Arabica - that is fantastic news congratulations!!!!

oinker that is super dooper news, congrats matey!!!!!! I am thrilled for you.!!!! now keep those legs crossed and feet up Grin

Wills, hope you're on the mend today, and all the best for Dh's op today.

DHW - good luck for your appointment today, hope it all goes well.

I've chased my MW about not having had any bloods since 12 weeks and she seems to think this is ok, and i might have to ahve some at around 31 weeks. very odd.

HellKat · 27/03/2006 08:31

I hated the first few weeks hun. Kept wishing just to get to 12 wks. But it's gone (and still going) so quickly. Keep occupied and it'll fly by.

Good luck today! x

slinkstah · 27/03/2006 08:43

HK- thats fab baby kicking:)

oinker- tell them you missed a few days this month, and sure enough got pg so they must have been stopping you get pg. im sure they will not tell you off.

diddle - they seem to be treating you very slackly as if you aready had a few babys!(not forgetting your angels) but you should be treated like a primigravida (first pregnancy)
nice guidelines suggest at least 10 appointments throughout pregnancy for a primi

right im off to go and get swabbed - yuk! midwife rang on friday and said come and get swabbed to see if infection has cleared up etc so off to hospital again this morning, its only 2 stops on tube but i am feeling very lazy this morning, it is pretend mothers day for me after all.

HellKat · 27/03/2006 08:51

Ewww Slink. Have fun......not lol. I got mine next week. Oh the joy!

spub · 27/03/2006 09:44

Morning all!
Oinker - Wooooo hoooo! I am soooo thrilled for you, petal.
DHW - good luck with today's appointment.
Slink - sorry you had a crap day yesterday thanks to your ex who does sound like a total w**ker.
Wools - hope your dh's op goes well and that today is a better one for you, too!
Everyone else ok?

mygirllolipop · 27/03/2006 09:47

Oh slink, pleased kids made up for it today little darlings!
Diddle - you should be having more bloods done than this, I'm sure you'll be fine though.
Oinker - good luck with GP/clinic. How u feeling today?
I'm 7 weeks today, still keep thinking I'm gonna bleed and don't wear pink/red or black knickers just so that I can tell if I am bleeding - nutter or what?

petunia · 27/03/2006 10:45

Morning all,
Snowdrops- hope you survived your MIL visit. Know how you feel, my ILs drive me up the wall!

Slinkstah and Wills- sorry to hear about your awful Mother's Day. Wills- hope today goes OK for your DH.

DHW- good luck with your appt. today.

Diddle- really think you should have more bloods taken. My midwife takes some at 28wks to check iron levels. I'm amazed at how maternity services really are being reduced. It isn't very reassuring at all.

mygirl- not wearing black or pink/red knickers, not silly at all. Done it myself and all that close inspection stuff as well when I've been to the loo!

Hope everyone else is well.

slinkstah · 27/03/2006 10:47

hiya all im back, see it doesn't take too long to go to my hospital, still im glad im home again. midwife felt baby too and said he was low and commented on how big my bum is! ive gone from not showing much to looking 9 months in 4 weeks! hopefully baby is a big un, just incase he does come early:)

wow mygirl your 7 weeks already! that has gone fast. i wore white pants too so i wouldn't miss any bleeding lol i also tidied out my bedroom yesterday and came across 7 pg tests- all positive and from this pregnancyBlush

spub · 27/03/2006 11:25

Slink - I have 4 tests from this pgGrin
Maybe we should do a poll?
How many positive tests does everyone have hidden in a drawer????

cori · 27/03/2006 13:27

I think I have about three, so too many.

Slink, did you say that if you have more 4 braxton hicks contractions you need to go to hospital. I have had that this morning, think I am OK though.

OP posts:
desperatehousewife · 27/03/2006 13:31

hi everyone - it's so weird everyone being at such different stages on this thread!

Saw consultant who reassured me that I would have a team of midwives looking after me who only look after 'difficult pregnancies' - so i will have people that understand what i've been through. They were all really lovely and I feel lots better. Just seems an eternity though - have been pregnant pretty much non stop (bar a couple of months) for nearly a year now...grrrr. Can't believe it's still another month til my 12 week scan.

Arabica · 27/03/2006 14:51

Only 2 positive tests lurking in MY drawers. I think the sickness and sore boobs kicked in so early I felt reassured and then went for an early scan.
Slinkstah, happy Mothers day!
DHW, glad they are looking after you.
Wills, good luck to your DH for the op.
Oinker, what kind of treatment were you having (apologies if I have missed an explanation).

Arabica · 27/03/2006 14:52

Oh, and I did the knicker thing too!

oinker · 27/03/2006 15:03

Went to see the GP today. she reckons I should be honest with them. She did say that I will have to insist on seeing the professor and noone else. I have to ask loads b 4 I decide on any treatment. DH has taken the day off work so we can decide together whats the best way forward.

Slink.. are you taking progesterone? I remember you saying you were going to. Did LR advise it thru her clinic?

