I thought for sure someone else would have posted this before me! I am 5 weeks along (sounds so insignificant.....) and am seeing my doctor tomorrow to get things going. Am really excited and am hoping that things go well! According to those pregnancy charts, my edd is June 12.
So come on mumsnetters, who else is joining me here?!

Hello,

Another late-comer to the party - hoping you don't mind a gatecrasher too much. Been hanging around for a wee while now so thought it was about time I peeled myself of the wall and joined in.

Anyway I am 33 (well, will be at the end of this month) and expecting #2 on 2nd June, DD is 3.5 and we live in Central Scotland. I work full-time but am hoping to negoatiate a 3 day week after this one.

Due to have 20 week scan on 13th Jan so looking forward to that but don't want to find out the flavour so am hoping that Beanies legs are firmly closed.

Well I hope to get to know you all better as the weeks pass and will leave for now and see if I am brave enough to join in on any of the other threads. (Real reason being that I am studying part-time and should be finishing an assignment this afternoon but I am finding so many 'important' things that I must do right now!)

Take care,

Hi everyone and happy New Year.......its great I don't have to take part in that annual New Year New You mularkey. I'm gonna get fat so not much point or is that the wrong attitude??

Anyway, hope you are all well. I'm now just over 15 weeks. Should I be feeling any movement yet?? I dunno, this is my 3rd, can't rememeber when I felt with other 2..........

Sickness much better, but can still strike to remind me who is boss.

Welcome to the late newcomers....

Hi again,

19 weeks today and still look fat as opposed to pg!! Not fair - although possibly because I was such a tubby to start so shouldn't be too much of a surprise!

Stupid DH has excelled himself this time - came home last night all chuffed as he is due to go to USA next week with work and had managed to arrange flights for late PM on Monday so he could still manage 20 week scan. Except scan is on Tuesday. Stupid man! Don't know whether to go alone or take mum - views?

Anyway, hope you are all well. Take care.

Gomez · 07/01/2004 13:35

Sorry - so rude. Happy Birthday Karen. Have a nice night out with DH.

lazyeye · 07/01/2004 14:16

Anyone out there round about 15-16 weeks? Feeling any flutters yet? This is my 3rd and thought maybe I would have felt something by now.

Am being paranoid as other symptoms beginning to ease - sickness etc........

Cavy · 07/01/2004 14:28

This is my 3rd, too, Lazyeye. I am 17wks+...4 days? Yesterday I had some definite thumps -- the first time I felt like it was definitely the baby.

Welcome to Anna01 & Gomez... I keep thinking I've seen a character in a movie named Gomez. I hope you turn out to be chatterboxes like me.

Secur -- I don't know whether to be delighted or livid for you!

Cavy · 07/01/2004 14:32

I will probably go to 20 week scan by myself, Gomez, unless we can face taking the 2 older children (2yo & 4yo, getting bored, running wild, creating havoc in hospital... er, I don't think so!). But I think it's best to go with somebody, if you can, just in case they have bad news. You wouldn't want to face that alone... and otherwise, it's something fun to share, if you get on with your mum.

Happy Birthday K01 - hope you're having a great day.

Cavy - thanks for the welcome. Hope you don't come to regret my chatter cos I am Mrs Paranoid! Speaking of paranoia, is anyone else really nervous about their anomaly scan (mine's not until 4/2 when I'm 22 wks)? Although I've had a CVS and so have had certain 'problems' ruled out, I've come up with a whole new list to worry about.

Gomez, I agree with Cavy about taking your mum cos it's nice to share the excitement but in the very unlikely case of something being wrong, you'll need a hand to hold...

Lazyeye, I must admit that I felt my first flutters at about 15/16 wks (am now 17+4) but like everything in pregnancy I'm sure there is no 'normal'. My SIL felt her 1st movement with her 2nd at 18 wks. Anyway, for me it hasn't stopped the paranoia, it has just fueled a new strand! I've already started jiggling my tummy (not a pretty sight) and poking it if I haven't felt anything for a while.

lazyeye · 07/01/2004 15:28

Oh God I'm starting to worry now. Maybe I should have felt something by now. To be honest I can't believe this baby can survive all the running around i do. Am convinced am not growing as well..........ho hum. Going to mwife next week so guess will just have to see if she picks up hbeat.

Cavy · 07/01/2004 16:10

Tell you what I get that worries me -- strong menstral-type cramps, sometimes. I know there's nothing they can do at 17 weeks so just have to hope for the best. I am thinking it might be Braxton-Hicks (spelling?) but I never noticed them at all in my previous pregnancies so don't know why they'd be so strong, this time. I think we always find something to worry about.

