38 weeks today, and am really ready to have this baby! I know that realistically I could have almost another 4 weeks of feeling like this, but just want it sooner rather than later. I feel that all I am doing is cleaning the house, as I don't want to go into labour with a messy house (especially as I'm planning a home birth). DD3 arrived at 38+3, so all through this pregnancy, I've been expecting the same, or even a bit earlier, and I know that I'm putting too much pressure on myself to have the baby soon. I know that I'm being silly, and that the baby will arrive when it's ready, but each day now feels about a week long!

Good luck to the ladies who are almost there! No news here so off to see friends a nearly 2 hour drive away for lunch by the sea....if you see on the news about a lady giving birth on the A12 that will be me!

furrygoldone · 19/09/2012 06:53

Thanks, I'm still not in labour, oh well induction not ideal but last time wasn't terrible and at least I know a bit more about what to expect today.

Good luck everyone.

MrsHelsBels74 · 19/09/2012 06:56

Well I'm totally confused (possibly tmi here), woke up this morning & my pyjama trousers were wet. I'd like to think I didn't wet myself in the night but the wet patch didn't seem to be in the right position, nor did it smell as I'd expected.

did I really just admit to peeing myself online Blush

Moominsummermadness · 19/09/2012 07:33

furryandfoxy - all the best for today!

Well, I had some contractions in the night, about a minute each and 10 mins apart. Poor DH was getting excited, but they soon wore off. Sweep it is for me today then!

funchum- enjoy your lunch by the sea.
I can't believe it's finally our due date tomorrow!

Hels- hope it wasn't just wee! Grin

Well, I've had my sweep. Feel like crying though now. The midwife expected that with it being my 4th DC, I would have a stretchy, soft cervix. Instead, my cervix is really firm still, and she could only just get a fingertip in. She was really surprised, she said that I've got a cervix like a first time mother. I've had a bit of a show, and I've got a bit of pain now, but I know that it will die down. Midwife thinks labour is still a few days away, she said that I will need to have a lot more niggles and twinges to get my cervix to start doing anything before labour properly kicks in. She's booked me in for another sweep next Wednesday.

Sympathies moomin.
Sounds a pretty upsetting appointment.

Have a mw appt booked for when I'm 41 weeks if I'm still waiting (40+1 now) and will probably refuse a sweep.
With DS1 his head was so far down she stopped as said it wouldn't ever work. It was bloody painful.

Make yourself a nice Brew and have some cake or chocolate. Or chocolate cake!

MrsHelsBels74 · 19/09/2012 13:25

Sympathies Moomin. Still nothing here either. Totally fed up & in constant pain now. Have a sweep booked next week if nothing by then but I seriously think I'll go crazy if he hasn't arrived by then Angry

HeffalumpsAndGoldenWoozles · 19/09/2012 14:11

Oh dear moomin that doesn't sound like a nice appointment, hope things get moving for you soon.

I've been booked for sweeps & induction next week but have decided to give reflexology a try as a few friends have told me that if nothing else it's just really relaxing but that it has been linked to promoting natural labour. I've booked a consultation tomorrow but actually a bit nervous now!

Good luck to the ladies in for induction, it's nearly here now we'll have our babies very soon!

quitcomplaining · 19/09/2012 14:38

Had another sweep this morning at 40+5. 2cm dilated and soft anterior cervix Grin Midwife said it was a really good sweep so fingers crossed something kicks off soon! Have had a bloody show and lots of braxton hicks since.

Compared to my sweep on Friday when my cervix was hard, closed and very far back I seem to have made progress! Feeling a bit happier now.

To those of you that have had an evening of pains not amounting to anything that was me on Monday night. The midwife said today that those pains are probably what caused me to be further on today so don't loose hope!

Moominsummermadness · 19/09/2012 14:45

Thanks ladies! I feel a bit better now. As you said, quit, I will look upon any further niggles as a good thing. Hope that your sweep has an effect!

flipflopper · 19/09/2012 14:50

quitcomplaining that sounds really positive, hope it works for you.
moomin sounds dissapointing, I thought as this is number 3, my body would just know what to do by now, but it seems not!

I'm booked in for induction in the morning, will be 40+11, I had a sweep yesterday, and my cervix was exactly the same as it was last week! Also she thought the baby had changed position and has gone back to back, it was hard to hear the heartbeat, like it was far away. Im not sure if it has moved back or not, Im still getting plenty of kicks and wriggles so not too worried.

I actually feel better now I know the end is in sight, even though I didnt want to be induced, I am ready for it now. Got sick of people asking if there's any news!

Just hope it works quickly. Mw said they will prob just break my waters as i am dilated enough.
Wish me luck, thinking of you all!

HeffalumpsAndGoldenWoozles · 19/09/2012 20:13

Good luck flipflopper come back & update us if you can! Hope everything goes smoothly and you get those fantastic newborn snuggles very soon :)

MrsHelsBels74 · 20/09/2012 07:45

Albert is here! Unfortunately ended up needing an emergency C-section rather than the lovely home water birth I planned but baby is fine now after a few scary moments.

Moominsummermadness · 20/09/2012 07:49

Good luck for today, flipflopper! Hope it goes smoothly.

Happy due date to my due date buddy funchum! Hello to everyone else- lets hope these babies get a move on!

Oooh, congrats hels! Glad little albert has arrived safely, even if the birth wasn't what you'd hoped for. Enjoy him! Xx

Congrats hels and good luck flipflopper!

Still waiting Sad 6 days over now. Lost lots of plug this morning. Bleugh! No other signs apart from some lower back ache.

I now feel as though baby might as well hold on until weekend... Will make childcare for dd1 a lot easier!

FoxyRoxy · 20/09/2012 13:37

After a super quick labour after my induction (3 hours 40 mins!) Dexter arrived yesterday afternoon :) he's lush!

Congrats to Hels on the birth of Albert!

Flipflop hope you've got a baby by now!

Good luck to everyone else, I'll be looking in to check on you all!

Moominsummermadness · 20/09/2012 14:18

Congratulations foxy! What a quick labour! Thanks

Hopefully more babies will be arriving very soon!

Congratulations Hels and foxy !! Glad your little boys are here safe & well :)

We're nearly there now, who's going next?!

blondiep14 · 20/09/2012 15:30

Let's hope the rest of us start off soon Grin

funchum8am · 20/09/2012 17:39

Congratulations to mrshels and foxy!
And happy due date to you too, moomin. Nothing doing here though a bit of a moment where I thought waters might be trickling out but it was just ahem, extra discharge (sorry if tmi).

Lots of pressure down below but nothing resembling contractions etc. Fingers crossed for progress in the near future everyone!

FoxyRoxy · 20/09/2012 19:29

funchum get bouncing on your ball if you have one!

moomin happy due date to you, fingers crossed something is happening for you right now!

blooblies · 20/09/2012 21:55

Hello ladies, I've been lurking for a bit on this thread as the veteran of two very overdue babies and currently 39 weeks with a third. Congratulations to those of you now holding snuggly newborns and feeling like this waiting game was an age away.

My LO is trying hard to engage but is just bashing off my pelvis at the moment. And it feels like it's moved back to back as there are an awful lot of limb movements at the front Sad. Time to use my dwindling reserves of energy to be on all fours or on the ball from now on..

Heffalumps how did your reflexology go? I am tempted to try it this time around.

missjackson · 20/09/2012 22:08

Blooblies I'm in the same boat - previous 2 DC both 12 days over, and am now 40+6 with DC3.. so really shouldn't be expecting anything different, but can't help hoping! Have been offered a sweep tomorrow so maybe that will get things going.
