Congratulations on the new arrivals everyone! Flowers

I have a sweep booked for this morning - nervous!

KatyK1980 · 15/02/2016 07:56

41+3 today! No sign of anything happening, in fact less pains than last week! so induction Wednesday looking likely...

Handbag when are you booked in for your induction?

PurplePineapple good luck with the sweep, hope it goes OK, definitely worth a try!

HandbagFan · 15/02/2016 13:19

Hi katy - induction booked for Thursday at 41+5. Not looking forward to it all but I want to meet this baby!

KatyK1980 · 15/02/2016 13:39

handbag know what you mean, I just want to see my baby now! Maybe we can hold hands over next couple of days in the lead up to induction! My biggest fear at the moment is actually that the hospital might be too busy and might postpone the induction, I want to just get it done ASAP!

KatyK1980 · 15/02/2016 13:42

PurplePineapple did the midwife manage to do the sweep OK?

HandbagFan · 15/02/2016 14:30

Yeah - they seemed fine when the midwife called to book it last week, but you never know what the day itself is going to be like! I have to go in for 8am, meaning leaving here about 7am, but have been advised to call them first to check they have space for me before I arrive.

Holding on to the fact that they monitor you, put in the propess, more monitoring and if everything is ok you go home for 24 hours. I really don't want to spend days on the ward so hoping the pessary is enough to kick things off - I'm not early after all! - and then go back in to have him...

purplepineapples · 15/02/2016 15:03

Sweep not done yet... Appt was at 10 but my blood pressure was high so was sent to the hospital - been here over 4 hours getting a load of tests. Everything seems to be fine though, just waiting to speak to the registrar about next steps.

KatyK1980 · 15/02/2016 16:08

handbag you're lucky, I've been told once the pessary is in I have to stay at the hospital till baby is born...and as I'm not going in till 2pm I get the feeling my husband will be sent home and it will be a night on the ward on my own!!

purplepineapple hope all is OK!

HandbagFan · 15/02/2016 17:47

purplepineapples - hope everything is ok. At my appt last week I managed a 160/100 but out that down to spending the morning watching you tube videos about sweeps! Got myself quite worked up. And then she couldn't do the bloody thing anyway...

katy - that really sucks. I just want to minimise my time in hospital. I'd much rather be miserable at home than there. Hoping things just kick off. Can't imagine spontaneous labour now after so long with nothing happening. Just waiting for Thursday to come. So glad I'm not going to wait around half the day lie, they're making you do! You'll be so anxious by the time you go in!

KatyK1980 · 15/02/2016 17:55

I can't imagine spontaneous labor now either, just feels like the induction is inevitable! I wish I was going in earlier, will spend the morning cleaning the house probably to distract myself! Am stocking up on magazines for my boring wait in hospital!

NotSpeaking · 15/02/2016 19:32

So rang ward this morning and no space for induction. Back tomorrow morning at 7;30am! Told them I'll be 42 weeks so guess I'll be on priority list to get things moving. My mucus plug has been coming away since Thursday, that's 5 days!!! Anyone else had it take so long before.

KatyK1980 · 15/02/2016 19:44

Oh NotSpeaking that must be so frustrating! Flowers
Hope they get you in tomorrow OK x

purplepineapples · 15/02/2016 19:53

Finally got home 5 hours later! I'm so tired. The care I received was great but the hanging about was unreal! All the tests came back fine so high blood pressure was put down to anxiety pretty much. I burst into tears at my midwife appt Blush

Got the sweep done and another booked for Friday morning before induction next Monday. I was told that my cervix was favourable and that it's likely I'd only need 1 tablet to get things going if induction is needed. Will see though! Was advised to get the baby out the way it went in Hmm Yeah, because I really fancy that after all the poking and prodding earlier on!

I'm delighted that DP discovered today that there's a WiFi connection so we'll be watching netflix if I'm in for induction! Like you KatyK we stay in where I am and don't leave until the baby's born.

Hope everyone else is doing okay and good luck tomorrow NotSpeaking

KatyK1980 · 16/02/2016 11:35

purplepineapple did you feel any affects from the sweep?

NotSpeaking I hope you've got in for induction OK today!

Still can't quite believe I'm 41+4 with no sign of baby!! Think I will spend the day preparing for going into hospital tomorrow. Nerves are building up now that it's definitely looking like the induction will be needed!!

Hope everyone else doing OK x

babybat · 16/02/2016 11:59

41 + 1 today, the MW attempted a sweep yesterday but couldn't do it as apparently my cervix was 'tense' - although it's not exactly a muscle most of us can relax on command Hmm. Bishop's score of 2, so I'm not hopeful I'll be going into spontaneous labour any time soon.

MW has booked a growth scan and monitoring for friday when I'll be 41 + 4 but I'm planning to try and get the induction postponed until 42 + 3 unless the monitoring shows up something serious, as I really don't want to be induced. In the meantime, I'm prepared to try pretty much anything to get this baby out before then!

purplepineapples · 16/02/2016 12:20

Well seemingly twerking is the new thing for it babybat Wink

Don't feel any different after the sweep, apart from the after effects of the actual sweep itself! Not sure I'm convinced about the success rate of them. Unsure whether to get another one on Friday but like the idea of getting the baby checked out again.

I didn't sleep well last night so going to go to bed for a bit and see if I feel better after that. I'm finding being overdue really difficult and emotionally draining. It's not as though I haven't heard of anyone else being overdue and everything has always been fine with them. As DS was early I just can't help thinking what is wrong this time?? Totally irrational thinking I'm sure.

KatyK1980 · 16/02/2016 12:38

That's exactly what I keep thinking, purplepineapple. I feel like there is something wrong with me that's stopping labour from starting! My daughter was only 3 days late. It's very frustrating and definitely emotionally draining so I know exactly what you're going through! You could always see the MW Friday and get baby checked but not have the sweep if you're not keen?

babybat is this your first baby?

NotSpeaking · 16/02/2016 13:05

Thanks ladies. Went in this morning for monitoring and I'm 2cm dilated. They are going to break my waters later, sent me home until a bed becomes free.
Such a waiting game lol

KatyK1980 · 16/02/2016 13:43

How exciting NotSpeaking ! Did they give you the pessary or do they not do that if you're already dilated?

HandbagFan · 16/02/2016 13:59

Think the pessary is to dial ate you, so no need if you're already part way there! Congrats not speaking, you're on your way!

41+3 today and still nothing happening...

KatyK1980 · 16/02/2016 14:03

Ah I see...I feel so clueless about this induction process, it's all becoming muddled in my head! Lol.

babybat · 16/02/2016 14:24

Katy yes, first baby. I think I'd convinced myself that the baby would be early, so I'm finding this quite difficult.

purple pineapple I completely understand how you feel - it's hard not to feel like you're responsible for the baby being late! Plus feeling very fed up with being pregnant!

HandbagFan · 16/02/2016 14:49

katy - Whole I wouldn't recommend the obsessive googling that I've been doing for the past couple of weeks, it might be an idea to read rough an overview so you know what to expect and in what order. I want to know what I'm consenting to and to to expect. I think the following site it quite useful as an overview - this is part one and there are three that cover the three typical stages. bornonline.com.au/induction-of-labour-part-one-by-midwife-zoe/ It's Australian but they seem to follow the same process as here.

HandbagFan · 16/02/2016 14:50

Blimming autocorrect...

KatyK1980 · 16/02/2016 15:04

Thanks Handbag I've been reading the NHS info I was given and then slightly confused myself with some google info, lol, I think stress and sleep deprivation is melting my brain! I will take a look at that link thanks.
