Name ideas - something like LOLA

love the name Lola, but although DP is also a big fan, he is refusing to consider it as a serious contender due to 'Charlie and Lola' and the expected increase in Lolas.

Anyone got any good names that are a bit like Lola or have the same 'feel'. KWIM?

how about Lilia? has similar sound and feel. Not sure should care about syllables in middle names, let's face it middle names are rarely used anyway - or is that just my family?!?!

GreenLumpyTonsils · 27/09/2006 17:10

I like Laura too, although it's a bit overused.

Creena · 27/09/2006 17:11

Thanks, Mrs A and Lockets - I will stop looking at DH like this when he comes up with this argument now!

A bit off track here - but whatever happened to Karen's, Nicola's, Deborah's, Jacqueline's etc ??

School was full of them in my day !!

Never hear anyone say " Ok Nicola - off the swing it's time to go home now" do you - unless of course they are middle aged mum's having a crafty playtime !!

I have one of these "Ruby" type names, that were only heard in grandmas when I was a kid

and now it is HUGELY popular. There are in fact at least 3 posters using some variant of my real name.

Which is well weird.

Chandra · 27/09/2006 17:26

Erm... Do you know that Lola is a diminutive of "Dolores" which means "pains"?

anniediv · 27/09/2006 17:27

But Lola means 'strong woman'

yeahinaminute · 27/09/2006 17:27

But there are an awful lot of my grandma's names out there !!

Probably have to wait another 50 years for Karen, Nicola, Debbie etc to come back in to vogue !!

CountessDracula · 27/09/2006 17:27

my dog is called Ruby

yeahinaminute · 27/09/2006 17:30

Oops x posted with you Fillyjonk

No - one seems to have my name - I was always the kid that never had a mug with her name on !! and I've done the same to DD now - destined for a life without a "name" mug !!

Spatz · 27/09/2006 17:30

Dd has a girl in her class called
Coco

CountessDracula · 27/09/2006 17:32

I know two Cocos (one is a boy fgs)
And two Calypsos

anniediv · 27/09/2006 17:35

Isn't Courtney Cox's daughter called Coco? A boy called Coco just makes me think 'Coco the Clown'.

Chandra · 27/09/2006 17:37

Strong pains if any, Annidiv, at least in the Spanish version of the name

anniediv · 27/09/2006 17:41

Ha ha, that'd be right Chandra!

FillyjonktheBananaEater · 27/09/2006 18:49
