38 weeks today, and am really ready to have this baby! I know that realistically I could have almost another 4 weeks of feeling like this, but just want it sooner rather than later. I feel that all I am doing is cleaning the house, as I don't want to go into labour with a messy house (especially as I'm planning a home birth). DD3 arrived at 38+3, so all through this pregnancy, I've been expecting the same, or even a bit earlier, and I know that I'm putting too much pressure on myself to have the baby soon. I know that I'm being silly, and that the baby will arrive when it's ready, but each day now feels about a week long!

No beds available yet so I have to wait and they will call when one comes up. Should be today though.

Update on Milk !

She's been admitted to hospital to be induced as they suspect pre-eclampsia...she's waiting for a bed on the very full labour ward then they'll start induction...but they've shut the labour ward but as she's already in the hospital she can stay :o

She has no internet (She's currently moaning about it on the phone to me Wink ) and no tv

But Mini-Milk will soon be on his way! Hurrah!

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 02/10/2012 13:27

And yes, she bemoaned the lack of internet/tv before the bemoaning of no bed

The woman has her priorities right Wink

HeffalumpsAndGoldenWoozles · 02/10/2012 17:54

lego give her our good luck vibes, hope all goes well.

funchum how are you doing, did you get a bed?

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 02/10/2012 22:15

Will do Heffa :) (that sounds shockingly rude to be calling you that :o )

Haven't heard anything since earlier so am hoping no news is good news!

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 03/10/2012 10:25

Milk is still waiting to be induced :(

If this baby is half as lazy stubborn as his mother then this could take a while Wink

HeffalumpsAndGoldenWoozles · 03/10/2012 11:54

Lol lego certainly no offence taken Grin after a 42 week pregnancy it's probably quite apt!

Hang in there milk stubborn baby or not it can't stay in there forever! Good luck hope things get moving today.

How is everyone else, how many ladies are still waiting now?

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 03/10/2012 16:04

They've started milks induction!!

Mini milk is on his way!!

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 03/10/2012 19:52

Just spoke to milk they broke her waters at 625 and are monitoring her

So its all heading in the right direction!

funchum8am · 04/10/2012 23:41

Got a bed at 1 on Tuesday and DD finally arrived just after midnight today (Thursday.) She is gorgeous and well worth the wait. Next time though I will be refusing induction - first stage was horrible, second was far better and and amazing experience! Ended up with forceps and epidural and narrowly avoided a section as my contractions were rubbish but DD is well worth it :)

Good luck to everyone still waiting to meet their beautiful little ones!

HeffalumpsAndGoldenWoozles · 04/10/2012 23:54

Congrats funchum at last! Hope you're enjoying lots of cuddles now :)

lego any update on milk? Hope she's doing ok.

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 04/10/2012 23:57

He's here! All is grand But I'll let her properly announce with weigh/time etc :o

Mikyahrose · 05/10/2012 00:00

Hey there ladies. Sorry to have taken so long in getting back on here and sharing my news.
I went into hospital Sunday night with contractions and my little boy was born 14.10 on Monday. Managed to miss being induced. All went well and we were home by 10pm Monday night.
Been a good few days and feel like we're all settling into parenthood nicely. Infact, I'm loving it!
Congratulations to everyone else who' s had thier little bundles too! x

Moominsummermadness · 05/10/2012 02:25

Just feeding DD and thought I'd check for baby news. Huge congratulations to funchum, milk and mikyahrose! Enjoy your lovely new babies.

Xx

DD is absolutely amazing...can't get over it all.

Am having the most horrendous night on the postnatal ward - the suffering some of these women are going through with no support and stuck in rooms of 4 people so no privacy, while trying to care for newborns, is horrific. I am really disgusted and will be writing to the hospital. Not a great start to parenthood for me either but at least I can go home tomorrow unlike some of the ladies stuck here for several days due to serious injuries from childbirth, or no support at home after c-sections etc :(

Happily DD is for now totally oblivious and fast asleep but I don't expect to get much sleep tonight if any!

