Ready to pop and want baby OUT!!!

38 weeks today, and am really ready to have this baby! I know that realistically I could have almost another 4 weeks of feeling like this, but just want it sooner rather than later. I feel that all I am doing is cleaning the house, as I don't want to go into labour with a messy house (especially as I'm planning a home birth). DD3 arrived at 38+3, so all through this pregnancy, I've been expecting the same, or even a bit earlier, and I know that I'm putting too much pressure on myself to have the baby soon. I know that I'm being silly, and that the baby will arrive when it's ready, but each day now feels about a week long!

Ohh I could have written your post. Except I'm only 35+5 so I know that the baby needs a bit longer. But I'm hot, heavy and tired, and I don't know if I can cope with another (potentially) 6 weeks of this. I just hope it's sooner rather than later. DD was born at 40+2, so who knows? I'd like to make it to 37w so I can get into my local birth centre. But when I'd finished all the housework last week all i could think was "It'd be good if the baby came now, or else I'll just have to do this all again next week"!

Time just seems to be dragging on.. and then I feel bad for wishing away these next few weeks when I should be enjoying the last days when DD has me all to herself :(

I'm exactly the same. 38 weeks today and totally and utterly fed up and all my joints seem to be going one by one. Started with my hips and ankle and today I put out my shoulder and neck and my wrist is sore.

I had ds at 34 weeks and although it was cs so I have no idea when I would have went naturally with him, I am not used to this late stage of pregnancy. I have done everything I need to do and am spending the days light cleaning as I've already deep cleaned and organised the whole house. Even caught myself on today looking at the hall and contemplating painting it. Would normally love some time to while away hours reading but my concentration for books or even the telly is nil.

I'd had enough by 38 weeks too and convinced baby would be early, coupled with various aches & pains over the last 4weeks it's been torture. I went o/due last time - you'd have thought I'd learnt my lesson!! Good luck, fingers crossed you pop naturally soon.

You definitely win, ambi, I went to 41+2 with DD2, and narrowly avoided induction. Good luck for tomorrow!

ballroom, I've been eyeing up my paintwork for a few days, but am rapidly running out of energy. The cleaning and looking after DDs when they're not at school is exhausting.

Have eaten a shed load of pineapple today, and given myself horrible indigestion! Won't try it again.

Ah ambi, that's hard. I went 12 days over with DS1, and I was pretty by the end of it. Best of luck for tomorrow.

OP - I'm 38 weeks on Saturday, and I am WITH you. Baby started to engage at 36 weeks and my pelvis is seriously OWCH.

I've been taking raspberry leaf capsules since 36 weeks and have just started having lavender and clary sage baths. Don't know if any of it makes any difference but at least the baths are relaxing and smell gorgeous!

Forgot to say, I'm planning a home birth too, AND I flipping LOVE Moomins (I feel
a bit like a Moomin at the moment with this big bump!)

Badgerina, I haven't taken any raspberry leaf tea/capsules, but I did have a lavender and clary sage bath last night. I agree that it smells beautiful! I bought lavender, clary sage and jasmine oils for use during my labour, and have blended all three with some sweet almond oil to use as a massage oil. I've also bought an oil burner. I haven't been sleeping very well recently, but the last two nights I've sprinkled lavender oil on my pillow, and have slept like a log. I would rather be woken up by contractions though, lol! I'm going to keep on with the aromatherapy baths, in the hope that it does something!

I know how you feel, am 38 weeks today & just feel lousy. Pelvis hurts, being sick a lot & just feel like the size of a small continent.

To make things worse, a friend of mine was due 2 days before me & had her baby this morning, so now I feel grumpy & jealous too

HelsBels Yes I have the as well. Really want to be tucked up under a blanket with a newborn squishy. Come on baby!

39+4, DH's work colleague who was due the same day as me had her baby on Thursday, another friend who admittedly is a week ahead of me is in being induced, I am fucked off beyond belief about this despite preferring to have my teeth pulled without anaesthetic than be induced again.

For some reason I convinced myself this one would be early, looks like I was just kidding myself. My sympathies to you all and everything but my legs crossed that no one had too much longer to wait.

40+5 today and feeling VERY grumpy. Both my previous pregnancies went to induction and with this one I really just wanted a 'normal' labour that started on its own at home, and didn't have to be started off in the big soulless babyfactory hospital. It's looking more likely that this one will be just the same and I'm surprisingly down about it.

Can I join? I'm 38+6 and cannot wait to have this baby I'm SO ready!
I'm fed up of not being able to walk, pick things up from the floor, sleep, lift anything etc. etc.

