Hello ladies, mind if I join you? I am new to MN, but am trying to pick up the chat lingo :-) I have just had my 12 week scan, which actually turned out to be a 10w+3 scan, so due date is 21 May! This is my first. DH and I were amazed to see the little sprogbert kicking its tiny legs about during the scan - I'm still struggling to grasp the reality of all this growing inside! So far so lucky with the MS, although I have been feeling a bit queasy this week. Seems to be OK if I keep eating, although that spells DOOM for the waist line :-( Like many of you, I am definitely finding crunchy salty snacks are the way forward...

Russki · 28/10/2011 19:51

well, i've had MS now for several weeks, but only today has it been so bad that i was certain i'd actually be sick but i haven't been. sorry, probably far too much information... trousers still fitting, but definitely feel a hardening around my stomach. Have had two scans (living abroad, so they are quite relaxed about it all) but really waiting for the one next friday when finally i can broadcast it to the world! (although the world is getting smaller every day, as i just can't seem to stop blurting it out)
anyway, hope everyone else isn't feeling too rough - hopefully the sickness will start to go away soon..

Wommer · 28/10/2011 20:59

So sorry to hear that little9. Take care of yourself
Xxx

hippieshake · 29/10/2011 10:27

Sorry to hear that little9 look after yourself xxx

hippieshake · 29/10/2011 10:32

I'm with you all on the rubbish food thing. I'm vegetarian, and usually I live off fruit and homemade soups. I must get 10 a day nevermind 5! Since this constant MS though I've gone off everything. I am literally managing cereal in a morning (the usual cup of tea has gone.) Crumpets with cheese for lunch, a snack in the afternoon (usually something cakey) and then my dinner. I've seemingly put 2lbs on, which is good because my BMI was only 18. I'm not sure how much of it is just bloating though. I've taken to wearing tights and baggy dresses. I miss healthy food!!

Also got my scan date through (they moved it back because the early scan showed I was less pregnant than we thought). It's now 25th November which is ages away!!

How's everyone feeling?xx

QueSeraSera24 · 29/10/2011 17:50

I seem to have the opposite problem! I seem to have lost all sicky feelings and although i know i should be thankful but it's making me so paranoid! I think i'm 10+2 so maybe it's all just levelling off and getting better but i'm worried that i'll get to the scan with a MMC. Even though my boobs are still sore, they're not half as bad as they were.

I never had a massive problem with MS and it was rarely in the mornings, usually if i was hungry or had eaten too much. Maybe i've just found a way of controlling it?

Anyone else finding that their symptoms are just trailing off?
Hoping that all is still normal.

hippieshake · 29/10/2011 18:25

I think some people find that they start to feel less queasy at around 10 weeks and it starts to ease off. I'm hoping so because that means I've only got a week to go until I can start facing real food again! [hsmile]

This is my first so I don't have the experience, but my Mum said that at about 12 weeks she felt fine, and didn't feel pregnant until 18 weeks when she felt me kicking xx

BlueCrane · 29/10/2011 18:46

Evening all...

little9 so sorry to hear your news, I unfortunately know the pain you are going through...take good care and rest well. There's some fab threads in the MC section of MN that I found invaluable earlier in the year.

So so glad I logged on here tonight...I'll be 10 weeks tomorrow and in the last few days seem to have had more energy all of a sudden and haven't felt quite as queasy today...been panicing that after great scan at 8+4 we'll get to the 12w one and find it's all gone wrong...trying to stay positive but after an MMC earlier in the year it's so hard! Boobs still sore though which is good! TMI alert but anyone else had excess CM...I have for weeks now but then yesterday and today suddenly have had some jelly like CM too a bit like EWCM and am a bit Confused about this!