PollyIndia · 05/10/2012 07:51

Ah congrats mikyahrose! I was wondering how you were doing

funchum8am · 05/10/2012 23:04

Congratulations milkyahrose!!

HeffalumpsAndGoldenWoozles · 05/10/2012 23:19

Congrats mikyarose and milk, two more beautiful babies here to snuggle :)

Mikyahrose · 06/10/2012 02:25

Just posted this on another thread, thought you may all like a read too.

'Was due to be induced on Monday at 40+13. But naturally went into labour Sunday night (40+12).
We arrived at the hospital at 11pm, was examined but only 1cm. Was given cocodomol and told to rest. Examined again at 4am, 2cm. Given a shot of diamorphine to help me get some rest. Was told this wasn't a pain relief but would make me very sleepy, so I could sleep between contractions. Would also make baby drowsy, but would only last 4 hours and I wasn't even in active labour yet.
Examined at 8am hoping to be at least 3cm. And was 8!! Best news ever.
Started on the gas and air then, my waters were broken at 11am, i started pushing at midday, although I wasn't quite 10cm, but the mw said to just go with the contractions. He was finally born at 14.10 after over 2 hours of 2nd stage labour. Nearly had an episiotomy, got as far as having an anaesthetic put in, but managed to push his head out in the next contraction. Official labour time was 6 hours although my times from getting to hospital to birth was 14hours. Suffered a 1st degree tear, so had a few stitches.
All in all a good labour experience. Didn't get my water birth or delayed clamping, but hey ho.

Now all tucked up in bed feeding. The first night was great and he slept lots in his crib. But since then he's decided he doesn't like it. He sleeps well, but only on me. So I find myself managing to sleep but in awkward positions around him. But he's just too cute to be annoyed by this. '

And there you have it. My labour experience. :)

HeffalumpsAndGoldenWoozles · 06/10/2012 02:43

Avoiding induction at the 11th hour mikyah that's great news so pleased for you! I love hearing people's birth stories, glad yours was reasonably quick and you managed to avoid an episiotomy too, am I right thinking that means you'll heal quicker from a natural tear?

DD is the same re sleeping but I don't think our bed is appropriate for co sleeping so as much as I really just want to cuddle up with her I'm trying to compromise and as she's in a 3 sided crib attached to our bed I've been scooting myself as close to her in there as I can. Not working tonight though as I'm still sat here holding her!

Mikyahrose · 06/10/2012 04:40

It deffo was the 11th hour. :)

I have read that you heal quicker from a natural year, so fingers crossed. So far it's not been too bad. At actually looks ok down there, been doing daily mirror checks. My perineum is still quite swollen, but isn't purle anymore. And I've figured out where my hole is now, for a few days I thought I'd lost it! Sorry that bit was way too much info, but I'm happy to share. Been a bit stingy when weeing the last few days too but think that's because we've been out and I've not drank as much as I should, so have had stronger wees.
Also - last bit of foof talk, seem to have list control of my pelvic floor a bit. And few times have been unable to make it to the toilet. Hoping this will get better?

HeffalumpsAndGoldenWoozles · 06/10/2012 08:40

"I've figured out where my hole is now"

That just made me snort my tea.

I've never dared look underneath, it feels ok and I was super lucky not to tear so I'm leaving it be.

Badgerina · 06/10/2012 09:01

Mikya I'm sure you were told this by your midwives, but you must do your pelvic floor exercises. Not only will this help with control and tone, but the increased blood flow to the area will aid healing Wink

Badgerina · 06/10/2012 09:01

p.s you are very brave to look!!! Grin

funchum8am · 07/10/2012 05:48

Milky I am having same bladder issues - one accident was only saved from being really embarrassing because of super effective maternity pad I was wearing!

I am starting back on the pelvic floor exercises today!

I had an episiotomy but haven't dared look yet....
