squidink fingers and toes all crossed for your scan tomorrow, hope it goes well.
crackers so with you on the trumping, have spent the afternoon at work trying to conceal any noises, luckily there's been no offensive smell today plus the window behind me is open to provide additional airflow. I'm actually quite proud of some of the trumps, and have made myself cry with laughter although DH really not impressed (despite the fact he never holds it in)!
Que brilliant news, what a relief!
Roll on next Tuesday when I get to see how much the nugget has grown in 2 weeks, very exciting.

Wommer · 04/11/2011 17:58

Hi all,
Sooooooooooo with you on the pumping - or poo-squeaks as my family calls them lol. Frankly it's getting ridiculous! Also not loving the fact that I wake up a soze 12 and go to be at least a size 16. I feel like an inflatable toy!! Grrrrr.

Is this another one of those symptoms we can expect to disappear in the next few weeks?

que I'm so relieved for you Grin that's brilliant news!

Got my scan on Monday - can't wait!
Is everyone else having the nuchal fold test done? We've decided against it.

Xx

Wommer · 04/11/2011 17:59

Really really good luck sqidink xx

AlexTasha · 04/11/2011 20:17

wommer My partner and I decided to go private for the NT scan just for piece of mind. I have also heard that they can sometimes tell the gender of the baby from the scan, so fingers crossed!! How come you decided against?

Rugbylovingmum · 04/11/2011 20:43

Hi Wommer - we've decided against the nuchal fold too and I've turned down the blood tests too.

Good luck squidink, dozeyland and anyone else with scans in the next few days.

lucy23110 · 04/11/2011 21:38

Hi all. Hope everyone OK and good luck to those who have scans. I have realised today that I have felt fine for the last 3 days!! It's DD 4th bd today and just sat down, been on the go since 3. It's been a lovely day but not sure where we will put everything when we have 2. 11 days until scan (15th) v v excited and keeping everything crossed. Take care all L x

Russki · 04/11/2011 21:48

we've prob decided against the blood tests etc too. I guess my reason is that i'm not sure i would want to do the amnio, particularly as I live abroad, and i'm not convinced that the hospital here would have as low as a risk of miscarriage as those in the UK.

Anyway, going in for 12-week scan on monday. good luck to everybody else with scans coming up. I've gone from being relatively healthy to eating half a box of pringles in one sitting. blurgh.

Wommer · 05/11/2011 07:56

Hi all,

alextasha we decided not to for two reasons 1) I'm only 28 so the risk factor is really low anyway and 2) probably more importantly, if the test came back with a relatively high chance of there being an issue eg 1in150, we would then have the soul searching of an amnio and even if that came up with something we wouldn't terminate.
So it would just cause us a load of worry and everything would probably be fine in the end.
Hope that all makes sense? We had a really long talk about it and this is the potted version lol Smile

How's everyone today? I weighed myself this morning and have chucked on 5 lbs in 6 weeks.
I therefore have the answer to that age old question.... Who ate all the pies????

I DID!!

Xx

Cewafwb · 05/11/2011 08:43

Montsti surely you can't tell what you are having at 12 week scan? They certainly couldn't/wouldn't when I was having ds1,2&3. Has it changed? I thought it was 20 weeks you found that out.

Scan also on 15th so that makes four of us! Will be a busy day on here.

Still eating like a horse but is calming down again, odd that it started again at 10 weeks having given me a week or two off! Might venture down the curry line tonight and see how I go, quite brave! Have been eating so much fruit in bid to stop eating rubbish that its now, well lets just say, its not hanging around long inside!!!

Having MAJOR panics as to whether we have made the right decision or not. Last week to back out. Am sure I won't, but its making me realise that its the last week before no return and four children. Four boys probably as it feels like I am having one, and I knew with the other three without doubt and I was right each time. Most odd.

Boobs have taken on a whole new world of their own. Went to John Lewis yesterday with a friend, who doesn't know and is going to take it VERY badly as her dh has stopped her by having more than two which she is utterly desperate about - not looking forward to telling her! Anyway, desperately need a new bra and couldn't go and get one! Will have to go another day but its so far away and having to do drop offs and pickups from school - not sure I will get there and back in time! JL also refuse to give underwired if pregnant and I need underwired. Not sure how I got round that last time.

Waffle waffle.

SirCharles · 05/11/2011 09:29

Cewafwb - How can John Lewis refuse to fit under wired?! That is outrageous. So long as it fits properly there should be no problem with the underwire. MN should complain and then educate John Lewis. Harrumph.

