A new thread for us all to share our mutual anxieties, hopes and fears.

Hello everyone,

Blimey there's a lot going on today - slinkstah, hope today has been better - and Wills, hope today was OK for you and went alright. And hello Oinker - great news

dhw and mygirl - so that's three of us at much the same stage (and yes, checking the loopaper every time...). Mygirl, you're really lucky to have that kind of care - there's research which shows that you're far less likely to have another miscarriage if you feel looked after.

I am stamping my foot quite a bit here to get anything sensible, but - small drum roll - did get my early scan today, and there is a real live baby with a heartbeat. 8+4 which is exactly what it should be, and 2 weeks more than I managed last time - but I don't think it has sunk in yet.

oinker · 27/03/2006 18:42

Thanks Slink.

That helps. By LR casual approach to it I don't suppose it makes any difference. I read that only 30% of each progesterone suppositry is what's released into the system . And that's if you take 3 a day. I only took 2 a day.

I am sooooooooooo confused. Arrrggggghhhhhhhhhh

mygirllolipop · 27/03/2006 20:13

Oinker -hope you get informed at clinic 2moro.
2cats - I'm gonna stamp my feet and demand a scan! I haven't heard from the MW yet hoping she calls 2moro.
About a show, I never had one with DD's 1&2 and TMI coming up was sick of waiting for DD3 so got DH to 'sweep' me from about a week before my EDD and the day b4 my EDD I had a show, it was really bloody but Idon't know if that's a normanl show as then bled in labour the next day which they said was def not normal.
As I said b4 about BH I never knew what they were until in labour with DD3 as never experienced early labour (slept thru!) but I had BH every 15mins for 2 hours when I was 37-38wks with DD3.
Another thing was I was at a party for DD2's friend on Sat and overheard another mum who I know and talk to say she wasn't 'gonna try much longer' I always thought her DH didn't want more but it seems they are trying and unfortunately failing. I haven't told anybody other than on her that I'm pg so I'm gonna feel guilty telling her.

SnowdropsInTheSpring · 27/03/2006 21:44

I'm glad i'm not the only one with white toilet paper! Dh thinks i'm driving myself mad with all the checking....
And i didn't have a show with ds. Didn't have much come to think of it.

My latest paranoia since being told baby is big is to test my urine Blush Mil is a HCA so got me a pot of dipsticks. Came out high sugar and as i'm tired, thirsty etc she has been nagging me to call MW but i said i'll wait til next Tues when i have another scan. Don't want them to thibk i've really lost it! Shock

Hope everyone else is well,

Better go and see to dh's mad cousin, driving me mental also....!

jamiesam · 27/03/2006 22:10

Only good news since I was on last I think - especially Arabica, that's brilliant news!

Snowdrops - diamond earrings for mothers day?!?! Can your dh have a word with mine - he said that since I'd already bought myself some (cheap!) daffs last week he'd not bought me any flowers for mothers day. Instead he bought me some bacon so he could make be a bacon sandwich for breakfast. Hmmm!

Congrats to oinker - and I can't believe anyone would dare argue with advice you got from Prof Regan - isn't she a fertility goddess???

Wills, hope you're feeling better and all gone well with dh today.

Mygirl - I'm with you on the white knicker thing.

Lol at Slink with 7 +ve pg tests! I thought I was odd having one in bathroom cabinet - tbh, I'm really surprised it hasn't faded yet. Can't imagine what I've saved it for as I'm not exactly going to show it to anyone.

Cori - I had loads of bh with ds2 - even convinced one mw I was in proper labour - but don't let me stop you from phoning labour ward!

Twocats that's great news about your scan, am so pleased for you.

I'm feeling a bit nervous as am 9+2 today and was 9+4 when I had my m/c last time. Every twinge, every time I go to the loo and check the loopaper, and most stupidly, every time I sneeze (that's how it 'started' last time). Dh keeps reassuring me that my boobs are getting bigger (to be fair, only symptom he can spot except mass weight gain which he puts down to excessive eating, reasonably enough i guess) but sadly nothing will convince me until scan - which is a week on thursday and far too far away. Humph.

twocatsonthebed · 27/03/2006 22:13

Mygirl - sorry I confused you with dhw in the heat of my typing! Have done a lot of foot stamping and rather a lot of crying down the phone too (! and me an assertive professional in my normal life!). Got the dr to refer me for an early scan and appointment, but then the hospital was useless - only got a sensible result by speaking to the midwives at the hospital who sorted it all out really quickly. Hope that helps you. Still haven't been seen by my local midwives though, and have to sort out my own nuchal fold scan...arrgh.

night everyone!

