There you go, choccie digestives are healthy then! Let's eat a packet or 2! What about Jaffa cakes and Terry's Chocolate Oranges?

Thanks for that Wills. I did read through some of the old archives on nuchals and 1 particular thread was so moving - it was basically a debate about whether to have an amnio or not. Lots of people gave their thoughts both for and against and I did find it so moving to hear the thoughts of those with real experience of downs and of how positively they spoke about it. Personally, I think you learn to cope with what ever hand is dealt to you and there is a wise old saying which says "God never gives you more than what you can deal with."

Petunia, that must have given you a scare. I'm glad it turned out to be piles IYSWIM. I had piles after both my children were born - expect I'll get them again this time. Until I suffered from them I used to think it sounded like a hilarious condition.....I laugh no longer at it believe me....it's one of the most painful things ever....

SnowBoo · 03/04/2006 16:06

I'm so glad i can discuss these things on here. One mention of anything to do with womens bits/pg has my dh shuddering like a mouse!

One last thing: Does worms give you tummy ache? Or is that the piles?? I really can't remember what i have been told in the past. I am pg y'know.

Wills · 03/04/2006 16:12

Never heard of a tummy ache associate with worms but have heard of loads of tummy aches associate with pg. Hands up those who actually enjoy the whole experience of being pregnant!

slinkstah · 03/04/2006 16:22

oinker- yes i had bruises all up my thighs, will you have to take heparin until term? Have a fab holiday in canada:)

petunia- i had to laughBlush i know you must have been so worried and def did the right thing by going in, but when the dr said you got a pile i bet you almost died!
luckily ive never had em although i didn't want to say that as now i will probably get them!

Taking it easy is easier said than done especially on easter holidays- luckily kids are not toddlers:) have managed to take it easy up to now so am taking the pain today as a warning sign. Am determind to get to term

i enjoy being pg- although i can't remember normal it was too long ago

petunia · 03/04/2006 16:35

Slinkstah- I know I felt really Blush. DH was saying when we left the hospital about what was he going to tell all his work colleagues (he's back at work this afternoon) about it being a tiny pile! He's a computer programmer and I get all sorts of tales about what gets talked about!

And of course, I've got to go back to the hospital for the scan on Thursday. We should get a season ticket to the place!

SnowBoo · 03/04/2006 16:41

I find pg too much of a worry. Will be glad when he is in my arms. So i can watch him constantly and send myslef insane! Like i'm not already.

SnowBoo · 03/04/2006 16:42

See?? Can't even type properly. Meant mySELF! Grin

petunia · 03/04/2006 16:52

I enjoyed being pg with DDs but after the m/c, this one has been a constant worry. And it isn't like anything worrying has happened! I'm still having trouble relating the movements to the reality that there's a baby in there. In a way, I'm glad I'm having the scan on Thursday, it's like I need one to actually make sure there's a real baby in there.

Wills · 03/04/2006 16:55

I'm with you snowBoo.

Petunia - He wouldn't!!!! B***D. I'd die if dh did that to me. I was really ill after dd2 was born but sailed through with a smile until I discovered I'd got piles at which point I sobbed and sobbed and sobbed. Midwife thought I was mad.

nickiey · 03/04/2006 18:02

Hello, you might have seen my posts elsewhere but thought i should post here too.
Im 11 weeks today this is pregnancy number 6 following a long and varied bout of problems. My ds is 4 and thrilled that mummy has a baby under her skin.
Ive just been put on heparin jabs although there is some uncertainty on whether or not I do need them. so yeah, lovely legs right now.
Im looking into hireing a doppler and wondered if anyone on here has?

Im due at the end of october but following other pregnancy problems i will be induced at least 4 weeks early as with my ds so i guess a september baby!

slinkstah · 03/04/2006 18:36

petunia- lol as long as its not mentioned at the office xmas party eh!

your right snowboo, worry is the worst pg symptom for me.

congratulations and welcome to our club nickiey:) oinker is on heparin jabs as well so you'll be in good company. I bought a doppler from ebay and it was well worth it and even at 28 weeks i still use it from time to time if baby sleeps for longer than an hour- im neuroticBlush they range from 30-100 quid on ebay so might be better than hiring.

petunia · 03/04/2006 18:41

Blushes spared- DH told everyone it was a false alarm!

twocatsonthebed · 03/04/2006 18:49

Welcome Nickiey, and hello everyone else. I can't keep up with all of the talk of piles and worms (!) and frankly feel a bit too queasy anyway.

