I'm 38 weeks today. Just wondering if anyone else is around the same point. Starting to feel a little fed up and I could still be waiting 4 weeks for baby to arrive. I don't have any real symptoms of impending labour at the moment. I am getting quite painfull tightenings with some back ache but saw the mw on friday who said head isn't engaged yet so not expecting much soon. How is everyone else dping?

Good luck Novia!! Hope all goes well for you!!

And Twinkles too! Bring on those April bubs Grin

twinklesparkles · 03/04/2013 11:20

Yup, think its deffo gonna be today :)

Although slightly scared, does anyone know how close contractions are before pushing and towards the end?

Mine are 3-4 mins apart 20-30 seconds long. I know that's nowhere near close enough, but I'm wondering if maybe I've slept through some?

They are quite intense. Have put myself in the bath... Its not helping lol!

beanzmum · 03/04/2013 12:29

Twinkle I think they say 4 or 5 really strong, intense contractions within 10mins for a period of time is the sign of active labour. But it can vary between people, & even between labours. Have you called your hospital's labour ward to check with them?

Good luck!

Novia · 03/04/2013 12:39

I'm between 8-5 mins apart and about a minute duration. Feels like its speeding up a bit now and more painful. Hospital said to call back when they are consistently 5 mins apart and too painful to talk through. Nearly 12 hours gone already!

Jo1984uk · 03/04/2013 12:51

My waters went last night after a day of period pains and a show. Today nothing though! My bump seems tiny now.. Measured 36cm last night at 39+5.

I was told last night contractions need to be 3 mins apart and last for 1 minute. Will have to get on the ball later Smile

Good luck novia and twinkle Smile

Baby twinkles born 1:40pm at 8lbs 6oz :)

She's lovely, just been put onto the maternity ward.

Slightly embarassing labour as my waters popped when I pushed and went all over the midwives and floor!! Hahaha :) oh dear

Good luck to everyone having theirs :)

ZuleikaD · 03/04/2013 16:49

Well done twinkles! Congratulations! Don't worry, midwives have seen it all before. I've thrown up, weed, bled and pooed on them. Grin

SayCoolNowSayWhip · 03/04/2013 17:27

Well done twinkles! Congratulations!

Don't worry, I still had loads of fluid when I pushed and it went everywhere as the baby flew out! As Zuleika says they've seen it all before Grin

LuckyOwl28 · 03/04/2013 18:02

Wow lots of babies popping out left, right and centre!

Congratulations to you all!

Smile
num3onway · 03/04/2013 18:56

Baby num3 was born at 39+4 at 1.30 yday weighing 8lb6 and only 5 hours from first pain to last push!

ZuleikaD · 03/04/2013 20:18

Well done num3! I am so going to be the last one standing. 42 weeks tomorrow.

beanzmum · 03/04/2013 21:12

Congratulations twinkles and num3!! How fabulous for you! Zuleika you can't be far off. Can't believe they let you get to 42wks!

Pontouf · 04/04/2013 08:38

Blimey! Congratulations Twinkle, Novia and num3! Fantastic news!

Twinkle think we are due date buddies so you have given me hope! Come on guys, need all the gory details!

Zuleika am I right in thinking this is your last day before induction? Hope it happens for you today Smile

Still sod all going on here. Had a lot of lower back ache and twinges on Tuesday evening, was sure that was the start of it, then nothing at all yesterday, a few twinges today and an achey back. 39+5 and totally and completely fed up. Just want this baby OUT! Got a consultant appointment on Monday to discuss induction/c-section (I want a VBAC but don't want to be induced) so will see if anything happens before then.....

marshkat · 04/04/2013 15:03

Baby marsh was born 7lb11 on 30/03 i was 39+4. She is amazing, really bad labour but that's another very long story. its true what they say you defiantly can NOT prepare anyone for labour! Congrats to all the other mummies!!!

Pontouf · 04/04/2013 16:03

Aah congratulations Marshkat! Welcome to the world baby marsh Smile

MumaBex · 04/04/2013 17:33

Welcome to the world babys of Twinkle, Novia, num3 and Marshkat!!
Im now 40 plus 5, had a sweep yesterday, had a massive clump of mucus this morning (gross). Been bouncing on this ball all day, AGAIN. Come on baby!

ZuleikaD · 04/04/2013 17:41

DONE IT! Contractions kicked off at 6m intervals at 2am, phoned MWs at 4.15 when I'd convinced myself they weren't a fluke. Put the phone down and they went down to 2-3m apart. MWs arrived at 5.15 so got stuck into the gas-and-air. Which ran out after 50 minutes, unbelievably. I must have big lungs. So the remaining hour and a half of pushing was done without any relief but the duvet to grip. 8 lbs 4oz of wide-headed baby boy. Thank GOD for that. Got carted off to hospital anyway because of slightly excessive bleeding (because he was late and big and I am small) but came home after lunch. All good. 42 weeks today! So glad I pleaded for the extra time - all he needed was another 48 hours.

Good luck all those still going!

sundaesundae · 05/04/2013 09:00

My boy showed up at 16.48 on Tuesday. 8lbs9, gorgeous and the opposite of the gender we were predicted, predicted but perfect in every way.

ZuleikaD · 05/04/2013 09:18

Congratulations sundae!

Pontouf · 05/04/2013 10:06

Comgratulations Zuleika and Sundae! Am I the last woman standing? 49 weeks tomorrow and no sign. I've already been lurking on the new thread in parenting so I can keep up!

Pontouf · 05/04/2013 11:36

Oops that should be 40 weeks, not 49!! Blush

SayCoolNowSayWhip · 05/04/2013 12:05

Yay, congrats Sundae and Zuleika!

Novia · 05/04/2013 14:20

Hey guys - another to add to the list! :)

Nerea was born at 10.30pm last night after 45 hours labour. 7lbs exactly and the image of her dad! I had the lot! 20 hrs labour at home doing hypnobirthing then went to hospital. Sent home as only 2cms (worst bit of the whole experience) but returned 4 hrs later and was 4cms. Had gas and air followed by pethadine. Then got in the pool. Then BP skyrocketed so had to have an epidural. Did push her out but needed ventouse and a snip. Weirdly none of that matters now though! She's just gorgeous - so happy! Grin

SayCoolNowSayWhip · 05/04/2013 19:51

Congratulations Novia! Hope you recover well from the labour Smile

Pontouf · 05/04/2013 22:31

Congratulations Novia. I think that is one of my worst fears - staying at home, working through it and going to the hospital at the last moment when I can't bear it any more, only to be told I'm not in active labour! Urgh! Well done on the new arrival, sounds like you had quite an experience.
