Is Jude quite a common name ?

We are thinking along the lines of Jude for a boy and Casey/Kacey for a girl.

We named DD Evie and when she was born we knew of no other Evie's at all, now I know tons and read somewhere that Evie was the 2nd most popular girls name last year.
Although i still love the name, I wanted something that is going to stay a bit more original this time round.

Do you all know loads of Jude's and Casey/Kacey's ?

[pruni, just possibly, his mum is a yoga teacher?]

How about Catherine for a girl and you can call her Casey? That way she gets a decent name too

Jude's lovely. I really like it a lot.

Or Caroline-Casey is also short for Caroline.

My name is Jude! So naturally I associate the name with being female. Jude Law has always seemed like a man with a female name to me. He also seems to have given rise to the recent yuppy trend of naming boys Jude.

Only came across Jude once and that was the baby that was born at the same time as ds, almost 5 years ago next month. The mum told me a lovely story about why they had chosen the name- something about a guardian angel I think.

I teach around 80 preschoolers and haven't come across a Jude.

Casey common as anything though for a boy not a girl. Kacey would just drive you mad having to spell it all the time to people.

I love Jude for a boy - it's on our short list.

Not so kean on Casey (sorry) Think we are going with Kristie we have a girl.

Greensleeves · 29/10/2006 12:23

I have only ever known one Jude and he is a beautiful little boy

I like the name a lot, for a boy or a girl.

From Bounty

Your name, Jude, is in position number 232 in our 2006 list.

Last year it was in position number 170

Your name has dropped 62 places since last year

Does anyone know how you can find out how many kids have a particular name, rather than number on a list? The nameVoyager is great but it's American, so doesn't really help.

tallulah · 29/10/2006 12:26

Your name, Casey, is in position number 192 in our 2006 list.

Last year it was in position number 240

Your name have moved up 48 places since last year.

LOVE the name Jude, it was top on our list if we had a boy (we had a girl).

My dh's middle name is Jude. When he was a lad (he's in his forties now) he says he hated his middle name, mainly because folk associated it with Judas and also because it's fairly unusual. Now, probably because of Jude Law, it' become fashionable.

We also like it for sentimental reasons - my mum was critically ill 4 years ago. I am not particularly religious, but I prayed to St Jude, the patron saint of lost and desperate cases. Against all the odds my mum survived. I like to think St Jude intervened for us, his prayer card is always in my handbag, wouldn't be without it
