A new thread for us all to share our mutual anxieties, hopes and fears.

OP posts:
SnowBoo · 28/03/2006 21:17

Ok, so it's only my dh that can manage a shniff?
Not cos he wants to but cos he is as paranoid as me.
Will give him credit thou, when i lost our little boy it was dh that was checking the blood to see if i'd passed placenta or baby. And he normally passes out at the sight of blood. So a big thumbs up to dh i think?

diddle · 28/03/2006 22:12

definitly snow boo - my dh would have been sick at the sight of it.

big Smile for you all, looks like you're all doing ok. i'm shattered so gonna go to bed, will type more tomorrow.

twocatsonthebed · 29/03/2006 08:52

Hello fellow toilet-paper checkers (I draw the line at knicker sniffing myself!)

Oinker - it sounds like you've found yourself with the right care at just the right time - I really hope it all goes well for you. How long do you have to take the heparin and aspirin for?

Wills, hope you're getting the chance for a bit of a rest now.

Dhw - I'm 8+6 today, so yes, very much the same.

And we didn't keep any preg tests, just took pictures of them! Is that irredeemably nerdy?!

desperatehousewife · 29/03/2006 09:08

i took a photo of my very first positive preg test when I was preg with DS 4 years ago! Haven't done same or kept tests since. This is now third preg and am being terribly louche!!

oinker · 29/03/2006 09:19

The bleeding has stopped. Smile
have injected myself two more times this morning and all is well. I think I may have scratched it a bit yesterday hence the excessive bleeding.

I have to take the heparin, tablets and progesterone for the duration of the pregnanacy. I think they stop the heparin at about 38weeks. That's just so's they can give you an epidural if they need to.

mygirllolipop · 29/03/2006 09:47

Oinker - well done on getting advice for pg and clothing in toronto! Have a great time. It's good that they've found the problem, now they might sort it for you to keep this beanie, I really hope so. You deserve to.
Wills- the next thread title (when this one's too big) should be neurotics anon except we're not anon!
Snowboo - I'm sure I could get DH to sniff but never asked. With DD1 I called my mam in thinking my waters had broken can't remember if she sniffed! Waters does smell different to discharge/pee so there's some truth in it.
Hope everyone else is OK

desperatehousewife · 29/03/2006 10:10

all this talk of gusset sniffing is quite turning my stomach!!

SnowBoo · 29/03/2006 11:29

At least i'm not getting him to taste it! LOL!!!! Shock

How is everyone on this lovely morning? The mad Dutch lady has now vacated my house so i can slob about in peace!

Wills · 29/03/2006 11:37

MyGirl - "Neurotic Pregnant woman" or "Secret toilet wipers" or "Boob bashers"

Morning all. Having given Cori and Slink advice about BH's and not worrying over them being more than 4 an hour I seriously wondered if I was in labour last night. Was having bh's every three minutes for about 2 hours. Absolutely no pain though. Am only 32 + 3 so would rather little one stayed put another 4 weeks if possible. He then proceeded to do at least 2 full 360 degree turns (well that's what if felt like) and only gave up around 1.00 this morning. Put it with the fact that I had this urge last night to clean EVERYTHING and you'll see why I was taking it reasonably seriously. I'm still ill and saw gp this morning who basically told me I was nuts for going into work so have taken today off to work from home.

Still have a sneaking feeling that I will be late with this one not early so haven't packed a bag yet and am only just now thinking about ordering new crib mattress. Maybe little one and I are playing chicken Grin to see which one gives in first.

So how is everyone else this morning?

bundle · 29/03/2006 11:44

oinker, have you been tested for antiphospholipid syndrome? a colleague of mine eventually got a diagnosis and injected heparin every day (now has 2 healthy children)

Wills · 29/03/2006 11:58

Bundle. Why can't they give them names that can be both pronounced and spelt!

slinkstah · 29/03/2006 12:55

pmsl - neurotics anon

ive been having BH since week 15, they have not been regular/painful but have been excessive, sometimes 30 a day. In my case though they were making changes to my cervix so i have to be vigilent. although its nice to know now i have the stitch i can't go into labour painlessly, i have been told the start of labour will be very painful as the cervix cannot open with the stitch in place. I have to go in though for steroids if contractions become regular, just in case its the start of something.
wills if they come regular again i suggest a epsom salt bath, it really zaps contractions:)

Arabica · 29/03/2006 12:56

Hi everyone. Can't believe it was only a week ago I had my amnio done, feels like a lifetime. Am 22 wks today. Got midwife at 26 wks and have to have another scan at 27 wks. Baby moving around. All's well!

