Well done, slink, diddle, cori and HK for counting another Thu, it's Mon for me

petunia · 16/03/2006 09:57

Morning all,
Well done Slink and Hellkat, another week gone!

Think I'm counting Fridays, so I think I'm 33+6 today. Can I say I'm feeling cr*p? I was having lots of Braxton Hicks yesterday (so much that I actually got my hospital bag ready!), my back hurts and my ankles are like tree trunks, even my fingers and toes are like sausages! I've also got (another) stinking cold so had a lousy night. I've got the midwife later on, start of fortnightly visits from now on.

Sorry for the moan (petunia slinks off to feel sorry for herself!)

Arabica · 16/03/2006 10:04

Cori, sorry to hear DS is ill again, hope the paediatrician sorts him out.
Petunia, you have every right to feel sorry for yourself--sounds ghastly!
Well done Slink & HellKat. I'm a Wednesday counter, so am 20+1.
Hello Moondog!

Missmibaby · 16/03/2006 10:45

I am pg for the 3rd time after 2 mc. I have a DS 2.11. I am currently 8wks. Last Friday I had a scan and it was normal little heartbeat etc. I had been feeling slightly nauseous and tender boobs. Then last night I woke up and all symptons had gone. I think it's over but I can't remember what happened with the last 2 mc. If it's not too painful, can anyone else remeber how they felt. I hope you don't mind me putting this on this thread I don't know anyone in RL who's had the smae experience and understands. You've been really helpful to me b4.

Congrats to all of you who've reached your individual milestones.

slinkstah · 16/03/2006 10:49

diddle- i am insomniac Grin haven't got to sleep before 1am since early pg.

congrats to all thursday counters another week bites the dust!

petunia- sudden swelling can mean preclampsia can't it? defo mention it to midwife later. sorry you feel so poorly.

hi missmibaby im sure someone will be able to help you. there is less chance of m/c after a heart beat is seen but i know you must be so worried.

something odd happened- had an opinionated rant last night on the chat thread, and this morning the whole thread has disapearedShock

desperatehousewife · 16/03/2006 11:07

Just had my scan and there IS a baby and a heartbeat! Am so overjoyed. Know it's early days still (they dated me at 6+3) but it's a positive step in the right direction.
Phew.

noddyholder · 16/03/2006 11:18

SOOOOOOOOOOOHappy for you!Look after yourself i have mailed you re reiki I am sorry i have been so useless but my tooth is awful! You really deserve this happiness xxx

diddle · 16/03/2006 11:35

DHW - congratulations, you must feel so relieved, thats fab news.

Missmybaby - My symptoms didn't just stop when i miscarried, but they were never too bad to start with, not like this pregnancy. I did have days during this pregnancy where my symptoms vanished for a while, so it not uncommon. Bet your baby is just giving you a well deserved rest from nausea, you wait, you'll get one whiff of something later on and it will all come back.

mygirllolipop · 16/03/2006 11:41

DHW - congrats, well done, I'm so pleased for you.
Missmi - it might not mean bad news. I didn't have symptoms at all the pg I MC'd so can't advise.

wools · 16/03/2006 12:12

DHW - Congratulations....that's brilliant news - you must be delighted.....
Missmibaby - agree with Diddle - sometimes the symptoms do seem to disappear for a while - I'm sure everything is fine especially that the scan has showed a hearbeat.
Good luck for scan tomorrow Arabica.

cori · 16/03/2006 13:29

yey, DHW!! Am so pleased it is good news.

Thanks Arabica, I think he just has a flu virus this time. Peadatrician appointment is a follow up from the last time.

mrsmaddyd · 16/03/2006 13:35

missmybaby. its not unusual for symptoms to dissapear for a day or two. With my mc;s i didnt have any sypmtoms at all and this time around they didnt appear till 7 weeks and dissapeared at 9 weeks and ive been worrying ever since. If you are really worried call your docotr and ask to be reffrred to your early pregnancy unit. Good Luck and i hope all is well.

DHW Congrats on your little heartbeat. Once youve seen a heartbeat it greatly reduces the risk of mc. i saw mine at 6wk4 and was an amazing experince and also helped me relax. But only a little Grin im still a worry guts

petunia · 16/03/2006 14:22

DHW- excellent news about your scan.
mrsmaddyd- glad you're doing well too.