Hope you're all having a good weekend...DH cooking a lovely curry as we have friends coming over, just hope I can eat it and stay awake to chat to them (despite comments above!)

lucy23110 · 29/10/2011 20:51

Evening all, I'm have the whole panic thing going on because I am starting to feel ok. My ms is 85% better, got so much more energy, still can't sleep! But I did get my scan date in the post this morning 15 Nov, going to be the longest 2 weeks! Hope all start to feel a bit better soon and my thoughts are with you little9. L x

CrackersandCheese · 29/10/2011 21:00

Hi girls,

My symptoms are starting to ease now too. But as there's a few of us around the 10 week mark who are starting to feel better, I really don't think we should worry and think positive.

[hwink]

Wommer · 29/10/2011 21:04

Hi all, pretty much all of my symptoms have gone now. Not worried overly though as they're meant to go be 12 weeks and will be 11 on Tuesday, figure they should start fading out around now any way.

However I do appear to have a new one... Has anyone else got major pain in the coccyx area? Havent bashed it or anything so can't help but think it's related. Sort of feels like it's moved out of where it normally sits. Mainly hurts when walking or changing position - sitting to standing eg.

Hope all's well.... Hour extra in bed tonight woooop woooop!!
Xx

MarKettle · 30/10/2011 09:17

I was 10 weeks on Friday and I've been feeling so much better! Last time around I felt so ill that at 17 weeks I saw my GP as I thought I was abnormal Blush, everyone said it'd be so much better after 12 weeks! My GP said that it's not uncommon to feel sick, tired etc until 20 weeks. Needless to say I was not pleased by that information, but I was fine by the time my 20 week scan came around.

Had the flu jab yesterday, just hoping I made the right decision on that!

hippieshake · 30/10/2011 15:22

I've been really naughty. I had a massive craving for coleslaw yesterday, so In had half a pot from ASDA. My MW said I couldn't eat stuff like that =(

Ooops! xx

Rugbylovingmum · 30/10/2011 16:25

Hippieshake - why aren't you allowed to eat coleslaw? I know that 'real' homemade mayonaise has raw egg in it but the stuff in Asda is fine. To be honest I ignored most of the eating guidelines last time - I was careful with food hygiene and didn't eat seafood unless I was sure it was fresh and prepared properly but I've gone 30 years without food poisoning so I wasn't really worried about the risk during pregnancy. I avoided liver as it is high in vitamin A and I don't really eat stinky soft cheeses (I ate stilton soup but the cheese is cooked so I wasn't worried). It's worth avoiding anything you think might be risky and being sensible but I don't think you need to get too stressed about avoiding loads of food types. Luckily my midwife was very laidback too.

squidink · 30/10/2011 18:37

Hello, A bit of a late entry I know but can I join? I'm brand new to Mumsnet, still getting to grips with the acronyms, and expecting my first baby. Due date is 25th May.

So far I haven't really had any symptoms except tiredness in the evenings. My 12-week scan is on 11th November. We had a scare early on and had a scan at just 7-weeks so taking each day as it comes and crossing fingers and toes.

Getting my head around what not to eat has been a struggle so Rugbylovingmum's advice is really helpful.

Montsti · 30/10/2011 18:46

I was 10 weeks yesterday and have also been feeling better (felt absolutely awful 7-9.5 weeks..) and also panicking...I do remember it was similar last time round though much worse ms this time...am still exhausted but really struggling to sleep and my 2 ear old is climbing into bed every night so not helping matters! Am eating so much rubbish too and a bit worried about my coke (cola) consumption too. Usually a can a day (I struggle without it when so tired/queasy). My gynae said 200mg was the limit a ay and I am only having about 40 but still bad..

Can't wait for my next scan (had one at 7+6) and really hope all is ok. Only 2 weeks 4 days to go...

Rugbylovingmum · 30/10/2011 19:10

Welcome squidink and I'm glad my post was useful. When I read it back I thought it sounded a bit preachy which I didn't mean Blush. I just think we all have enough to worry about at this stage!

I'm joining everyone who has been worrying about the symptoms easing up. I should know better, this happened with DD too but I can't help it. I've got 2.5 weeks left until my scan so I'm just going to have to try to enjoy feeling better until then Smile.