Arabica · 29/03/2006 12:59

It's accurate though isn't it? I'm even neurotic in my sleep--dreamed I left DS alone in the house cos I had gone to a gig in Hyde Park.
Am off to a body balance exercise class. It's said to be OK if you're pg. Am really worried though--I've heard they play Celine Dion tracks and if that happens I will be sick. Grin

Wills · 29/03/2006 14:20

Slink - as long as neither I nor my daughters "suck the bath sponge" Grin

Arabica - a whole week. Does go fast just doesn't seem to be doing it whenever I look.

mygirllolipop · 29/03/2006 18:14

MW rang apparently I have an appointment at the ante-natal clinic on the 12th then see her on the 23rd (sun). woohoo

twocatsonthebed · 29/03/2006 19:19

mygirl - that's good news, at least you'll feel as though you're being looked after. I'm booked in at the hospital but haven't heard a peep from the midwives, so I'm thinking I might have to ring them up! But appointments at the weekend, that's an odd one?!

oinker · 29/03/2006 19:41

Bundle.

I have had loads of tests done.

I too was found to have clotty blood. Normal = about 4. I am a factor 8. Blood clot = 10.

One thing they have done differently this time is that they have given me double the dosage. Last time I was taking 0.2ml this time it's 0.4ml. They have done it according to weight. Hopefully this will do the trick.

I am mega nervous about all of this. Women have died on this treatment. I do try and stay positive but occassionally just end up in tears.
I just want my baby. I am looking forward to getting back from hols so I can have my scan and see my beanies heart beat.
I don't know what we will do if this doesn't work. Sad

SnowBoo · 29/03/2006 19:43

On a Sunday? Where are you? Lucky to get appts in the week!

Glad everyone is well.
I'm so happy. Feels a bit odd....And relaxed.
For now. Til i check my urine again...! Think i'm getting addicted to the dipstick thingys....

cori · 29/03/2006 20:23

Oinker, dont know your stats, Have you had many miscarriages? One of my previous midwives had the same condition as you describe. She had a lot of miscarriages, she eventually went on to have two daughters at term.

OP posts:
SnowBoo · 29/03/2006 20:37

Oinker will keep positive thoughts for you.

Wills · 29/03/2006 20:52

Likewise from here too Oinker. Fingers crossed

jamiesam · 29/03/2006 22:13

thanks, I've tried positive thoughts and am now celebrating with second bottle of alcohol free lager that I've nearly got through my milestone day. Just for now it feels like a massive weight off my shoulders. Alcohol free lager is making me feel quite giddy!

Sending you a big hug and some positive thoughts oinker.

slinkstah · 30/03/2006 01:29

wills- yes don't forget the squits lolGrin

twocats- ring them, i waited weeks and then rang and found out the referral had got lost between fax machines Confused

oinker- i know you must be so worried this time hun, we are all behind ya. you will get your baby. {{{hugs}}} how is the heparin? are you looking like a pin cushion yet? i had alot of heparin jabs after my cs with ds and was horrible.

jamiesam- congrats hunny for passing your milestone:) i swear i was drunk on alcohole
free lager at xmas Grin

I have made it to my next milestone myself i am 28 weeks today, its been almost 5 weeks since i had the stitch!!! and baby has 90% survival now. i am on top of the world that i have made it this far, i feel very lucky. i still have anxiety about all my symptoms like waters, infection and contractions- enough anxiety to stop me sleeping! but im still here so i can't complain:)

slinkstah · 30/03/2006 02:52

im still up:( if i wasn't pg i would take a sleeping pill. am putting computer away now but in know i will be awake for another hour or so and then up at 7! fecking insomnia, its driving me mad.
