A new thread for us all to share our mutual anxieties, hopes and fears.

Morning all,
Good luck Arabica with your scan today.

It's lovely and sunny here in Leicestershire. Think I might get the lawn mower out if the ground isn't too boggy. I've got DH home as well, think he's got tonsilitis.

HellKat · 22/03/2006 10:07

Gorgeous here too!
Makes a change from the grey days we had before.

mygirllolipop · 22/03/2006 10:18

Another sun icon for shrops. Been to Dr the 'form' that he filled in was my green notes and even then it was just my name and addy! He asked me to come back for that. He gave me some other notes to read thru and filled ina form for blood (which he'd done previously by electronic means but that's gone bottoms up!) and he sent a urine sample off last time too. So that's what I waited for? Anyway at least now I'm being ref'd to a MW. Oh and was actually sick this am instead of just feeling sick.
Hope everyone else is good, any news on scans?

desperatehousewife · 22/03/2006 10:22

hello everyone,

just wanted to poke my head round the door and say hi - this thread is far too busy and fast for me, so I've totally lost track of where everyone is up to and stuff, so apologies for that. (note to self - must try harder!)

I'm 7+3 today and feel v. preg (bit sicky, v. tired and bit grumpy - which is all good news!)

Seeing consultant next Monday, so need to arm myself with questions and things about the care I will receive with this pregnancy.

Really would love a normal, boring heatlhy pregnancy this time please! Fingers crossed.

good luck to everyone with scans/important dates coming up
x

desperatehousewife · 22/03/2006 15:39

ooops sorry, seemed to have killed this thread!

spub · 22/03/2006 15:43

Nah, it goes dead on here sometimes for no good reason and then goes bananas again!
Glad all progressing well so far - you so deserve this to go without a hitch. Good luch with consultant on Monday!

desperatehousewife · 22/03/2006 15:55

thanks spub!

Arabica · 22/03/2006 16:52

Hi everyone, am back from scan, have had amnio, I have another thread where I have given more detail. Thanks for all the good wishes.

cori · 22/03/2006 19:21

Arabica, have resposnded on the other thread.

DHW, this thread will never die, does go quiet everynow and then but I put that down to us all having a few paranoid free moments.

Well I am now 34 weeks. Had antenatal appointment today, consultant thought I fundus felt a bit high, so had another scan. Baby is measuring right on average, so thats good news.
I have also started to get some quite strong Braxton hicks contractions, I dont remember getting them with DS so hopefully it is a good sign for my VBAC.

OP posts:
jamiesam · 22/03/2006 21:17

Hi Cori - wow, 34 weeks that's, like, ancient! You mention braxton hicks - funnily enough I never had them with ds1 - had em c/s - but had such strong braxton hicks with ds2 I went into hospital twice, and once the mw confirmed I was definitely in labour because I was, well, labouring so much over them! Went on to have a successful vbac the following morning! You'll be fine Smile

SnowdropsInTheSpring · 22/03/2006 22:07

Gosh i'm havign Braxton Hicks most of the time! It seems even worse when i pee, i guess he just doesn't like it and so he makes them nice and painful.
Cori, what hosp are you under?

Hope everyone else is well

mygirllolipop · 23/03/2006 08:47

Morning,
DHW - I for one wish you a boring healthy pg!
Cori - I had had BH with all my pg's but never realised. I know that sounds stupid but with DD1&2 I woke up already in labour so it was only when I had DD3 that I realised it wasn't the baby sticking her bum out, but BH, and the start of labour! I'll know for this time!
Hope everyone is fine, and congrats arabica on a scan gone well.

cori · 23/03/2006 10:00

Sometimes the BH are quite strong. I am not convinced I would recognise a proper contractions. I had an epidural last time so am not sure, the only thing I have to go buy is when I was induced after miscarriage and I think thats quite different as I was 17 weeks. Part of the reason I am really hoping for VBAC, is that I dont want my only memory of 'giving birth' to be that time.

Snowdrops,I am Hillingdon hospital.

petunia · 23/03/2006 12:39

Afternoon all,
Arabica (or anyone else!) I can't find your other thread about your scan. Could you tell me where it is/what it's called?

I've had BH as well. Last Wednesday, I was getting so many that I got my hospital bag ready!

I'm 35wks tomorrow. Fingers crossed nothing happens in the next 2wks, my Mum and Dad are off to Cyprus today and I need them to look after DDs! Otherwise, I'll be toddling off to hospital by myself!

slinkstah · 23/03/2006 13:28

hi everyone,

thinking about you arabica, time must be going very slowly for you this week awaiting amnio results. sending {{{hugs}}}

it is difficult telling BH and early real ones apart, i can't and ive done it 3 times!

petunia- keep ya legs crossed for a fortnight!

i have just wrote my birth plan, a bit early i know but it made me feel better about it:)
i also have become a paranoid and crazy! i am now tasting a funny taste, the same taste i had when i was in labour last time, i thought it was the antibiotics giving me the taste last time but now i am convinced it was the infection giving me the taste. So now i think i have chorioamnionitis (membrane infection) again. The drs already think im a mad hypercondriacBlush so will suffer in silence and pray it is all my imagination.

good news however is that im 27 weeks today :)

SnowdropsInTheSpring · 23/03/2006 14:12

Well done SLink on 27 weeks. Can't wait to get to 24....Just over three weeks to go!
ANd i actually sat up last night writing my birth plan as i couldn't sleep! Shattered as well....

