I think you are exceptional in having a car which is never used except with a baby in it..

Bozza · 28/06/2006 12:57

Well we will have to agree to disagree shhh because personally I think yuk about baby on board signs and they are just as often in a car without a child as with.

beckybrastraps · 28/06/2006 12:58

Really? you won't use your car unless you're with your daughter? Why?

And sunshades keep the sun from shining in the children's faces. I don't like them either, but they have a practical purpose!

Bozza · 28/06/2006 12:59

Yes it does seem unusual to have a car designated for a child. We have two cars, two children and both are used with and without children on at least 3 days of the week (when I am working because we share childcare runs).

Thanks. I am a sahm so dd is with me 24/7 and noone other me or dh looks after her.(unless we go out for an evening meal etc, in which case dd is in bed)

If I go out a weekends for nails or hair then dh has my car in case he needs to go out with dd as only my car has a baby seat fitted. Also if we do go out at night and leave dd with grandparents then we take dh's car as "my" car is a mpv and like a bus.!

beckybrastraps · 28/06/2006 13:03

An MPV with a baby on board sticker...

I will bow out now...

iPodthereforiPoor · 28/06/2006 13:04

Perhaps they would work better if it was an accepted practice that if there was someone vulnerable in the car their "XXX-on board" sign was up, and taken down if they leave the car. Its not that big a deal to do it.

Misdee - will you have a "vulnerable person" type sticker for when DH is in the car, just in case?

shhhh · 28/06/2006 13:04

btw I don't have sunblinds as the windows are tinted.

BUT we all have diferent views and are entitled our own view

iPodthereforiPoor · 28/06/2006 13:06

Not on mumsnet were not!

bubblez · 28/06/2006 13:06

Do you know what makes me laugh reading back this thread is that SophieB (the lady who made the orig post(remember her?!?)) only asked
"does anyone know where i can get one?"
not
"do you think that they are worth it?" or "why don't you give me your own personal views on them?" and so far the only person who actually answered her question was biglips.

iPodthereforiPoor · 28/06/2006 13:07

Iheartenid started it!!!

Thomcat · 28/06/2006 13:08

Just have to ask. What's yuk about the car sunshades for kids?????? I've got tinted windows in the back now but before I did I wouldn't have driven mine round with out a blind. I had roller ones so they could be up or down. I don't like the Winnie the Pooh blinds and stuff like that but don't think they are all yuk, think they are a nessecity. More so than a baby on boards sign int he back window.

shhhh · 28/06/2006 13:09

thats the trouble.

zippitippitoes · 28/06/2006 13:10

I think sunblinds are really useful too..provided they aren't of the ruched knicker variety

bubblez · 28/06/2006 13:11

shhh is right we should all be entitled to our own oppinions....

and people shouldn't be made to feel anyway about having a difference of oppinion to another mnetter....

shhhh · 28/06/2006 13:11

PERSONAL choice..!!! You don't like baby signs, I don't like car shades..!! The plain ones are ok but hate the character ones etc.

Yeah maybe if I didn't have tinted windows I would buy them but I don't need to..!!

booge · 28/06/2006 13:13

LOL ruched knicker variety...or net curtains perhaps!

bubblez · 28/06/2006 13:13

lol @ ipodthereforipoor's putting the blame on iheartenid.. better hope she doesn't find out

zippitippitoes · 28/06/2006 13:14

did someone say we weren't allowed to express different opinions? I thought that was the point of mn

booge · 28/06/2006 13:17

Each to their own, my BF has a baby on board sticker on her 4 by 4......that's not to say I don't give her grief though [evil grin] (and she me!)

zippitippitoes · 28/06/2006 13:17

I might be tempted by this one scary

colditz · 28/06/2006 13:18

zippitippitoes · 28/06/2006 13:22

I'm resisting the temptation to browse further on that sight though..they probably do have a mum to be on board sign somewhere (doctored)
