Morning all!

Thank you for resurrecting the bag packing discussion - perfect timing for me! Although not sure I can be arsed to make any changes at this point....

Harassed I'm afraid I can't offer advice on the SPD, but I'm sorry you're having growth worries. Are you having the same person measure you all the time? My measurements are all over the place, but those done by the same person show me small, but regular-ish growth. For me, I found the growth scan reassuring as it showed all was well with Daisybean. It didn't make me high risk, and the consultant was happy for me to remain as MW-led care. But I understand your anxieties if it shows up something else.

Coconuts You feel silly with 2 bags - I've got 3!!!!! Blush

WIW Aquazumba sounds fab! We have aquanatal here which I should have attended more...

Collie I'm sorry to hear about your NCT experience - mine was similar with the BF session - the teacher (a different one) was being assessed by another lentil weaver teacher and was clearly uncomfortable. And refused to talk about expressing/bottles in any form/mix feeding saying that she could only talk about NCT policy and we would just have to make the best decisions for our families. She didn't talk about any potential problems at all, and we all complained to the other teacher that it was a bit naff, and out-of-step with current NHS teaching.

I'd hold out hope for the main sessions as the next teacher may be better. Although I only trusted what ours said because she has just qualified as a MW. And will be a very good one!

Hurrah for Bigmac's cheerfulness Grin

Loving the food list, will present it to OH and orderask him to stock the fridge accordingly

Hormonal wreck here too Sad Am delighted with the start of the rugby world cup [sad sports fan emoticon] but have just burst into tears during the opening ceremony because they had Jona Lomu there. Bloody hell, I need to get a grip Angry

LaraandLittleBean · 09/09/2011 09:38

Hello All

Sorry I've been a bit quiet the last couple of days - have been swamped! Nothing work-related (!) - just lots of running around at home. I fear I've missed too much to do a personalised catch-up to each of you so sending everyone a big hug... Sorry to anyone I miss.

Good luck Wombat - can't wait to hear your exciting news of MiniWombat's arrival into the world

Collie - was annoyed to hear your NCT experience wasn't great. We all pay so much for the classes so at the very least there should be consistency in the teaching methods. Are they at least encouraging you all to get to know eachother out of class? We were given eachother's full contact details and have been emailing already. As I think I mentioned, we all met for a drink on Tues night (with our menfolk) and it was actually a good laugh.

I have a hilarious NCT fear story to share. This morning when I was getting ready I casually told DH that I think our next class is on breastfeeding. He looked really anxious and said to me "I am really worried about that one - I really don't like the sound of you getting your bangers out!!!" I asked him why the hell he thought I would be getting my boobs out and he said: "your pal on Mumsnet (Collie) said there was lots of boobage at her friend's class." Had I not started exploded into fits of giggles I'd have kept him strung along - poor chap thought all the women on the course would be have a live demo! I have never seen anyone look so relieved when I told him it would be pics or videos (and then his mind focused on how fab it will be to oggle at other women's breasts, not realising that it's probably as sexually appealing as watching a cow being milked).

WiW - aquazumba? You must be one bloody fit lady.... I don't like any form of sport that makes me sweat (hence swimming). Thanks for missing me WiW!

BigMac - yeyy for great shopping news! I bought a cheeky monkey blanket last night that matches everything else in the nursery and another babygrow (Does babygro(w) have a "w" on the end??) I laughed when you said you're spending more time on MN... I am too but in my case it is because I am caring about work less and less with each passing day. To say I am on a countdown is an understatement. I find it extremely hard to remain motivated when the simple fact is I don't care any more.

Dachs - weekly scans sound fab. Hope it helps with the mentalling.

Coconuts - you feeling ok today hun?

Harassed - can you get a second opinion on the dates? Hope you're not in pain today - it's the last thing you need.

I know there is a separate thread for the hospital bag but can I emphasise (from last weekend's tour) how HOT the hospital was? I am going to pack a desk fan for use in labour and afterwards. Might be worth considering.

I BOUGHT MY MATERNITY TIGHTS! Writing this in bold because if any of you haven't bought your tights yet (!) get yourselves down to Debenhams today! Their three day sale ends tonight at about 10pm-ish. I was chuffed to only pay £8 (after the 20% discount is added) for a pack of two opaque black (60 dernier) tights (I like them thick). £4 per pair seems much cheaper than everywhere else and the quality seems pretty good (well good enough to get me through the rest of my pg).

Ooh - thought I'd better put my summer stuff away and take out some winter things. Tried on some of my "normal clothes" for a laugh and was delighted that with the exception of the bump, stuff still fits everywhere else. Including my beloved non Vicky Pollard jeggings. I would be naive to think things will fit for much longer (as bump is really quite large) but was pleased that I don't seem to have gained (much) weight anywhere else.

Going to see my sister's baby tonight. I am naively excited but also suspect it will terrify me when the realisation kicks in that Friday nights will never be the same again after the arrival of Little Boy.

Right - time to start some work perhaps??? Nahhhh.. will have breakfast first.

katherine2008 · 09/09/2011 15:29

checking in for wombat news...!

PinkFondantFancy · 09/09/2011 16:08

Will try and name check properly later. I am in the middle of trying to work out what food I can freeze for after baby is here! Eeeek!

Daisybell1 · 09/09/2011 16:20

Pink I had a freezer filling frenzy a couple of weeks ago and made:

Beef in beer stew
Lancashire hotpot
Chicken with pearl barley and apple sauce
Jambalaya
Plain risotto base
Kedgeree
Bolognaise sauce
Pasta bakey thing

Let me know if you want any recipes!

ALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 09/09/2011 16:26

Lurking too...

So people do actually do the freezer filling thing then? I thought it was like a myth or something people pretended they did to make themselves look good. Ha! Grin

Everytime I cook something in my slow cooker I always freeze the leftovers. The plan was to keep them for after baby arrives but I've actually eaten them already Grin For lunch as well, so a few days I have had two cooked meals a day [fat pig] Grin

milkyways · 09/09/2011 17:43

Good luck wombat!!

Just quickly popping in to ask- did anyone around 22-23 weeks get like a pulling type pain in their lower abdomen and on one side of their stomach after walking too much? I feel like I have stretched something in the right side of my belly button, it's like a mild stabbing pain and when I rub it, it feels better. I'm just hoping it's round ligament pain. I do have mild SPD, I don't know if it is that triggering it. Little man has been kicking away all day, so not too worried....YET! Do you think it would be okay to take a paracetemol or something?

Thanks!

cep · 09/09/2011 18:42

milky i get pains like that after walking for a while, did the and still do.

wombat hope everything's going ok.

coconuts i did last time and plan to this time as well, made things so much easier to just get something to warm up out of hte freezer.

urban can't believe it's 7 weeks already.

Freezingmyarseoff · 09/09/2011 19:02

wombat hoping that all is going well right now.

coconuts, and Pink I also filled the freezer before DD, I suddenly had a major nesting session. It saved us I reckon, the best thing I did. This time I will prioritising filling the freezer over making christmas dinner. I did lots of cooked apples and froze crumble mix so I could quickly do an apple crumble which was ace. Also shepherds/cottage pies, fish pies, chicken casseroles, soups. DH did a jambalaya but I found it too spicey when we finally ate it and DD didn't really appreciate either. I also bought lots of ready made pies, but I am a bit of a pie girl Grin

Miilky I don't get specific pains like that, but I definately get pains after over doing things albeit walking, swimming or just being on my feet too.

Lara good news on the clothes front.

Another Brian moment here, rather expensive this time. I forgot to pay for parking today and ended up with a £25 fine Blush. Plus I have already "grown" out of my 2 new bras I bought 4 weeks ago and my new swimming costume (only 3 weeks old) so all in all this pregnancy lark is turning out to be more expensive than I hoped Hmm

Wombat thinking of you. Can't wait to hear your birth story.

Went to see the midwife today. Baby measuring 34 weeks so that's ok, not engaged yet, still moving about all over the place. I'm secretly hoping he'll settle down to be breech or something, I not very secretly want another cs. Am beginning to get the fear about a vaginal birth as I didn't have one last time.

milkyways · 09/09/2011 22:38

Thanks cep and freezing. I tried some of those pelvic tilts (as suggested in that nhs purple book) and then laid down in bed. It seems a bit better now and the stabbing feeling has gone. I'll see what happens tomorrow!

cep · 10/09/2011 08:03

morning ladies.

wombat hoping the silence means your cuddling miniwombat

i'll be making stews and casseroles, cottage pies, fish pies, chicken pies etc. i never thought of freezing crumble, might do that this time as well. i do like a home made crumble.

irene I hope you have the birth you want, i found fear of the vb was worse than the actual vb.

hope everyone has a fab weekend.

ALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 10/09/2011 16:02

Lurky lurk...

How is everyone? Quiet here today?

I'm having a disastrous day today... My GHDs broke :( :( 2 weeks to repair them... 2 weeks of looking like James MAy crossed with Worzel Gummage. Angry

CollieandPup · 10/09/2011 18:54

Just quickly popping on to lurk for news from wombat, hope the fact that you're quiet means miniwombat made a safe appearance and you are enjoying lots of snuggles !

Had full day of NCT class today, all on birth. Was really good actually, much better then weds breastfeeding session. Trainer was excellent, really impressed! But Im totally shattered now so will catch up properly tomorrow.

Just about to go and have a soak!

bigmacandhappymeal · 10/09/2011 21:19

Evening all, just having a quick lurk for wombat news...

Glad second NCT session was better collie... did you bond with any other parents to be?

coconuts - dear lord. Can you get a cheapy pair to tide you over? I can't do anything with my hair at the moment. Really flat at the roots and enormous down the bottom. Awful.

lara I've ordered some of those tights - good tip ta. My mum has also embraced the shopping. She's bought the curtains for our nursery (from the jamboree range at M&P) and also the rug in the same range - it's an elephant. :) I like... well done mother BigMac.

milky I still get that every now and then and have to have a rest. Soon passes though. Also get a feeling like my belly button is being tugged from the inside [confuse]

tunnocks happy days! I am so jealous. Like lara I'm having a hard time giving a monkeys about work...

irene glad appt went well and hope it all goes the way you want. Is there much choice in these matters?

Today I gave the happymeal a proper squish. On the way to London to meet family and while getting a book out of my handbag a pantyliner dropped on the floor Blush. In the panic to pick it up before anyone noticed, I bent over sharply and then mentalled for a good 25 minutes imagining I'd just mashed the baby. All seems well and I imagine all is quite robust inside there. Right??

Me and Mr Bigmac are heading to Cornwall for a week tomorrow (our last hurrrah) so may well be quiet for a bit (i know, imagine!). Hope you all have a lovely, peaceful week and that there will be lots of exciting new arrival news to read about. Take care all xx
