I'm 38 weeks today. Just wondering if anyone else is around the same point. Starting to feel a little fed up and I could still be waiting 4 weeks for baby to arrive. I don't have any real symptoms of impending labour at the moment. I am getting quite painfull tightenings with some back ache but saw the mw on friday who said head isn't engaged yet so not expecting much soon. How is everyone else dping?

Oh thanks so much ZuleikaD, you've made me feel a lot more confident. I have been absolutely adamant all the way through the planning for this VBAC that I will not be labouring on my back and that if the monitoring that the drs wanted to do meant that I would have to then I would just go straight for an elective CS. Luckily my hospital has mobile monitoring and is very pro active mobile labour so am hoping his will be ok. All fours or leaning over something always seemed instinctively the way I would want to go anyway so that's good.

I will definitely try the tennis ball thing too. And the G&A obviously! Thanks for the advice. Have felt really low since my appointment yesterday and this has made me feel better.

Marshkat - I know exactly what you mean, seems like all my symptoms have gone and I'm suddenly sleeping better again! 39 weeks today and desperate not to go over as it'll then clash with having the in-laws over from abroad!

beanzmum · 29/03/2013 16:29

Been having painful crampy-like BH/ contractions(? [buhmm]) most of the day here ... am determined not to get my hopes up just in case nothing comes of them!!

But managed to rouse DH to take DD out for a grocery shop to stock up on things (fresh fruit & veges are always nice to have on hand!) just in case ...

how cute are the Easter smileys? I love the idea of a blushing bunny! [bublush] Not quite in the mold of Hugh Hefner ... hehe [bugrin]

Hope you're all having a lovely Good Friday!

LuckyOwl28 · 29/03/2013 16:42

marshkat

I'm exactly the same, said this morning I don't even feel pregnant any more!

The in-laws are here over the weekend so will be busy out and about with them to take my mind off things and hopefully get things moving down there!

beanzmum · 29/03/2013 16:51

marshkat, I hear you too. DD was born at 38+6, so we didn't think we were being ridiculous in thinking it was likely this one would arrive early too ... more fools us/ me, as here I am, trying not to get too excited about possible contractions at 40+6!

MIL arrives from Aus on April 10 .. for 3.5wks EEK
Induction is scheduled (should it be required) for April 4 ... meaning potentially less than a week to get ourselves in some form of family-of-four state before she arrives to 'help', particularly with DD who's now on Easter holidays from nursery until April 18 (and I've already told DH that I reserve the right to be a bossy cow if I feel the need to be .. not going too far, I hope?)

The saving grace is that if we do need the induction appointment, at least DH will be on paternity leave for a good part of the time that MIL is here.

Hi all just a quick update - it's a boy! Baby b arrived safe and well 27/3/13, ended up being delivered via c section. Will update more soon if I can

sundaesundae · 29/03/2013 18:55

Congratulations MrsB!

Pontouf · 29/03/2013 19:07

Congratulations MrsB! Fantastic news. Am trying very hard not to stick my bottom lip out in jealousy.....

LuckyOwl28 · 29/03/2013 19:28

Congratulations MrsB !

I found myself being the classic, unreasonable pregnant bitch earlier;

The in-laws want to go out for the day and said we should all go in one car. All my hospital bags and the car seat is in our car and to be quite honest I don't like the idea of being away from home and tied to them. I want to be able to break away separately if i'm tired or if I should be so lucky contractions should start.

Felt the classic pregnancy paranoia of thinking everyone was rolling their eyes behind my back at me being awkward and other half got it in the neck when they'd left for not backing me up.

I think I need to go to bed lol

LuckyOwl28 · 29/03/2013 19:38

I've just read the 'MY HUSBAND HAS GONE AWOL AND I'M 34 WEEKS PREGNANT' topic and now feel like an absolute COW for posting such a pathetic issue! Poor girl

SayCoolNowSayWhip · 29/03/2013 19:54

Congratulations MrsB!

So I've been having (I think) contractions (as opposed to BH) since about 5-ish. Lasting about 30 seconds and about 5-6 minutes apart. Went on a bit of a crazy nesting spree - washing, vacuuming etc and it seems weirdly to have calmed them down! Confused

I was getting so excited.... Fingers crossed it might progress later tonight...