HK - great news about your results, and oinker have a lovely holiday.

RuthLouise - when I had my miscarriage, there was a fab nurse/counsellor at our EPU, and she said that the stats proved that you were no more likely to miscarry if you got pregnant straight away - one AF was more for their convenience. The important thing, tho, was whether you felt ready or not.

And a question. We have a new allotment. Am I allowed to dig it hard, or do I have to leave it all to dp while I mimsy around with a pack of seeds?

Wills · 03/04/2006 18:57

Hi 2cat. I was banned from heavy excercise for the first trimester by my consultant so I would err on the side of caution. I'm now allowed to dig (am just starting a new veg plot) but would pull every muscle under the sun Grin. HTH

slinkstah · 03/04/2006 20:08

arghhhhh oooohhhhhwhoooo eeeeeeek
i just bought a crib!!!

Wills · 03/04/2006 21:00

Ahhhh

Congrats Slink

Arabica · 03/04/2006 23:20

Hi everyone! No worms or piles to report. However am expanding rapidly by the second and am gagging to get back to some exercise. Luckily my bad back is much better so I'll be back in the gym later this week.
Wools, glad you've made a decision you are happy with.
Slink, that's great you've bought a crib. Shows your growing confidence.

mygirllolipop · 04/04/2006 09:06

Slink - no more RL shopping for you, only internet. TBH I don't even have a stitch but find grocery shopping exhausting and have told DH that now tehy deliver in our area I will internet shop for our groceries. I sometimes get a sharp pain "up there" it doesn't happen often though.
Oinker - enjoy your holiday, don't get arrested a thte airport for carrying hep jabs! Glad you're having more symptoms this time.
Welcome nickiey!
Told the first RL person (other than kids) that we are pg last night. My best friend. She was great about it.

diddle · 04/04/2006 09:37

nickiey - welcome and congrats, i have a doppler, it was wonderful during the early weeks, i used it every night to reassure myself that baby was still there. now i'm 30 wks and theres no mistaking the kicks i'm getting so don't use it unless i've felt less movement than normal.

slink - congrats on buying your crib, i bet you're thrilled, its all getting far too exciting.
I've just unpacked and tested my steriliser, just in case its broken, have sterilised everything in site, such fun.

Arabica · 04/04/2006 11:10

Slink, I dreamed that when we had our London meet-up, you had your baby and so did I. They were both the size of 2 year-olds, with full sets of teeth and able to talk. Mine wasn't 'ready' yet though so I had to go straight to hospital for a reverse C-section. OK, I know I am nuts.

nickiey · 04/04/2006 11:31

Hi guys,
At what point do you start to believe that you will get your baby, I think im fairly positive but hate it when anyone else says oohh youve made it to xx weeks so you are out of danger now-despite being positive and thinking that there is no real reason that this baby wont arrive safe and sound i still expect to find blood whenever i go to the loo or with each scan be told that horrific news.
There are hundreds of reasons why people loose babys, even if my doc finds one of the reasons why ive lost anyone of my babies and treat me for it there is no reason that another problem wont claim another pregnancy. Im realistic about this-so far my baby looks healthy has a strong heartbeat etc but I still expect disaster, We chose some names last night to try and make baby a person, in my mind so that if baby died i had a name ready for him/her.
I must really come across morbid to some folk, i'd love to be blindly optomistic, looking ahead to this baby and any other persons but i cant do it-Pregnancy is meant to be happy and people expect people to be happy about it be it there pregnancy or someone elses, im am over the moon about this baby but i know what can happen, My mm told me the other day that so and so was expecting-i should say "oh how fab' but instead i just mutter oh lovley and think in my head that nothings for sure and she shouldnt count her chickens-perhaps im just bitter still.
My doppler should arrive in the morning, hope that will ease me a bit!

diddle · 04/04/2006 11:38

nickiey - I allowed myself to believe it was really happening after 24 weeks. It still doesn't feel real and everytime i wash a babygro or buy something else for the baby i wonder if i'll actually need it, or if this will all go wrong again. I don't think we will be happy until our babies are in our arms, and even then there will be stuf to worry about.
you're totally normal, not morbid at all
