I thought for sure someone else would have posted this before me! I am 5 weeks along (sounds so insignificant.....) and am seeing my doctor tomorrow to get things going. Am really excited and am hoping that things go well! According to those pregnancy charts, my edd is June 12.
So come on mumsnetters, who else is joining me here?!

I do know people who are getting their 20-wk scans with special consultants automatically because of family history of abnormalities, but thankfully I'm not in that boat. Did you see Twinkie's thread the start of last week about the terrible results of her sister's 20 week scan (please don't read if you're feeling emotional!)? That's why I am still willing to go, in spite of cynicism.

Can I pop into this thread for a minute? I just wanted to say that dd's godmother, whom I've known since she was 7, is expecting her first baby in late June. She told me by handing me her 12wk scan pics and I promptly burst into tears which set her off too!! She says I'll be the baby's surrogate granny - but I'm far too young for that, of course.

Best wishes, everyone.

Hi, scan went really well. I am 12wks and 5 days 1 day out from original estimates. Baby due 17th June. baby was bouncing around quite funny to watch it was just kije watching a baby in a door bouncer the way its little legs curled then straightened. Very active maybe this is why I am so tired!!. Seeing midwife tommorrow so will let them know that I have had scan not sure if they will cancell the one for the 6th Jan as I will only be 16weeks then. Will have to wait and see, if they do I will gewt one as soon as I trf to Aldershot. Picture of scan is really clear, I am so much happier now :0

Hi everyone - my nuchal brought forward to tomorrow. Bit anxious now......

Thought sickness had gone, but boy does it come back at night. How odd. Can be fine all day and then hits me like a brick at night. Threw up my tea last night.

How is everyone else?

Lazyeye - Much sympathy for you! Tiredness makes the nausea much worse apparently. That could be why you feel bad in the evening. HTH.

juelgaz · 11/12/2003 08:10

Hi Lazyeye,
Hope all goes well with your nuchal scan. I had mine 3 weeks ago, so know how anxious you will be feeling
Thinking of you

karen01 · 11/12/2003 09:06

lazyeye, hope the scan goes well.

scampadoodle · 11/12/2003 16:49

Hi everyone...have been quiet because our entire household has been laid low with 'flu! I'd just stopped feeling so sick with pg when WHAM! It's a really nasty virus; hope noone here has had it. This is my first day back at work.
Anyway...had nuchal scan a couple of weeks ago & all seems fine. However, the measurement was 1.9. Does anyone know what at what point it's bad? Ds's measurement was 1mm & it seems a big leap.
I also had a VERY bossy midwife at my booking-in, quite funny really. Will tell you later.

Cavy · 11/12/2003 17:40

I'll swap you if you like, Scampadoodle, my NT reading was 2.1mm; they said that 3mm was the threshold for a 'bad' result. Juelgaz got 0.8mm! I think we should steal her baby... Now if only I could find me a Pixie to do the evil deed.

Sorry, shouldn't joke? I'll be mortified if anything happens to Juelgaz's baby, now.

Very happy to hear about your happy scan, Karen01.

See, that's another one of these girl names that's quite nice, not weird in any way, just out of fashion. I've been collecting them: Rachel, Karen, Jacqueline, Carol/Caroline, Judith, Mary, Diana, Denise, Susan, Helen, Jennifer, Melanie, Lisa, Kelly, Kim(berly), Wendy, Deborah, Maureen, Stephanie, Deanna, Patricia, Claire, Cynthia, Victoria, Nicola, Fiona -- covers most of the girls in my classes at school, really!

Have felt really good all day, but tummy just starting to toss and turn, crawling off to bed, now.

karen01 · 12/12/2003 09:10

Cavy do you think you are having a girl then!!. By this stage with DD I was convinced she was a girl and I was right, this time I am not sure. Most of the time I think little boy, I think this is because DD might not feel as threatened if it is a boy. She is still not v happy re the situation a bit early yet I suppose and she will probably be thinking that I will ignor her once baby comes I think alot of reassurance will go along way!!(hopefully)

Is everyone ready for xmas, I got DD and DH last bits yesterday. wE are going to my mams this weekend to have a sort of xmas day on sunday, as we are flying out to the Dominican Republic on the 21st for 2 weeks, can't wait get some sun.

Hope everyone is ok.

Cavy · 12/12/2003 14:16

Every time I look at the scans I think it's a boy, actually. But girl names are harder to choose from (for me), so I think about them more.

