.

HJBeans · 29/02/2016 07:17

Oooh, that's exciting, fifi. Hope something's started (and finished?) for you by now!

cremedecacao · 29/02/2016 08:58

How are you Fifi and HJ? Any progress?

I got excited last night as I had lots of Braxton hicks and pressure on my cervix. I had some red spotting too, so rang delivery to check if that was normal and she said it was probably changes happening to the neck of the womb, in her words, "could well be the start of something". But.... still no baby! Baby was probably just headbutting me a bit too hard!

HJBeans · 29/02/2016 09:15

No progress. Thought I was on to something last night - lots of pressure and tightening, baby moving around loads, and feeling quite shaky and odd. Passed in an hour though, and nothing more doing. MW visit today - might ask about a sweep.

cremedecacao · 29/02/2016 09:26

Babies are playing tricks on us!!!

Go for the sweep. It might just do it for you.

TheWordOfBagheera · 29/02/2016 09:45

Oh can I join?

I was due a long-awaited sweep today (well actually I laughed at the midwife when she booked it in 2 weeks ago and assured her that my baby will be here by then). Of course, my toddlers have just been very unwell through the night and it would be terribly unfair to drag them with me (nobody to leave them with) and expose all the new babies coming for new-baby-checks to their germs. I've cancelled the sweep, sigh.

I've spent 3 weeks getting my hopes up at every tiny twinge but am also now resigned to the fact that I'm not really having a baby at all, it's just a huge uncomfortable wriggly tummy. Going to be really embarrassing explaining to friends and family that it was all a big mistake... Grin.

fififolle · 29/02/2016 10:23

Eliza Rose was born at 4am weighing in at 9lbs. She's currently sleeping off a busy night. A double dose of prostin gel got things going, waters were broken at midnight and she followed quickly afterwards.

cremedecacao · 29/02/2016 11:15

Congratulations Fifi and Eliza!!!

HJBeans · 29/02/2016 11:55

Hooray! Congratulations Fifi and welcome Eliza. :-)

HJBeans · 29/02/2016 11:57

Welcome word and sympathy on the sick toddlers. How tough to look after the while waiting on the new baby as well. And I know just how you feel about the 'not really pregnant' feeling. Will be a big surprise at this point if I actually do go into labour as its been feeling utterly unreal for days now.

MidnightRun · 29/02/2016 14:46

Can I join? 40+3 with first, so not too overdue but 100% impatient and down in the dumps! Little baby has been teasing me since Friday with false labour. Today I just want to cry all day!

cremedecacao · 29/02/2016 21:03

Hi! False starts are the worst. At least your body is practising?

Man I hope the baby is here by Mother's Day. Never occurred to me he/she wouldn't be.

MidnightRun · 01/03/2016 15:25

I stupidly made plans to go see my mum on Mother's Day.. Forgetting that it might be my first Mother's Day! Oh well.. Won't need to get her a present if her first grand child arrives before then Wink

cremedecacao · 01/03/2016 16:29

I have a cervix question: low is what we are looking for, right? Because I just checked (gently!) and it could not be any lower! I hope this is pointing to a good sweep outcome tomorrow.

MidnightRun · 01/03/2016 17:10

Interested to hear the answer to the cervix question! I am still high, but very very soft!

cremedecacao · 01/03/2016 18:05

That's how I was at my sweep last Thursday. Has come right down since! Good sign, I think.

fififolle · 02/03/2016 09:53

I think it needs to be low, anterior and soft. Also shortening is a v good sign.

cremedecacao · 02/03/2016 13:16

I was totally wrong. Fuck knows what I was feeling.

Midwives couldn't do the sweep Sad

Induction booked for 42 weeks. They won't book me in any earlier.

MidnightRun · 02/03/2016 13:43

Creme I'm booked in for a weeks time! Midwife told me to bounce on the ball and not to stop.. Baby still needs to drop!

You hear of a lot of people going in to labour after the midwife tries to do a sweep, so fingers crossed you go tonight regardless Grin

cremedecacao · 02/03/2016 14:34

I've been moving constantly to get the baby further down! But they are saying I need to relax to let my body release the oxytocin it needs. How am I meant to relax when I am constantly thinking about encouraging the baby down and out? To me relaxing involves a lot of sitting with my feet up!

MidnightRun · 02/03/2016 14:52

what do you absolutely love doing? For me it's cooking, so I put my favourite music on very loudly, and started baking. Then I proceeded to eat that baking with a big cuppa infront of the tv. Iv spent the last few weeks getting the house ready for the baby! I'm feeling happy and relaxed!

I'm going to make something great and totally unhealthy for dinner too! Happy mummy makes happy baby right?
