Katy, not sure if this helps but my midwife told me today that if your cervix is open and they can reach your waters then an experienced consultant might jump straight to breaking them and almost definitely will if you are 3cm onwards.

I'm 1.5cm dilated and my cervix is mid position and she said there's a chance I might not have to have the gel or pessary but depends on the consultant on the day (could feel my waters when she did a sweep this morning).

Hi Lbee thanks that is useful information! Keeping my fingers crossed that maybe I'll be lucky tomorrow and won't need the pessary...! Are you booked in for induction soon?

My induction is on Thursday (I'm not overdue yet I'm being induced on due date for medical reasons so been lurking trying to find out as much info as I can re successful sweeps and inductions).

My hospital is the same as yours so once you're admitted you don't leave until you've had the baby which can potentially be a long few days of pessaries and lonely nights!

Thanks! Yes I'm dreading being stuck in the hospital...just been packing my bag, don't really know how many days worth of clothes etc to take :-/ Have downloaded few programs to watch on iPad and got a pile of magazines so hoping I can keep occupied!!

Had some dull pains in my abdomen for a while but they've eased off so going to bed to try and get some sleep and see if anything happens during the night!

Morning all, was just checking in to see if you'd had any more progress purplepineapple! Hopefully things will get moving for you soon. Thank you, I'm nervous at the moment but think I will feel better once I get to the hospital and know that it will definitely be happening today!

When are you going in Katy?

I think there's pros and cons to staying in after induction. If it all progresses quickly then I like the thought of the monitoring etc and being in the hospital. I feel less anxious if I know we're both being looked after. But if it's a long one, staying for days is not appealing esp in the wards. I hated my stay after DS was born. It felt like forever although was only 1 night. I couldn't believe how rude and disrespectful to others some of the women on my ward were! Some of the threads I've read on here describe that this is not uncommon!

I'm going to try and stay active today in the hope that something will start again.

Thanks! Got to be there at 2....so will be leaving my house in couple of hours! It's scary to think I can't come home till baby is born! Not looking forward to being on the ward but will try and relax and enjoy the chance to sit around not doing anything!! My biggest fear is still that there will be delays and I'll just be left waiting around!

Keeping active is good idea, hopefully will get things moving for you!

Midwife appointment this morning - another failed attempt at a sweep, but induction booked for tomorrow so hopefully baby will arrive over the weekend! Don't know what to expect - it might all be tomorrow, or might take days... Still, by the time the weekend's over there should be a baby here. I'm starting to lose sight of this - it's all become so focused on pregnancy and labour that the baby feels like a different world!

I'm up worrying about the day ahead! Have Jd a little by of blood since midwife - maybe a little bit of my plug too, not sure. Think she disturbed things yesterday which would have been great a week ago or so. Felt very achey yesterday but calms down overnight so up in an hour to get ready to go into hospital...

Baby was born last night at 11.30 weighing 8lb12oz!

The pessary sent my uterus into hyper contractions and had to be removed, the birth was all then very fast and dramatic! I was very glad that I wasn't sent home with the pessary!

Am exhausted but happy and relieved.

I called at 7 and again at 8 but they were too busy. Was just napping after a terrible night's sleep and they called me to say to come in... Need to wake up, pull myself together and head off! Eek!

No chance of this happening quickly - was due in at 8 but asked to arrive at 11. So far I've got compression socks on and it's gone 2.30... No sign of any midwife on the ward for an hour now...

Thanks for the good wishes. No news yet. After waiting round all day at the hospital I had the propess put in at half six then finally got agreement to leave at ten o'clock. Contractions have started but aren't established or regular yet so getting some sleep and seeing what the morning brings. Either I'll be going back in labour or back after 24hrs to repeat the propess...