BlueCrane · 30/10/2011 19:45

So so so comforting to read of others with symptoms easing!! Looks as though we've all got a similar wait for scans too so it's going to be a long two weeks for us all! Mine is on 15th Nov so same as you lucy. We're going to be away from weds this week for 5 nights so hoping that will help the time pass quickly! Really wish I could enjoy feeling a bit better and having more energy though but I think until I see everything is ok on that scan I will struggle to accept it after bad news earlier in the year at 12w!

On the food front I so wanted some brie last week but resisted...have also just been more careful with food hygiene and think I would also eat seafood (except mussels which seem to be fairly prone to causing nasty food poisoning) providing I know where it's from and has been cooked properly as you say! I generally have a fairly strong stomach anyway.

Take care all!

hippieshake · 30/10/2011 19:56

Ruby thank you for easing my guilt haha! I think that my MW was just very stern. I've never been ill off anything like that before, so I don't see why I would now. I'm vegetarian, so I'm okay on the meat/fish side of things. I am missing my goats cheese on chunky bread though.

I'm not sure how much weight I'm supposed to put on during my first trimester. I've put on around 2lbs I think (although what's water I'm not sure.) Still got 3 weeks to go. Is that about right?

I'm really glad that everyone is starting to feel better Smile

BlueCrane · 30/10/2011 21:00

hippieshake I think I read that it's typical to put on about 2lb in the first trimester though women often lose weight due to MS. As you say it's difficult to tell what actually is weight and what's water bloating though!

alwaysanauntie · 31/10/2011 08:57

Morning all, to put you all at rest I felt (comparatively) fantastic the week before my scan and all was well, and am still feeling fine apart from miserable cold so I think fewer symptoms is a blessing we should enjoy while it lasts!

On the weight front I've lost 2 lbs but waistline definitely bigger! Had to do a big clothes shop a couple of weeks ago as I didn't have anything that fitted for work :( but also found out one of my colleagues due same time as me so nice to have someone to sympathise at work. Have a good day all, and keep positive! :)

BlueCrane · 31/10/2011 09:22

Morning all...well, symptoms back with a vengence and I feel awful this morning and brought half my breakfast back up too...oh the joys! Only second time I've actually been sick but ugh I do hate it! Also seem to be getting headaches again as had one on Saturday and seem to have the start of one now too!

alwaysanauntie I have also lost 1-2lb but none of my trousers fit around the waist anymore and most of my fitted work tops have had to be replaced with the 'bubble hem' variety with an elasticated bottom - just glad that seems to be in fashion at the moment!! I have one pair of work trousers I can manage with hair bands around the buttons and have had to buy one pair of plain black mat ones which I am just careful to cover up the stretchy panels so no-one notices!

Trying hard to 'look busy' sat at my desk but would quite like to crawl back home and lie on the sofa or even tucked up back under my duvet!!

CrackersandCheese · 31/10/2011 11:22

Oh blue that sonds rubbish. Whilst I don't particularly have many symptoms right now, I too can imagine nowhere I would rather be than snuggled up at home.

I really should do some work but haven't started anything yet.

BTW does everyone have their scan dates now? I still haven't heard anything but would expect it to be next week.

I was thinking of leaving it a couple more days and then phoning up the MW to check what's happening.

BlueCrane · 31/10/2011 11:43

crackers I would give the MW a call as would've thought you'd have the date by now...have you had your booking app? I've already had an early scan at 8+4 and have my next one on 15th Nov but last time think I got 2 weeks notice for my scan at 11+6 and was due to have the booking app on the same day! So...would've thought you should have had a letter by now!

Struggling to get any work done today...though am managing a combination of MN and weather reports for New York where we're heading on Wednesday - looks as though I need to pack my snow boots!!

CrackersandCheese · 31/10/2011 12:29

I've had my booking appt- all fine there. Maybe you're right. I'm working from home tomorrow so I'll give them a call, as it can't hurt.

Ooooo blue New York sounds great. Have you been before? I've been a few times and I was just saying to DP yesterday that I'd love to go again.