Been to the midwife. Baby is head down, with its back running along my right side. There was a student midwife there as well so I've been poked and prodded twice. The student m/w said the baby had got a hard little bottom sticking out! The m/w didn't seem that bothered about my swollen fingers and ankles and I've had it before with other pgs. Just got to keep my feet up more (something I wasn't doing yesterday!)

slinkstah · 16/03/2006 15:19

whoohoo excellent news dhw)

also great to hear alls well with you too petunia:)

Arabica · 16/03/2006 15:22

DHW-fantastic news.
Missmibaby, my nausea and boob tendersness also came and went during the early stages of my current pregnancy. And when I had my missed m/c I still had a lot of pg symptoms. I have a friend who didn't discover she was pg until 14 wks. She had what she thought was a v mild stomach upset with nausea when she was about 7-8 wks pg, but then it went away...she only discovered later on that she was pg!
Slink, perhaps it was all a weird mumsnet dream!

Missmibaby · 16/03/2006 15:25

Thanks for all your messages. I have calmed down a bit now.
Congrats DHW on your heartbeat.
Trying to take my mind off pg, which is hard when it's so quiet at work and I'm doing admin (tries not to fall asleep)

HellKat · 16/03/2006 15:45

DHW- congrats Fabulous news!!!
Miss- My pg symptoms totally disappeared for over a week. I was (as was the hosp) convinced that I was going to mc (had stacks of bleeding & clotting 25 days out of 30) and with the result my boobs started shrinking, my headaches disappeared and my bump shtunk too. I'm sure now it was because everyone told me it was'nt a viable pg therefore body acted on instinct. You watch what happens to you now when you start believing you are lol. Everything grows at double quick speed! Hope that puts your mind at rest. x

kreamkrackers · 16/03/2006 15:46

hi just come on quickly to say my sister had a scan today and all went very well for her. the sac's back to being normal shape and they've dated it and told her everything seems fine. such a relief :o:o:o

wools · 16/03/2006 16:04

KK, that is absolutely fantastic news. I'm so pleased - you must be both relieved and delighted.

Wills · 16/03/2006 16:11

Miss - I've had loads of days where I didn't feel pregnant with the pregnancies that have worked and those that didn't.

DHW - That's fab!

KK - excellent news about your sister - FAB!!!!

Petunia - I'm waiting for the tree trunk ankles too. The swelling has just started, had to remove my wedding rings the other day but certainly not significant. Do be careful of any headaches though. Do you have a bp machine? They're expensive but I had to get one during dd2's pregnancy as it was only the way I was allowed to stay at home. I'm finding it worth its weight in gold now as I can check and be reassured. If you do decide to get one DON't go for wrist ones. My midwife was adament that ones that go over your arm are the only ones worth buying and was the only one she was prepared to take readings from. Boots sell them here's the one we \link {http://www.boots.com/shop/product_details.jsp?productid=1049732\bought}. Its 90 quid so not cheap.

mygirllolipop · 16/03/2006 16:30

KK- so glad everything is OK for your sister, so it was all just a scare and everything is fine? That's such a relief.
Wills - I'm not sure BP machine is worth it, My physiology lecturer at uni seemed to think the shop-bought ones were inaccurate. Plus you will get cheked enough at the MW. We wouldn't want to worry if the machine said your BP was high but really it was fine, the machine was inaccurate.

going4potty · 16/03/2006 16:35

Hi all

petunia · 16/03/2006 16:39

Thanks for the info about the bp machine. I've never had any problems with my bp, just swelling fingers (I've had to take off my wedding ring as well) and ankles. I'm back with the m/w in 2 weeks time anyway, though I will be on the look out for headaches.

kk- so pleased your sister has had good news.

spub · 16/03/2006 17:26

Hurrah at all the good news.
DHW - I am beyond thrilled for you. Huge hugs.
KK - lovely news about your sister.
Miss - hopefully all of your fears will be unfounded. As you'll see, you are amongst froends who understand here and hopefully we can all help get each other through these pgs with healthy babies at the end of them!
Best to eeryone else!

slinkstah · 16/03/2006 17:43

arabica- i think mumsnet towers must have removed it as my post might have been a bit opinionated for most lol
or maybe it was a mumsnet dream! all very weird

KK- excellent news about your sister:)

i have a wrist bp machine it was £28 quid it works quite well, well it always says bp is around 100/60 which is what it is at antenatal appointments too.