LuckyOwl that doesn't sound silly - I would be exactly the same.

sundaesundae · 29/03/2013 20:11

Go Whip, Go Whip (I hates you). Honestly really hope this is it for you, please have the Whip bubba so the Sundae will make an appearance! xx

LuckyOwl28 · 29/03/2013 20:20

saycool ooo I hope this is the start of the real deal for you!!

Will look forward to updates!

eeeikk!

SayCoolNowSayWhip · 29/03/2013 20:58

I don't know.... They seem to have slowed down and become more irregular Sad

Am sitting on the gym ball and trying to bounce but the little bugger feels like he's trying to claw his way out of my cervix!

Come on Sundae, I'll race you!

sundaesundae · 29/03/2013 22:13

I'm off to search out a midwife tomorrow... maybe that will be enough to get bubba to shift?

SayCoolNowSayWhip · 30/03/2013 04:55

Well, 12 hours of contractions but not much progress Sad

Managed to get some sleep. They're getting marginally more painful so once it's light I'm going to go for a long walk and try and shake him out!

Hope you get to see a mw today Sundae.

Novia · 30/03/2013 05:19

SayCool - how frustrating! You poor thing. Really hope they start to ramp up again soon.

I'm having the worst night since I got pregnant, serves me right for saying how well I slept the last 2 nights! My hips are so painful I honestly don't think I've slept for more than a few minutes at a time - I've just been watching the hours tick by... Hmm

LuckyOwl28 · 30/03/2013 07:07

We got a memory foam mattress liner which is really soft and takes a lot of impact but even still my hips are so sore in the morning! I've been up since 5 with a splitting head but can't get back off. Not really looking forward to the day/night out with the in-laws got to be honest!
Good luck to everyone with their contractions!

SayCoolNowSayWhip · 30/03/2013 07:11

Novia poor you :( Pregnancy is bad enough without extra pain. Hope it feels better for you.

LuckyOwl hopefully your day won't be as bad as you anticipate. Maybe you can sneak a cheeky glass of wine in Grin

Contractions getting more intense - had forgotten how much the buggers hurt! Still not regular enough - between 6 and 4 minutes apart.

It's very surreal, we're all up and dressed and ready to go at 7am!

Radiator1234 · 30/03/2013 08:12

Hi ladies! I keep lurking to see who has had their babies. Well done Szeli.

Whip sounds like this is it! Sounds not dissimilar to the early stages of my labour. Even just before I got to the triage the contractions were a bit irregular. Massively painful though. I was 6 cm when they examined me. Hope you're the same! Good luck!

My baby is almost 3 weeks old now. I have mastitis! Argh. What a pain in the right boob arse.

SayCoolNowSayWhip · 30/03/2013 09:51

Oh Radiator you poor thing. Mastitis is nasty Sad Hope you get some ABs soon and feel better.

On the way to hospital now - these things are seriously Ouchy! Why am I doing this again??! Grin

DD knew something was happening today. My PILs came to pick her up from ours and she was crying and clinging to me Sad Heartbreaking.

Sending labour vibes to everyone!

Hope you don't mind if I randomly update - it's a really good distraction.

Radiator1234 · 30/03/2013 10:52

Ooh how exciting! Second labour should be much faster. Yay! Can't wait to hear the news!

Yes I went to the out of hours and got some anti bs yesterday. Bleurgh!

sundaesundae · 30/03/2013 12:10

Go Whip, Go Whip!! :)

Had a bloody good (literally!!) stretch and sweep and MW is hopeful :) I of course am not and planning myself for my Thursday induction

ZuleikaD · 30/03/2013 13:30

Well done SayCool! Good luck!

Had another sweep yesterday - cervix still uncooperative though MW was impressed with my ability to hold a conversation while she had three fingers in it Wink. DH says it's more to do with being a motormouth than my high pain threshold. Grin

sundaesundae · 30/03/2013 13:34

What does uncooperative mean? Surely if she could get three fingers in it that is really quite cooperative?
