Maisiedotes - I am soooooooo with you on everything you've just wrote .. Confused
I think my OH wonders why he comes home from work some days just lately Blush .. He was rooting through the kitchen drawer earlier and because I had just wiped the surface over I went into a rage and got hold of all the things he had pulled out and started ramming it all back in, nearly crying I was so angry .. Afterwards I was even a bit embarrassed by the way I had reacted Blush Thanks

Hey everyone. So I guess I'm joining your club now :( this is my third and can't believe I'm overdue!! 1st was induced and 2nd was 2 days after due date. No signs of baby. Tearing my hair out. I went shopping and eyed up a bottle of caster oil.... Didn't buy it but was on the brink. I'm a desperate woman

SchnitzelvonKrumm12 · 03/02/2016 10:46

Can I join please ladies Smile
40+4 - 2nd baby after first was born at 32+4. So grateful to have got this far after the trauma of premature labour but it's so hard to stay positive when I'm so impatient!!
I had a sweep yesterday at consultants request. Bishop score was 7 - what does this mean?! I'm also 2-3cm and midwife could feel babies head and bulging membranes. I'm trying not to get my hopes up but please tell me it's going to be soon?! Booked for induction on 11th.

2ManySweets · 03/02/2016 12:39

Hello schnitzel, I'm 40+5 today and still hanging round this thread like a bad fart Grin

Re: bishops score - I was reading about this yesterday here's the wiki link:
en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bishop_score

Read the bit on "interpretation" - sounds like a score of 7 is actually quite good and if you end up getting induced it should rattle along quite nicely!

NotSpeaking · 03/02/2016 12:49

Surely if you've gone into labour normally once your body will do it again?

glitterbomb80 · 03/02/2016 16:53

Ugh, 40+3 here. Had a sweep (my third!) today and everything is looking decidedly unpromising up there. I've resigned myself to being pregnant forever (or, more likely, having an induction/horrible delivery, as the baby is already huge).

Sunflower2016 · 03/02/2016 17:04

40+8 and still here Sad ..
Totally had enough .. Midwife wouldn't even attempt a sweep yesterday due to head not being fully engaged Hmm and didn't even see whether anything was happening with all these aches and pains I have ..
I feel like I'm going to be pregnant forever! Thanks

SchnitzelvonKrumm12 · 03/02/2016 17:51

Thanks for the link 2Many. Not too bad then! I'm hoping I will go naturally and there'll be no need for induction. I had tocolytics to stop preterm labour and steroids, at 32 weeks again, this time around. They've obviously worked - hoping that there's no evidence to suggest that they then stop you going naturally. I'm sure it's purely my pessimistic state of mind and that there is absolutely no science to my thought processes! Blush
I also feel like I'm going to be pregnant forever sunflowerFlowers Do you have a date for induction?

oneconfusedchick · 03/02/2016 18:25

Hi Sunflower - due date buddy! I am still here too! I did have a sweep yesterday, usual aches and some bloody discharge but nothing overnight or today and the discharge has eased off. I am pretty sure I was not engaged with my first and still had sweeps, it seems that every midwife / hospital does things differently but I would not have seen why they couldn't try a sweep even though baby not engaged. I am 1-2 cm still and cervix soft. I am booked in Monday so hopefully will get to meet baby then! These last few weeks have dragged soooo much. I am forever symptom spotting with every twinge!! X

2ManySweets · 03/02/2016 18:44

Does anyone know or have any experience of the consequences of sweeps not working plus a low Bishops Score?

First sweep due end of this week (41w)

Induction date pencilled in for 10 Feb (41+5)

If Bishops Score is < 5 or cervix is unfavourable/head not engaged etc tempted to put foot down for a CS.

Basically, I'm shitting it about getting induced on Weds if cervix is basically still unfavourable, ending up in labour for 100 hrs (like one of my NCT crew) and winding up with a CS anyway.

FML.

2ManySweets · 03/02/2016 18:45

Should also mention that I don't want to go over 42+2 (the only reason the +2 is added as its a Valentine's Day - yes I am a ridiculous person)

Sunflower2016 · 03/02/2016 18:47

Schnitzel / Booked in for Monday Thanks .. *
Oneconfusedchick* ! What time on Monday are you booked in for? I'm also booked in for Monday Thanks
I thought you may have gone into labour after your sweep as you had gone quiet Thanks
My midwife made out like it wasn't practise to do a sweep with a baby that's not fully locked and loaded - but with my previous he was never engaged at all and they still tried it Hmm so that doesn't add up .. I was obviously palmed off .. Xx
BrewChocolate for all those still waiting Thanks xx

Sunflower2016 · 03/02/2016 18:54

2many - I have been induced with both previous pregnancies and both times my cervix and anything to do with it up there was no where near ready ..
With my first it took one pessary and contractions pretty much started from the get go .. Second no pessaries or amount of sweeps worked so had my waters broke/ drip and once on that labour went very quickly into full swing .. Unfortunately second time around hospital were extremely busy / understaffed and it fell over bank holiday so was induced over 4 days but had they put me on drip sooner I would have been in labour a lot sooner Thanks x

oneconfusedchick · 03/02/2016 20:15

sunflower I'm still very much here I am afraid. I get excited at every niggle!! Well I have to phone the labour ward at 9am and go from there. The midwife doing my sweep yesterday said it was unlikely they would put me off more than a few hours. I hope so!

2Many - I was induced with my first at 40+11. All in all it was about 48 hours. I don't think you will need to go for c section straight away but obviously your choice. I had two pesseries which did hardly anything but on the second day they managed to break my waters. It then went on the drip and had son within 10 hours so that was the length of actual labour. I had an epidural with the drip so had a pain free labour. I am not recommending this as it made it hard to push and I think that contributed to why I had a ventouse and epiostomy. However... The labour was not that bad prob because of the epidural and baby arrived healthy without need for c section

oneconfusedchick · 03/02/2016 20:15

2Many what I also meant to say is that I was not dilated or effaced etc before the start of my induction

2ManySweets · 03/02/2016 20:18

sunflower thank you for getting back to me with your induction stories Flowers

My local hospital has been pretty overloaded of late and the other NCT inductions have pretty much been 4 days - a figure that I'm hearing a lot 👀

I'm going to focus on the induction story of your first child!!
