Is Jude quite a common name ?

We are thinking along the lines of Jude for a boy and Casey/Kacey for a girl.

We named DD Evie and when she was born we knew of no other Evie's at all, now I know tons and read somewhere that Evie was the 2nd most popular girls name last year.
Although i still love the name, I wanted something that is going to stay a bit more original this time round.

Do you all know loads of Jude's and Casey/Kacey's ?

yes in one way although I'd love another girl this tiem, I am thinking a boy would preserve our relationship we agree on one boys name. but no girls names

bakedpotato · 27/09/2006 15:11

I don't know any Judes. There must be a fair few though bcs of Jude Law. It's way cool though.
Don't like/know of any Caseys. (Doesn't Ben Affleck have a bro called Casey?)

FoghornLeghorn · 27/09/2006 15:13

He does baked potato yeh - DH thinks spell with a K, I think spell with a C.

Everyone we mentioned Jude to so far has started a rendition of Hey Jude ! Not sure I could make the poor thing cope with that all of his life

Jude is often considered by Christians to be unlucky because of the confusion between teh names Jude/Judas - so because he wasn't prayed to that often, St Jude became the patron saint of lost causes (I know a man who's called Jude but known as Jay, whose mother fell off a motorbike when she was pg and prayed to St Jude for his safety). tbh I would be put off by Jude Law..

what about Cassie?

FoghornLeghorn · 27/09/2006 15:14

It has taken us weeks to agree on these Piffle - can you believe DH seriously wanted to call a boy Kiedes as in Anthony from Red Hot Chilli Peppers

CountessDracula · 27/09/2006 15:15

Jude was the 93rd most popular name in 2004

IdrisTheDragon · 27/09/2006 15:15

I know a Jude who is 3.

CountessDracula · 27/09/2006 15:15

(for a boy)

FoghornLeghorn · 27/09/2006 15:15

There is a Cassie we don't particularly like, stupid how one person can put you off a name.
The Jude Law thing does put me off but I really like the name, plus it's DH's fave and I don't think I can budge him on it now.

alittlebitshy · 27/09/2006 15:16

We know a Jude who is 1 ish (boy) and a Jude who is 6 ish (a girl).

love the name but can't get straight in my head which gender it is for!!

bundle · 27/09/2006 15:17

foghorn, I think mid-labour you can call the shots wrt names (whilst holding his b**cks)

FoghornLeghorn · 27/09/2006 15:20

That might work Bundle .

God all the names we quite liked are in the 100 most popular list for that sex and there was me thinking they were quite original.

I have got such a boring name and had loads of others with the same name, want LO's to have something a bit different, but not way off whacky!

Bundle I love Jude the Obscure, think that's why I like the name.

CountessDracula · 27/09/2006 15:21

I think foghornleghorn is a great name! Only shared by a breed of chicken (but I guess there are a lot of them) ;)

Personally I think you are better off going for something classic but not really common.

cardy · 27/09/2006 15:24

I know of two Judes

bundle · 27/09/2006 15:24

tatties, I prefer Tess (ooh - that's a nice name )

PMSL CD . We have Cod to thank for my lovely name.

Classic but not really common - would Jude or Casey fall into that category then ?