Rolling into the 12th week with some trepidation. Fingers crossed all ok. Scan on Thursday. DH is coming back from overseas especially so am really hoping we do not get any nasty surprises. No idea why I am expecting the worst. No MS has bothered me slightly as people keep saying MS is a good sign. Is it a bad sign without?! At least I do have some symptoms. Crushing tiredness? Check! Starving all the time? Check! When do I start to bloom? Bring it on!

Good luck to everyone with scans this week.

AlexTasha · 05/11/2011 12:08

wommer I completely see where you are coming from re the NT scan. I would rethink it now, but have already but a deposit down for it! I'm only 25 so hopefully nothing goes wrong. eeeek. I thought they would definitively be able to tell me whether it had it or not. Oh well, fingers crossed.

Good luck for everyone with scans!!
Can't believe there are 4 of us getting them on the 15th, so exciting. Can't wait to hear how they all go.

cewafwb What's wrong with underwires? Are we not supposed to wear them? That seems so weird.

:)

AlexTasha · 05/11/2011 12:11

...also sircharles I havent had MS either, or tiredness or anything! So I really hope that isnt a bad sign. I had a dating scan and everything seemed OK, so only a week and a bit til my 12 week. When is your scan?

Wommer · 05/11/2011 13:19

Hi alex maybe you're having something on top of the one that I'm not having?
The one I turned down was free on the NHS and according to our midwife, it would give you a revised % chance of having problems.
I think it's the amnio which gives a definite, but this also has risks (I think)
Anyway at 25 you've got really low chances so am sure you'll be fine Smile
Xxxx

AlexTasha · 05/11/2011 13:59

wommer Thanks, yeah we are getting blood tests done for the NT scan specifically so I think it gives you a pretty accurate result. To be honest the main reason I want to get it done is that a friend got it done at 13 weeks and they told her the gender of her baby! My DP and I are so impatient to find out! :) THanks for the reassurance tho!

Cewafwb · 05/11/2011 15:57

AlexTasha - I went to Peter Jones in London and they told me without hesitation that its company policy that they won't fit pregnant women with underwired bras! Apparently it has something to do with the wire blocking the milk ducts of something like that. I have worn them - have to - for all three of mine and I breast fed VERY happily for all three. Think its rather naive of them to refuse to sell them, but they did, so I left - and that was a good four weeks ago and I haven't done anything about it since - must do that! I guess I could measure myself - rather dreading it to be honest as really don't want to know how much I have grown! I can't even admit how much weight I have put on!

However, on a slightly more positive note, after my last rather depressing post (not todays) I have stopped eating sugar again - in your face sugar not the stuff hidden in things like tomato ketchup etc) and am feeling SO SO SO much better. SO much less shouty and not irritated, and feel like I have come out of a cloud of fog. Its extraordinary what things can do to you, none more so than when you are pregnant.

I just got sent a letter by the docs telling me I have to have the flu jab - is anyone else not wanting one? I have only had it once, we all did, and it was the illest winter we have ever had, we all caught everything and anything going, whether this was just by chance or whether its because it lowers your immune system - I do not know - does anyone have any info on this?

SirCharles · 05/11/2011 19:15

Hi Alex. My scan is Thurs afternoon. As I am nearly 10 years older than you I have not turned down the combined test offered to me. However DH and I have not discussed what we would do if the result is not what we hope for..... Not sure we will unless we have to though.

Good luck with your scan! Are you 15/11?

Cewafwb have you tried bravissimo? Or Rigby & Peller? R&P is opposite Peter Jones (assume PJ u refer to is sloane square John Lewis!) and have been lovely to me.

So long as the bra fits properly the underwire should not damage the breast tissue or block ducts. John Lewis is out of order as it should be personal choice. In fact I think there is a thread on this somewhere ........:

I have been recommended to have the flu jab. What are you other ladies doing?

Btw any thoughts on getting a Doppler? I quite fancy being able to listen to he baby heart beat in the comfort of my own home. Is this really weird?! Anyone have any suggestions for which one to get? (amazon has a selection!)

Cewafwb · 05/11/2011 21:31

SirCharles no idea how you know how old people are but I am definitely having the full monty in terms of what ever is offered! Nuchal fold was most definitely usual practise for my first two in London and so I went for it here when offered with ds3, so yes definitely - forewarned is forearmed and all that.

Um - is this your first baby? If it is, might I tell you that your boobs will grow and grow and grow like you will never ever believe - so Rigby and Peller? A HUGE GULP needed for you my dear! I love it in there, don't get me wrong, I love that they can do it just by looking at you, but I also know that you need a small mortgage in order to go in and not something to be done when you will need to go back in again in a few weeks time! I am smiling when saying this - words never come out with emotion like they would if I was speaking to you so don't think I am being horrid, just either in awe that you can buy them so regularly or worried that you don't know that they will grow again! and again! and again! xx

hippieshake · 05/11/2011 21:39

squidink how was the scan? I've been thinking about you today x

CrackersandCheese · 05/11/2011 21:42

Cewafwb some people have got their ages on the thread list. I'm not aware that SirCharles has some secret power that we don't know about. Lol.