SnowdropsInTheSpring · 27/03/2006 22:19

Got breakfast in bed y'day and two homemade cards which was tbh the best gift EVER!!!! And ds was so pleased that it made me really happy that i can forgo the diamonds til my b'day! Grin

Actually, has anyone else got their dh/dp to smell their knickers? TMI??? Had to to see if it was my waters....

jamiesam · 27/03/2006 22:32

PMSL snowdrops - I don't think that I knew about the different smell?!? (err, and I told hospital that my waters had broken when I was on the toilet because it felt different from a normal wee - they hadn't, I was kidding myself!).

Oh, and I did help ds's make me hand print mothers day cards on Friday which I really love! Just thought bacon sandwich from dh might be the lamest mothers day present ever!

HellKat · 28/03/2006 07:44

Morning all.
Snow-Lol at sniffing. Don't think I'll be converting dp into an undie sniffer quite yet Wink

I've been on white paper alert from day one. Still find it odd not actually bleeding after bleeding for so long with this pg.
I had a definite show with ds1 (jelly-like blob streaked with pinky blood) but did'nt have one with ds2. Also my waters went with a pop then an almighty gush with ds1, with ds2 I thought I'd turned incontinent for 2 days as it was a tiny trickle, only when I turned over in bed, coughed or sneezed. It was only when I noticed my tummy was shrinking that I figured it was my waters and sure enough was told at the hospital I was in labour.

Got my triple test later so hope everyone has a great day x

mygirllolipop · 28/03/2006 08:54

Good luck HK,
Oinker -what happened at the clinic?
Slink - I have four pg tests. I done one a day before af due (got dates mixed up) and was really faint as was not a sensitive one, so done a first response later that day. Then done the same thing a week later to see if the lines darkened (which they did) I'm quite tempted to do more.........
Jamiesam - we all know how you feel about coming up to the certain 'day' as it happened last time. Luckily for me mine was really early so I've already passed it, butwas on major knicker checking that day and didn't wanna leave the house. Even kept thinking about the time of day too. Don't worry about it (easier said than done) and give that beanie some positive thoughts.
Morning everyone else, hope you're having a great day.

slinkstah · 28/03/2006 09:10

morning fellow knicker checkers and smellers!

snowdrops-lol i don't think dp would smell my pants. he's sweamish!

i love pg tests:) i still have positive tests from my dd1 pregnancy 6 years agoShock they are with all her first baby stuff and scan pics etc. i even have the dried up umbilicle cord too! (yes maybe that was a bit ott but i couldn't bring myself to throw it away)

jamiesam- good luck for passing your milestone:)

oinker- let us know how you get on today:)

Arabica · 28/03/2006 10:53

Hi everyone. I never had a show with DS, my waters just broke. I didn't have any BH either. I've just pasted this from the babycentre website:

'When should I call my doctor or midwife?
Call if your contractions are accompanied by watery or bloody vaginal discharge. Until you reach term (37 weeks gestation), call your midwife if the contractions are accompanied by lower back pain, if you feel more than three contractions an hour, or if they're coming at regular intervals; these are signs of premature labour. If you're past 37 weeks, there's no need to call your midwife until your contractions last 60 seconds each and are five minutes apart'

spub · 28/03/2006 11:00

I had a show with dd - it was like a blob of snotty jelly with a pink tinge. Came away on the loo and looked a bit like a jellyfish floating in there!
Had to have my waters broken as I'd got to 8.5cm dilation without it happening. Talk about the floodgates opening! LOL. Was glad it didn't happen on any of my carpets!
Hope you are all well and that the significant days pass without too much anxiety and stress.

desperatehousewife · 28/03/2006 11:04

twocats and spinach - i think we are at the same/simlar stage aren't we? I'm 8+1 today.

pmsl about knicker sniffing - have never done this and plan never to do this!! ewwww! but am definatley in agreement about white bog roll and nervous every time i do a wee. Although my last experience wasn't bleeding but lack of fetal movement...so i have got months yet to get to my scary milestone....going to feel like a lifetime!