Gomez · 07/01/2004 16:38

Thanks guys. I was just worried I would look a bit of a 'baby' if I took my mum - how stupid is that? Kinda making a fuss for something that takes about 2 minutes.

As to movements well I 'think' felt first about 3 weeks ago which would make me about 16 weeks at the time but to be honest not too sure. Over the last few days things have perked up a bit so please don't worry I think really any time between 18/20 weeks is about usual. And with #1 I am sure I was well into early 20s before I was feeling anything - but she was pretty static, didn't move too much at all. Every time I went for ante-natal I was put on monitor to check as I was always like em, well I think she's moving but not sure. (Turned out wee scone had a short cord and had just been stuck, getting fat for 40 weeks.)

Cavy, funny you should mention BH - in middle of last night tummy went brick hard, v. strange. I too presumed BH but had none first time around so just guessing. (Made tummy look much more attractive though, less flabby.) Also still getting sharp round ligament pains fairly often - and I was sure they had stopped by this now first time around.

Right back to slowly progressing assigment due tomorrow, 'working' from home today in the faint hope of getting it finished!

Anna01 · 09/01/2004 10:55

Lazyeye - maybe you can't feel anything cos you are rushing round so much?? But I'm sure it won't do you any harm. I've been trying to potty train my DD and so have spent the last few weeks constantly putting her on/taking her off the potty, changing her clothes, clearing up wee and poo, breathing in all those lovely cleaning fluid fumes....(I need an emoticon for a fixed grimace).

Is anyone else's bump beginning to show - I just look like I'm putting on loads of weight which I am sadly! There's that old wives' tale about a girl bump being 'spread out' (which was true, co-incidentally or not, for me 1st time round) and 'upfront' for a boy (which I am having this time round). Can any of you 2nd/3rd/4th time mums confirm or disprove this??

scampadoodle · 09/01/2004 11:36

Hi everyone, & happy new year! Oh, I'm so glad to have a let-out clause on all that january dieting nonsense! Mind, I'm checking out a gym tomorrow for their pilates/yoga classes. tried to do some pilates exercises last saturday but hadn't even finished the warm-ups when a small boy hammered on the door...(dh's excuse: "I was on the loo". Can only manage 1 class a week at the mo but it's better than nothing.
I'll be 19wks tomorrow - 2nd scan a week on monday. Also had letter from hospital re integral blood test: odds of 1 in 47,000! (I'm nearly 39 so I was pretty relieved). Sorry - don't mean to crow, I know some of you haven't been so lucky.
Also, I felt movement on new year's day (I would have been 17wks+5, much earlier than with no 1.

Hello again all,

Had my scan yesterday, took Mum along and everything was tickty boo!

As to bumps/old wives tales and gender : first time around, all bump and DD. This time ssemt o be be spread out with hips & thighs taking a beating. So all that in complete oppostion to the 'norm'.

Hope you are all well.

Take care.

lazyeye · 14/01/2004 14:12

Good news Gomez - was that your anomoly scan.....I bet you can really start looking forward to it now.

Great news Gomez and you're over halfway thru' the pregnancy now aren't you??

I couldn't have taken my mum cos she would have driven everyone mad and probably would have started dusting the monitors or something (she is slightly obsessive about dirt - unlike me!)

Gomez · 15/01/2004 11:31

Thanks for your kind wishes. Mums was overjoyed but doing that 'mum' thing of asking too many questions and generally getting on the radiographers nerves. She was well chuffed actually and I am really pleased that I asked her along - I am sure she got far more out of it than I did. Spent the rest of the day shaking her head and saying 'Amazing. How do they tell?' really loudly.

Didn't ask the sex - neither of us want to know really. Looking forward to the surprise. And it seems really funny to be half-way now! Hey, hey it is really happening.

10th Feb isn't too long to wait really Secur - and if you want to know the sex isn't a little bit later better? Less room for confusion?

Was hoping to get a good picture as we are going to bite the bullet and tell DD this weekend - realy excited about it as I am sure she will be over the moon. Typical little girlee at the mo, right into dollies and things. I am sure she is just about to start stalking babies in the local shopping centre!! You check to see where she is to find her standing with a big silly grin on her face staring at some poor new born in M&S. not convinced she will remain as keen when 'it' is here and disrubting her world - but hey ho!

Anyway best get back to work.
Take care