Any news squid? Hope it all went well and you're relaxing at home.

Cewafwb · 05/11/2011 21:57

Crackersandcheese - thanks for that - just looked - quite fun!

Squidink how was scan? all ok?

squidink · 06/11/2011 09:36

Hi ladies, thanks for thinking of me. Sadly we got bad news yesterday. The bleeding continued so didn't make it to the private scan, ended up in a&e again. The scan found no heart beat and it looks like bambino didn't make it past 8 or 9 weeks.

Yesterday was very tough but Dh has been amazing. Just trying to stay positive though feeling very numb and empty. I'm sure it will get better and we'll try again very soon. In the mean time I'll get my fill of rare steak and soft cheese, though neither appeal as much as they did when I couldn't have them.

Good luck to everyone on this thread. Hope you have smooth pregnancies and beautiful may bambinos xxx

CrackersandCheese · 06/11/2011 10:10

Oh squid I'm really sorry. That's such dreadful news.

I hope you take some time to look after yourself and relax over the next few days and weeks.

We're all thinking of you.xx

alwaysanauntie · 06/11/2011 11:16

squidink so sorry, big cuddles, sounds like you're being very grown up about it all, remember we're here if you need us and lots of other good stuff on mumnsnet about mc.

Alextasha please bear in mind the NT scan with blood tests only gives you a risk factor like 1 in 1000, it cannot diagnose whether or not the baby has downs, that can only be done with testing the baby's blood by amnio or CVS. Hopefully will give you a really low risk factor in which case not worth worrying. :) Also my sister got told she was having a boy at 13 week scan and had it confirmed at 17 week scan (in Italy so she gets 7 scans!!!) so it is possible to tell, but take with a big pinch of salt as can be wrong!

I have downs on both my parent's sides, one genetically inherited (although thankfully I'm not a carrier but my brother and one sister are) and my cousin had a downs baby when she was 42 (her 1st and only child) so defo having NT and blood test to check risk, I'll probably have amnio if it's high as my sister and sister in law had 2 tests each and other sister just had one last week (she's 38 and wanted to check) and they all went ok, so not massively concerned about risk of mc with amnio. Tough decisions though as I guess there's still a risk, not something to be taken lightly...

alwaysanauntie · 06/11/2011 11:20

PS: on the bra front I got measured at John Lewis as they're better here than M&S but then went and bought underwired bras from Sainsbury's (at £6 each I couldn't go wrong if I'm only going to wear them for a few weeks, plus actually very well made and comfortable). Thankfully boobs have stopped at 3 cup sizes up from pre-pg so hoping they stay put for a while! Hmm

Na7asha · 06/11/2011 12:37

Hello ladies :)

Haven't been on for a while and just spent some time catching with all the news and am so sad to hear about 7lamby, CODwidow, little9 and squid. Hope you're all OK and like everyone else on here sending you big hugs. x

Have been crazy busy getting married - last Friday :)
Far too much hard work as we did it all very diy but we had an army of helpers that made it happen. The day was amazing and went without a hitch. Popped over to Rome for a quick break and am now absolutely knackered! Still, can now settle back into normal life and enjoy the pregnancy.

Have my 12 week scan on Tuesday when I will actually be 11+3 so hope we see arms and legs nice & clearly. I had an early scan as I was a very worried first timer and all was fine so am not too worried but you never know. Will be relieved if all OK and have told myself will then be able to sit back & enjoy it. Plus, as have not had any symptoms to speak of, I CANNOT wait for the weeks to fly by and me actually look pregnant. My waist has certainly grown and my belly expanded but mostly due to gas I think :(

I've had terrible back pain though whch I googled and is apparently my pelvis. The pain is concentrated in my left butt cheek and so bas that I can't always put weight on that leg. I've read pelvic floor excercises help but am not sure I'm doing them right. Going to ask the MW next time I see her.

Plus, as I'm a 39 year old first timer I am a higher risk so my 16 week appointment is with a consultant. Really hope that my early weeks of plain sailing continue but that would make me incredibly lucky. So, have everything crossed ;)

Spoke to work the other day as we're currently living with the in laws to save for a house deposit, eek! Needed to know where I stand so we can work out a budget. Massively disappointed to find out I get 6 weeks at 90% and then 33 weeks stat maternity pay of £128. Am not sure how we'll manage but am sure everybody struggles. Anybody else worried about how they'll manage?

Hope you're all OK and I look forward to all the impending 12 week scan posts :)
