A new thread for us all to share our mutual anxieties, hopes and fears.

Nickiey I'm going for unprepared pessimmisstic Queen! I am jealous of those that sail through their pregnancy without a care in the world. I find it difficult when someone tells me that they're 5 weeks pregnant to look enthusiastic etc. I'm 33 + 2 and am now the proud owner of 2 outfits. I'm still checking for blood at each loo trip. I'm still scared that going out and buying things will result in bad luck despite prideing myself on being a very scientific person iyswim. Last Friday little one didn't move. Nor did he move most of Saturday. In fact it took a chocolate muffin Sunday morning to get him off and once started he didn't stop for the entire day! So I spent most of Friday and Saturday worrying. I lost my babies at 5 and 8 weeks so am well in what most people consider to be "the clear". I don't enjoy pregnancy as I'm nervous the entire way. I put life on hold which is massive shame because 9 months (or more like 8) is a blooming long time to "hold your breath". So I completely 100% relate to what you are saying which is why I love this thread soooo much.

I worry a little that those of us so advanced in our pregnancies are making it harder for those at the early stages to use this thread. At the same time I'm hoping it gives those in first trimesters hope that it can work out etc. I'm hoping that whoever "pops" first will start a thread for us to continue. I know that whatever happens I shall continue to watch this thread for quite sometime willing those at the start good luck.

Hi everybody, and welcome to Nickiey. I know what you mean. My sister-in-law told everybody she was pregnant at 4 weeks. Luckily for her, everything was fine. I, on the other hand still haven't told anybody (apart from dh) and have no intention of doing so until my bump starts showing and I can't hide it anymore. I don't enjoy pregnancy at all because of all the worries it entails. I've reached my 12 week stage now but it hasn't made any difference to my stress levels....still check for blood every time I go to the loo. I look back on my first pregnancy which went without a hitch and I didn't appreciate what can go wrong at that time. I've been pregnant 4 times since. The first time, after ds, lost through m/c at 10 weeks. I then had my 2nd ds although pregnancy was not straightforward and had lots of scares throughout, then had another m/c before Christmas. This time, had bleeding at 7 weeks which luckily did stop. I can't relax at all - always fear the worst. I think a lot of us on here, feel like you do - it's great we've got somewhere we can talk honestly and also great to hear other people's worries as it does help to put your own into perspective. I'm sure your doppler will go a long way to helping you relax.

slinkstah · 04/04/2006 13:07

my crib was an Ebay bargain so i am chuffed:)

arabica- pmsl at your dream! and reverse csGrin

mygirl- will do as you say only internet shop, ill be on my computer even more lol

nickiey- i will not relax until baby is here although i have started to relax slightly now i made it to 28 weeks as baby has 90% survival now and im a preterm labourer. although am still worried about infection and have made the doctors take a blood test to test for a membrane infection and i constantly check pants for something wrongGrin
have to say agree with wills:)

slinkstah · 04/04/2006 13:09

oooh and granny (MIL) has just called me to tell me she has just spent £60 on baby!!Shock talk about pressure! good job i waited til 24 weeks till i told her eh!

Arabica · 04/04/2006 13:18

Wills, I agree too. I'm 23wks tomorrow and still haven't relaxed. But when I was 6 wks pg and started using this thread, I found it an enormous help to read about people who shared my anxiety, whatever their stage of pregnancy. It's the shared feelings that counted.

slinkstah · 04/04/2006 13:45

omg arabica 23 weeks already! that has gone fast:)

petunia · 04/04/2006 14:26

nickiey- I'm now 36+3 days and I'm still trying to relax about the pg.
Slinkstah- excellent news about the crib. Where would we be without internet shopping?
Arabica- know what you mean about shared feelings. I joined the due in April thread on the Antenatal board about 6 wks ago. I posted about my "tiny pile" and the trip to hospital yesterday, and nobody's posted anything about it. But yesterday here, there were lots of understanding messages for me that didn't make me feel so Blush. I don't think they mean for it to come over the way it does, I think they're all wondering over who is going to give birth next. But I think you ladies here understand the worry about going to the loo or the fear that goes through you when you get what happened to me yesterday, actually seeing blood.

Wills · 04/04/2006 14:33

Petunia I was thinking of joining the "due in May" thread but found the same as you. I seriously think I'd bring the very upbeat thread down and be seen as Mrs Doom and Gloom which I couldn't bear. Blush

slinkstah · 04/04/2006 14:46

i know what you mean, i have joined the due in june but can't say im a regular poster. i told them about my 23 week scare but did it all in a very chirpy way, when really i was sh**ing it Grin

diddle · 04/04/2006 14:54

slink - every day i have to try and remember when you're due and i was convinced you were due in June. As I am too, you never post on there Grin but i know i can always find you here, and msn of course.
So glad you've confirmed my thought of your due date.