I'm over analysing every single twinge/ache/leak. I did however have a mucous plug go today, got excited about it, then read on here that it could still be 2 weeks - ARRGGGH.

Had dc1 on 40+2 but got no idea when to expect this one.
Doing lots of optimal foetal positioning to push him south!

Badge I've been on and off this gym ball for last 3 hours it makes the BH really strong and actually quite painful when I'm on it must be doing something! Thanks for the encouragement. How's the clary sage bathing going? What is it actually supposed to do?
I've been doing this optimal positioning for about 4 nights now wonder if that's what caused the plug to go - worth a try maybe ladies?

mcyawny, sounds very promising! I have never lost my mucus plug until in labour.

I've been in a grump all day and cried at the X Factor tonight. The 'have you got any signs yet' texts have started today, I'm going to really have to bite my tongue if people start ringing!

Good tip about the lavender on pillow Moomin might try it tonight as slept really badly last night.
I too have been getting texts and calls, even from friends who are not really close friends you know, and it feels a bit of an invasion of privacy. Am probably being sensitive though!
It's bloody annoying as well!

I'm 40+6 today :( and terribly fed up and just want my baby out.. Loads of people on my due date thread have had their babies and I'm so so jealous..

Have tried everything, had a sweep on Friday morning, and have had a show on 3 separate occasions since Friday, thought contractions were starting last night but so far nothing.

Am just so sick of waiting!

I'm 40+6 today too Rachel... Gah how fed up am I, grumpy with the kids, uncomfortable, plus DH has given me some germs which mean I have a stuffed up head, sore throat and snotty nose!
Still no signs of anything happening AT ALL. Not even BH :(

Oh me too, and I've only just hit full term. Have loads of BH (usually at night, but could just be I notice them more then) and nothing ever amounts to anything. So totally ready for little lady to get her bum in gear now!

Im 37 + 3 and can't take much more.
My bump aches all the time. I can never get comfy!! Pregnancy is painful!!!

Can I join the impatient-ness too? I'm 39 weeks, highly fed up, can barely walk due to pelvic pain and feeling hot, heavy, fed up and generally whale like :( DD was induced at 40+15 and I'm so desperate to get my spontaneous labour & water delivery this time but the longer it goes on the more I'm getting a bit miserable about the chances of another induction.

What is optimum positioning? I bought an exercise ball today is it just sitting on it rather than the sofa? I've spent a lot of time on the trampoline with DD this week but other than some very minor BH & slight back ache I'm getting no indication of baby being in a hurry.

Tried all the well known stuff to hurry DD along but with no effect, anyone got any other tips?

Hi Heffalumps re. optimal foetal positioning - at my 38 week MW appt baby's head was on the brim but not engaged (although I've heard that for 2nd and subsequent babies they often only engage during labour), so she told me about this positioning which encourages baby's head and body into a good position, and once the baby's head is deep down it can help trigger labour.

So the advice is to avoid reclining/crossing legs/having knees above hips in sitting/squatting.

And to adopt positions such as sitting on a gym ball, legs spread apart and bouncing, pelvic thrust forward and backward, side to side, figure of eights on the ball. All fours and rocking pelvis side to side. Sitting upright legs apart and leaning slightly forwards. Lying on left side when sleeping.

Nothing's happening for me since the strong BHs and mucous plug yesterday, goddammit! Been really grumpy and tearful today, and now I'm reading into that thinking it could be a sign labour is imminent. I'm going crazy!

Thanks mcyawny I'll try that from now on, ball being blown up as we speak. Looking back I probably did do a lot of slobbing about on the sofa towards the end when expecting DD so with any luck this could help. At least I'll know I tried anyway!

Feeling sympathy with everyone's grumpiness, I've been irrationally moody these last few days but I suppose it's to be expected with disrupted sleep and over active hormones.

I remember saying to DH when DD was coming up to her first birthday how much I missed being pg, he said no you don't you hated it, and I totally disagreed and insisted that no, I loved it...stupid rose tinted glasses playing tricks on me again!

Nice to here you ladies being as phenomenally pissed off as i am! 41+1 today and going a bit mental with impatience. Got excited when I had to get up at 2.40am this morning with stomach pain. It was just a poo. Never been more disappointed in my life! Good luck everyone, these babies will come out eventually!

I am 36+6 and I have had enough! The thought of being pregnant for possibly another 3 weeks fills me with dread :( I am absolutely massive, can barely walk, and feel as if I am neglecting my 18mo DS as I can't play with him any more (I don't have the strength to lie on the floor and play cars or build train sets) :(