Well, thought I'd finaally add a message here. All is going really well with the pregnancy so far (14 weeks now). All 'normal' as with my fist pg. Haven't posted though because we have ben having hell around here lately . Over the last month we have found out that dh had a tumor on his kidney that most likely cancer. So of course we have been pretty streed. On thursday he had surgery and had the whole kidney removed and is in hospital as we speak. Man, what a week! He is doing great and everything is going to be fine. He doen't need any chemo or radiotherapy, thank God!
And then to top it off dd has been sick the whole time he's been in hospital until yesterday arvo when her temp returned to normal and thought everything was ok - but then this evening she has a rash all over her. I really hope its not something bad. I finnally got her to sleep about 9pm (usually fast asleep by 7.30!). Lets hope she stays asleep all night!!!!
Argghhh - it never rains but it pours eh?
Sorry to go on - just all alone at home now with dh in hospital and all so just wanted to get it out.
I hope all you guys are doing great and babies all growing nicely

juelgaz · 13/12/2003 22:04

Hi cathncait,
What a tough time you are having at the moment. Remember to take care of yourself too. Hope dh continues to make good progress, and dd soon improves.
Take care

Cavy · 14/12/2003 11:11

Wow, Caithncait. So glad to hear your DH seems to have got off lucky.

NCT runs a maternity hire wear scheme -- I went and hired 5 pairs of trousers & a swimsuit for £6, yesterday. I promised the lady I would publicise it; It's such good value because I was going to spend £6 on buying a 2nd hand swimsuit on Ebay that I couldn't even try on before buying! So if any of you ladies need any maternity wear, maybe try to contact your local branch of NCT first!

leander · 16/12/2003 09:14

I hope everyone is feeling ok,Cathncait, sorry to hear of the bad time you have been having hope everything will be ok.I had a bleed yesterday and although the hospital said it is quite common I still feel scared,I've got to go for a scan tomorrow so hopefully that will be ok.I will be 12wks tomorrow and my scan was booked for the 29th Dec .When the doctor was examining me she said my cervix was at the front instead of the back, noone has ever mentioned this before not even when I was having my Ds.Does any one know anything about this?

leander · 17/12/2003 22:13

Well I am sad to say I have to leave this thread today.I went for my scan this afternoon and my baby had no heartbeat,I would have been 12 wks today but my baby measured 8+5 wks,I have had what they call a silent misscarriage no symptoms and am now taking tablets to bring on a proper bleed.
I wish all of you the best of luck.Take care,
Leanderxx

cathncait · 18/12/2003 00:10

Leander I am really sorry to hear that news. I hope you are doing alright. Love to you and your dh/p. Thinking of you. xxx

This is awful, Leander, Secur. I really thought our little group was safely past the 'danger' point. I'm so sorry....

This NCT link says that the chance is only 0.5% of harm to your baby, Secur. I don't know if that's any consolation, but it's not very high, is it?

lazyeye · 23/12/2003 10:01

Thinking of you Leander.

I'm off now for Christmas. You all have a good one and keep safe & see you in the New Year.

Lots of love

Cavy · 31/12/2003 11:38

How are you doing, Secur??? Let us know. I am worried about you.

I hope this doesn't seem insensitive, but I badly want to blather on a bit about being pregnant. That I have a little bump now (16.5 weeks), am moving into maternity clothes, not so sick but still have to lie in a dark room for 14 hours/day or I would be sick. Can no longer stand crisps, chocolate, pizza -- most of my former staples, and am even eating vegetables again.

...Plus lots of bread and butter which seems to have kicked off a mild bout of appendicitus (I am prone to it) and will have to watch closely for fever as do not want to imagine how bad a burst appendix would be in pregnancy. Plus DH has a bad cough which we are both watching nervously because he had pneumonia a few years ago. So it's not all smooth sailing.

Anyway, I hope everyone else checks in, too, with good or bad news.

Anna01 · 03/01/2004 12:20

Hope you don't mind a Joanna-come-lately joining you but I have just re-discovered this website. I'm 37 yrs old prg with # 2 edd 11 June 2004. DD1 is 2.7. I'd better confess now to being a terrible worrier and although I thought I'd be more relaxed this time round I'm actually more worried in some ways cos I had quite a bad nuchal scan back in November. Measurement was 2.9 and my risk of there being problems went up to 1:65. Was so shocked that I had a CVS the next day but all results have come back and so far so good - and I know that it's a boy! Anyway I am very grateful and lucky so far but can't help having a little nagging doubt at the back of my mind that something is wrong (told you I was a worrier!). Has anyone else had a CVS or having amnio? My next scan is on Feb 4 so am a bit nervous about that. Apart from that I am very happy and beginning to get excited now that I can actually feel stirrings within my already expanding tummy (sadly it was big to begin with).

Hope you are all feeling well now and had a good Christmas etc.

Anna