HELP!

HellKat · 23/03/2006 17:16

Hiya all.
How's everyone?
Slink- Hunny tell your dr. You know your body better than anyone else. Far better to get tested and find you infection free than go into labour. Can't believe you're 27 weeks!!! Wow hun congrats!
Arabica- (((((((((((((hugs)))))))))) what a time of it you're having hun. Thinking of you and sending you huge positive vibes xx

Had my mw today. Nowt much to report. Heartbeat loud & clear, teeny bit of protein in wee, blood pressure low etc etc. Got my consultant appt April 4th and hopefully my swabs came back clear. Not looking forward to 4 weekly ones being donw but if it prevents pre-term labour then bring it on.
Have a great night girls xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

diddle · 23/03/2006 17:23

Hello all,

Glad to hear you're getting BH, me too. i'm 29 weeks today, and they are doing me head in, some come quite foten, but not regular and not painful. doctor says thats fine, but it won't stop me worrying. I also keep getting a sensitive part on my belly, which really hurts if i press it, anyone else had that, feels very tender, weird.

congrats slink and HK on adding another week to your pregnancy Grin

Wills · 23/03/2006 21:28

Hi Diddle - definetly on the sensitive parts of my belly absolute big definite. Blooming hurts doesn't it!

Arabica Tonnes and tonnes and tonnes of hugs and luck.

Have had one of those days where you drag yourself out of bed and then wonder why you bothered. Started with finding black sock in the white (now grey) washing (well that's 3 out of the four maternity bras up the creek).

Moved onto locking myself out of the house without keys, train pass, work pass, purse etc and having to explain to my work that I couldn't come in cos I'm a dozy cow.

Then my poor poor poor Nanny has gone into preterm labour. Its stopped now, thank goodness but that may have blown my care for the last 2 weeks that I'm supposed to be doing. Very worried about her but also worried how I'm going to cover my child care until I stop especially next Monday when is dh's next operation.

Been to see mw today. Baby has turned and is starting to engage. Which may explain why I went to the loo tonnes and tonnes and tonnes last night and that I have the back ache of all back aches minus labour etc.

Am off to have a bath.

Hi to everyone.

slinkstah · 24/03/2006 00:08

hk- its good they are swabbing you regularly:) I have my cervix dr appointment tommorrow, it will be the last one. maybe i will tell her of my mysterious taste!

more than 4 BH an hour means you should call the hospital. it says it in my notes and on the internet. Although i was getting more than 4 an hour before stitch and told them all the time but they did not monitor me or anything.

dp finally saw and felt baby kick properly he was so shocked and said omg its no wonder you can't sleep through that!

wills- wow sounds like a nightmare day! dunno what to suggest about the childcare, have you got any family nearby that could help you out for the monday? Don't worry too much about the work though, im sure they will not be too mad considering you are leaving on mat leave soon. what do you do anyway?
what are everyones professions/jobs? just being nosy really but realised i don't know what anyone does apart from diddle.

ill start- im a fulltime student doing a degree, or i was but have took time out for the rest of this pg. i now just lie around bossing dp around.

Arabica · 24/03/2006 00:32

Hi Slinkstah, good luck for your appt. I'm a journalist, working form home, but I'm a bit bored with it and eventually want to be a psychotherapist.
I'm finding all this waiting for amnio results so hard to bear. Am having some back pain and some crampy pain but I get that anyway...and I was told to expect some discomfort. After tomorrow afternoon I can stop worrying so much about a m/c and just concentrate on worrying about the results.

slinkstah · 24/03/2006 00:51

hi arabica, i hope you have been in bed resting!
when do the results come in? if you mc after amnio does it happen within a few days then? sorry i don't know that much about amnio luckily i have never gone through it. you must be very worried.
working from home sounds good, thats what i would like to do when i finally get a proper job, whenever that will be Grin

Arabica · 24/03/2006 00:57

You don't have to rest after amnio if you don't want toonly if it helps with the anxiety (it doesn't for me). They told me it would take 5 days for the results to come through (they will ring me) but some MNers have said they got theirs in 2, although they weren't at my hospitalthat's the preliminary results, which rule out the condition my consultant is concerned about. Full results take 2 weeks--if they suspect spina bifida, for example, you have to go through the wait. If you miscarry before the results come out then they don't tell you unless you want them to.
I just keep thinking about how I will feel when I get the call, and it sends me into a spiral of panic. And right now am worried about m/c as well. Should try and sleep I suppose.