My GP has said that the progesterone will make no difference to my pregnancy. It will just delay the inevitable m/c. If it's meant to be viable it will be. She couldn't comment on HCG jabs. She was really sweet. She's pg herself having had 4 m/c due to endometritis. She stated that she was diagnosed with the problem during a routine scan after another m/c. Has anyone here had the test for endometritis done? I haven't? You'd think they would have done one by now!!! I will ask about it tom!!

oinker · 27/03/2006 15:05

I have started on the white knickers today too. It's crazy!!!! Grin
I only have two tests lurking at the moment. But I have had up to about 8 old ones sitting at the bottom of my knicker drawer. I only have two at the moment and they're on the window sill Shock

oinker · 27/03/2006 15:09

Arabica...

I was taking progesterone from cd18 to cd28. If I got a BFN then I had to stop. BFP i wld have to carry on and go in for HCG jabs. I did it for 5 mths and nothing. I stopped this month after having been to a conference with Prof. Lesley Reagan who told me to stop as the tests done on this had proven worthless.

I know have to explain this to my Prof in the morning. Am a little nervous at how he is going to react!!

spub · 27/03/2006 15:31

Onker - is there any way your prof can contact Lesley Reagan direct and not put you in the middle of it?
I have absolutely no experience or advice to offer here but I have huge sympathy for you in making some difficult choices about treatment based on conflicting info. Best of luck with it, petal.

cori · 27/03/2006 15:38

DHW, glad to see you are going to get good care, nothing worse than having to explain to every new midwife what went wrong last time. I too have been pregnant for over a year now ( bar a couple of months) Miscarriage was at the end of April last year.

To everyone who has changed to white knickers dont forget to change non coloured toilet paper as well. You just cant check properly if it is pink or blue. Even at my late stage i am still checking, but now I am looking for a 'show' ( i dont even know what one is cause didnt have one last time) Smile

OP posts:
diddle · 27/03/2006 16:08

cori - i keep looking for a show too, wouldn't have a clue what it looks like. glad i'm not the only one, and i've got 10 1/2 wks to go Shock madness.
Only white paper in my house thank goodness.

Oinker, don't worry about the prof, this is your body and look at you, taking leslie's advice has worked.

slinkstah · 27/03/2006 16:18

cori - yes 4 or more is not good. drink a few glasses of water and lie down on left and then wait, if they continue then go in.

dhw- i know what you mean i have been pg since dec 2004!! i actually can't remember what its like not being pg.
im glad they will be looking after you well:)

oinker- LR said to me when i was 22 weeks that i prob didn't need progesterone and to come off it if i wanted i said no way because 22/23 weeks was my major milestone she said ok after that then. but then 1 week later was in for stitch operation. After the stitch i was scared of introducing infection by putting progesterone in, i stopped using them. LR said use them again if i want to, but i said no. sorry if all thats a bit confusing.
good luck with seeing your prof tommorrow let us know what they say:)

i think i have so many tests because i had no symptoms until 10 weeks, it was different to my other pg's

As for checking i too still check but for fluid, show, manky discharge indicating infection etc
ive also never had a show cori, all 3 previous pg and ive never seen a show!

petunia · 27/03/2006 16:27

People kept their pregnancy tests! It never occurred to me to do that, I thought they faded after a while. Now I feel Blush.

Cori and diddle- I had a show with DD1 (the mucous plug, sorry TMI). It looked like a clear rubber bung. With DD2, there wasn't really anything. Only a like a smear of something blood-stained on a pad when I'd got to hospital and been in labour for a few hours.

diddle · 27/03/2006 16:33

hmm was hoping i would have a definite show, just so i knew if it was for real or not. We'll ahve to see what happens. i'm sure the pain will give the game away Grin

I didn't keep any tests, don't worry, you're not the only one.

cori · 27/03/2006 16:49

mmm, Sometimes definetly 4 or more an hour. Other times I go for hours with out any. Didnt have many yesterday. Lots today. Might call the hospital in the morning, just to check. Dont think I am in labour yet Grin.

OP posts:
slinkstah · 27/03/2006 17:34

i reckon as long as they don't become regular it will be ok but call hospital if your in any doubt:)
i had alot today too and started timing them, they were about every 20 minutes but have died down now so panic over Grin
i cannot wait till im 36 weeks pg i am hoping to relax and enjoy the last few weeks with no stress about having baby early.

twocatsonthebed · 27/03/2006 18:05

Hello everyone,

Blimey there's a lot going on today - slinkstah, hope today has been better - and Wills, hope today was OK for you and went alright. And hello Oinker - great news

dhw and mygirl - so that's three of us at much the same stage (and yes, checking the loopaper every time...). Mygirl, you're really lucky to have that kind of care - there's research which shows that you're far less likely to have another miscarriage if you feel looked after.

I am stamping my foot quite a bit here to get anything sensible, but - small drum roll - did get my early scan today, and there is a real live baby with a heartbeat. 8+4 which is exactly what it should be, and 2 weeks more than I managed last time - but I don't think it has sunk in yet.