I think I saw a stats thread somewhere - anyone know where it is and I'll go and fill in my details.

thanks

slinkstah · 28/03/2006 11:38

\link{http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk?topicid=49&threadid=146285&stamp=060314145123\stats thread}

i know what you mean about having a long way til your milestone dhw:)
you should get a doppler maybe this time so you can monitor baby yourself, might make you feel more confident later on if movement is less one day.

desperatehousewife · 28/03/2006 12:43

slink - i had a doppler last time and that's how I knew there was a problem Sad. But thank god i had one as it may have been weeks otherwise before I knew.

thanks for stats thread.

desperatehousewife · 28/03/2006 12:58

Slink - sorry, didn't realise you had same experience as me. you've passed your milestone though have you?

oinker · 28/03/2006 13:33

Hiya.....

I'm back Smile
Got to the clinic and the nutty prof who had put me on the prog + HCG was the only one in. The receptionists were a bit stroppy cos i hadn't phoned in advance. I lied and told them I had no idea I was pg until this morning.Wink Anyway whilst waiting the top Prof Bennett appeared and called me in. I was realy nervous. He was fine with my decision to stop the prog. He agreed with LR. Actually he has only just come back from a conference with her in Toronto.(That's where I am going next tuesday)I told him about meeting her etc and thats why I made my decision to stop. Anyway... He explained that my blood has an 8 factor which is double what it should be. this means my blood is prone to clotting. He has put me on heparin jabs(2 a day)Sad 75mg of baby aspirin and 400miu of progesterone. I have no idea why progesterone as he said that my blood tests for this in the past 2 mths were fine. Including this months one which is good as I am pg.Smile We were in with him for nearly an 1hr asking all sorts. I bottled telling him that I had asked for a referral to St Marys. I am sure he will understand when the time comes...Or if it comes. Hopefully I won't have to go. Wink

I am still feeling nervous.
I am trying to take the Profs advice...
Don't stress, and have a good holiday.
He did say to take some warm clothes as it was -5 there last week Shock

slinkstah · 28/03/2006 13:49

excellent oinker im glad it went well, sounds like you are on the best medication anyway so fingers crossed it will work this time. i'm sure there is every chance it will work out this time:) last m/c could have been for an unknown reason last time, not the blood thing.

i was told by my midwife yesterday the LR and one of my other consultants was in toronto, my midwife was taking the pee out of LR listening to her music on the plane next to my other consultant who would be dying for a fag.
also prof bennet is the prof that did my stitch last time lol
when are you off on hols?

DHW- thats awful hun:( i got to my milestone of 23 weeks and cervix opened again, luckily drs caught it before established labour happened and stitched it, im still worried about infection and labour etc but am really pleased i have almost made it to 28 weeks:)

oinker · 28/03/2006 14:58

What a small world Slink!!! Smile

Wills · 28/03/2006 18:28

Wow! That's loads of threads!

Cori & Slink. I've really looked into BH and 4 an Hour is NOT a problem - I took this up with my gp and my midwife and my consultant. I've had more than that for weeks and weeks now. Seriously! I must go looking at some websites and post you some links but basically they all the say the same thing if you find that they're getting regular and are slightly painful then its probably a sign that you are a) tired and b) low on water so have a warm bath, relax and drink tonnes of water. I get loads most evenings but after a bath they're normally gone. The reason I looked into them is because I mistook my labour as painful bh's last time with dd2 and didn't realise I was in labour so this time round I've been neurotic about them. Given that the other day after washing my hair I found loads of hair in the bath and decided that something must be wrong with the pregnancy because I was suddenly shedding hair etc the fact that more than 4 an hour doesn't worry me etc iyswim. Grin

Glad to hear so much good news and hi to everyone.

They didn't discharge dh from hospital until 9.00 last night and then I had a 2 hour drive home. Then got home to find dd2 had a stonking temperature so spent most of the night up with her + dh kept throwing up.... Still feeling rough so presumably have a virus as antibs aren't really touching this. Back to work tomorrow although seeing my gp in the morning so will take her advice as to whether I'm being stupid. Sooooo can't wait to give up work.

Have about 5 pregnancy tests in drawer. Only keep the successful ones.

We definitely have white loo paper

Started wearing non white knickers at about 26 weeks Grin

This is like a neurotic stats list isn't it.

jmum6 · 28/03/2006 18:42

Looking for Going4Potty - about the ectopic preg? You about?

oinker · 28/03/2006 20:15

I am still bleeding from a 1pm heparin jab. It's only a prick but am getting a little worried. Have been thru three plasters and a jean skirt so far!! Shock

Wills · 28/03/2006 21:06

Blimey oinker. What does that mean?

Wills · 28/03/2006 21:07

Were all the drugs to thin your blood. Do you think they may have over thinned them or that the Heparin is affecting the site of the injection itself?