HellKat · 04/04/2006 16:10

Hiya all.
Had the consultants' appointment and it's all good news. Swab was clear but still have to have regular 4 weekly ones, have a uti so that explains the backache & put on anti-biotics, had more bloods done (being tested for Lupus!) and got to hear little one. Lol. Knew she'd got bigger, my fundus now measures over 18wks (I'm 16+5) and when asked if I felt any movement she booted the consultant then did little somersaults that were visable Grin.

Hope everyone's well.
Slink- Wahoooooooooooooooooo you bought a crib!!! You're having baby!

GrinGrin

slinkstah · 04/04/2006 17:49

diddle fellow june buddie, yes am more of a lurker in the june threadBlush can't seem to venture away from my security blanket of this thread very often Grin

hk- glad appointment went well, what is lupus? you must be big if your measuring 3cm more than dates :)

HellKat · 04/04/2006 17:57

Hiya hun.
Lupus is an auto immune disease (according to the good ol' search engine). Sounds pretty icky too. No idea why she's testing me for it but she says she wants to run tests for anything & everything just to make sure baby is fit & healthy (and me), so it's all good.
I'm diddy lol. My bump has'nt got that much bigger since 12 wks just got firmer. Everyone's shocked to find out I'm nearly 17 wks. Babba is lying at the front aswell. Carrying totally different than before where I was just all out front with both boys. I knew she'd be a porker after that 9 wk scan where you could see a big podge lol.
Still can't wear maternity jeans (too big round the bump & waist) so living in a pair of old hipsters (1 size bigger). Got brave & weighed myself and thankfully haven't gained anything since that huge 3/4's stone gain early on Shock.

Wow typed an essay here Grin

How are you feeling hun? Can't believe you're nearly 30 wks.

cori · 04/04/2006 18:05

I also have crib, new mattress the bed is made. Have ironed all DS' baby clothes today and have put them in new baby chest bought from ebay.
I really think after 30 weeks you really start to believe it. (well no escaping it now as I am nearly 36.
I too havent really got into the Due in May thread cause, have spent so much time worrying and taking myself off to hospital for checks, when everyone is realxing and 'enjoying being pregnant'- so i will probably posting here up until the last minute.

Arabica · 04/04/2006 19:47

I'm lucky with my August threadlots of nervous ladies on it so I have 2 great places to chatbut this is where I come if I'm pressing the panic button!

slinkstah · 04/04/2006 23:02

hk- its fab they are looking after you so well:) i wasn't big either til about 22 weeks and after that it was obvious to all:)
i have weighed myself i am 10.11Shock i was around 9.3 pre pg! i was 10.7 full term with my dd 6 years ago and 10 stone full term with my ds 8 years ago. ive got to stop eating cornettos!

cori- not long now, im dead excited about the coming births on here very soon:) i am wondering who will be first you or petunia or wills :) then its diddle and me Shock

HellKat · 05/04/2006 04:00

Morning all.
Slink- I'm normally 8.5 but went to 9 (after xmas pig out lol). With ds2 i gained nearly 6 stone (was very underweight to start though) and ds2 gained the textbook 2 stone. Gained 3/4's stone really early on so hope that it's slowed right down until the final tri-mester.

Soooooooooo exciting to think we'll have births on here soon Grin

Pg insomnia hit bit today so will be a lazy cow later and retreat back to bed Wink
Have a great day all x

mrsmaddyd · 05/04/2006 08:15

Morning all i have a question.

I woke about 3 in the morning with a sneeze and it caused a viscious pain in my side that eased after 5 mins. I have had this before early on in pregnancy and i know others get it. But does any one know what it was. Ive been up more less since then desperatly trying to feel the baby move.
The pain was like a hot knife going through my right had ovary. Not that thats ever happened to me of course but its how i imagine it to be Grin

HellKat · 05/04/2006 08:24

I get this when I sneeze or cough and always seems to be when I'm lying on my side in bed. I think it's just muscle spasm. I had them with ds2 aswell. Had some nasty ones with this one too lol

I still fret over little twinges etc but not as much now I can feel it move.

HellKat · 05/04/2006 08:32

So great we're on the same due thread lol. When are due again? I'm 14th

Wills · 05/04/2006 08:36

Morning..

Last day at work! Last day at work! Last day at work. New life here I come!

Not that I'm counting the minutes or anything. Hate last days. Hate saying goodbye to people really hate it, especially as most are saying see you back soon and I'm secretly desperately hoping NOT!
