Hello new thread

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
gingeme · 02/11/2010 20:24

Hi ladies sorry I haven't been here for a while I have been terribly ill with Hand, foot and mouth disease and its been realy terrible. My big boys were here for the half term which helpd loads to keep the lo's entertained if nothing else Smile. Feeling almost 100% again now and ready for the big bash on Saturday Grin
JKS none of the boys are at school yet and no we are not traveling back and forth to their old school. We got a letter on Saturday to say they havn't been accepted to the two schools we applied for because there is no room Hmm but they are going to send us a list of all the primary, nursery, pre school and mother and toddler groups in this area so we can send some more applications and hopefuly get them in somewhere soon.
The boys are still loving the garden and I noticed yesterday they have made 'smail world' which is a couple of bricks with a couple of plant pots and leaves and sticks and things by the side of the garage. Didnt actualy spot any snails though Confused
Sorry for no personals but my brain is still a bit squishy as were my gums Sad so I'll be off to facebook land now. xx

mixedmamameansbusiness · 03/11/2010 20:16

LaT Sad

I can also easily get on a train to the Colchester vicinity.

Thinking of you all.

JustKeepSparkling · 03/11/2010 20:22

Gingeme - bad luck re schools :( hope you get them in somewhere good soon.
Glad you are feeling better and hope you have a fab party this weekend :)

LaT - luckily kids are incredibly resilient when it comes to Mummies shouting at them. I know how awful it feels, been there, done that. T still seems to be a happy chap who knows he's loved, sure S is the same :) (well a girl obv!)

So a Colchester meet up perhaps? LaT are you there already? did you drive, ie do you have a car?

I could so this Sat or next Sat at the mo (may need to confirm DH's diary). Don't want to get in the way, but it'd be nice to offer some sort of help even if it's only an hour in a cafe to think of something else.

latrucha · 04/11/2010 07:57

I'll have a chat with DH who is driving here on Saturday (yes 'm there). Obviously we don't know what is going to happen in the next few days, butit would belovely to finally meet you snd thanks very much for thinking of it.

I don't know colchester very well these days. Don't have much internet time but will try to have a look what there is.

JustKeepSparkling · 04/11/2010 08:06

Good plan LaT - how is your Dad? and SM?

(here looks possible)

Or i could come up during the week too/instead of, either within sch hours or whenever if i come on wed-fri (Nanny days).

Stinking cold at the mo tbh, am hoping it's on its way out now, have suffered without my usual Day Nurse for a few days so it really should b*gger off now!

simpson · 04/11/2010 11:37

Woo Hoo!!! M did a tiny wee on the toliet at playgroup Grin Grin

Thinking of you LaT.

Will see my dad this w/end so will find out when he is next going to Ipswich.

gingeme · 04/11/2010 13:10

Yay Molly Grin
Thinking of you LaT Sad
We had our first ever fireworks in the garden last night and sparklers too. The boys were so excited and hardly put their fingers in their ears Hmm Theyre bogof in B&Q if anyones buying any for tomorrow. I think Homebase too Smile

simpson · 04/11/2010 14:07

Wonder if Focus have any???

I have looked everywhere near me for sparklers without having to get bus anywhere iyswim.

I wanted to have a few little sparklers in the garden before bed tomorrow. But at least we are at a birthday party tea on Sunday and they will do fireworks

Gingeme - sounds lovely Smile

madmouse · 04/11/2010 15:43

Oh dear I don't check this thread for two days and it explodes!

LaT Sad - why are you so far away girl - I wish I could come over Sad - all I can offer is to be at the other end of the phone/fb whenever it helps to talk.

Can you please try to be patient with yourself? You are doing fine and it is totally normal to be slightly less patient with dcs in the circumstances, you have so much on your plate.

As for what to do all I can say is do not let the money thing stop you from doing what is right. My mum died sooner than expected and I have many regrets.

Ghostfillybusters · 04/11/2010 15:55

Back from Spain and finally caught up with thread....not sure how much I will remember now though....

I can get to Colchester most days during the week LaT so can either liaise with JKS and MM or come on a different day to distract you for a bit? I'll have Mia in tow for sure (although not sure how much of a playmate she will be for Daniel!), and possibly Tamara for Sabela, depending on what day it is. How are you doing? You must be all over the place - don't be too hard on yourself, you're an amazing mum ((((hugs)))). Btw, I emailed you about putting Daniel down for sleeps before I read this thread...

Glad the fireworks went well Gingeme - this is the first year in 18 years we're not having a fireworks party and I'm feeling v :( about it. We've got a friends wedding on Sunday and I don't think its worth having one next weekend as its far too late....How annoying about the schools- hope you get it sorted soon. what are you doing with them during the day at the moment? Or is 'snail world' keeping them busy? We've got looaaaads of snails in my garden (they keep eating everything), you can have all of them if you like :)

Have you had another scan yet Mixedmama? Was so Angry for you about the rude sonographer...please don't worry about it, I'm sure everything is fine - and you looked beautifully pregnant when I saw you, not small at all :)

How you feeling JKS? Glad the appointments went well. Sorry I've not been in touch about visiting, zomehow each day/week/month just disappears without me ever managing to get as much done as I had hoped....

Ari gets about 30-40 mins homework a week, Simpson, plus 2 reading books every night, and some extra Hebrew language reading at weekends. So, quite a lot, but usually managable - at the moment he seems to be enjoying it so its not too much of a chore, but I can see how it could easily ramp up from here. The good thing is that the school set all the homework on Monday, to be returned by Friday, so we can balance out when he does it against swimming, art club, park visits, playdates etc. Great news about Molly - I think we started/stopped and re-started both Ari and Tamara when we did tt, as they just didn't quite get it/care enough the first time, but then did about 2 weeks later Hmm Maybe it just takes them a bit of time to internalise the whole idea?

Spain was nice, not brilliant but good to have a change of scene and there was a reasonable amount of sun. To be honest, that was about all I was hoping for! We had hoped to meet up with MrsMc but she picked up the D&V bug so we gave her a wide berth :) Turns out that travelling with an exclusively bf baby is surprisingly easy, especially now I have finally cracked my fear of feeding in public spaces....lucky as Easyjet and the beath both featured several times!!! Unfortunately Ari was very ill (high fever, bad cough, ear/nose/throat infection) so he and T (who were sharing a room) didn't sleep well.....we were up about 4 times every night and it was never for the baby! Shock So we did come home a bit more tired than when we started....

Right, time to feed Mia...

Lilyloo · 04/11/2010 21:52

Hey ladies popping in to see you all Smile
Don't know what i have been doing with my time but good to see familiar names here.
Will try and catch up and stick around. I know promises promises. Me and the pc have been unattached for too long !

mixedmamameansbusiness · 05/11/2010 12:15

Hello everyone. Have had difficulty finding some fireworks displays round here, but confident the neighbours will probably have some we can watch out of our window. DH is also working till late.

Filly - next date is 16th Feb for the scan so fingers crossed baby is playing ball. The sonographer made it clear that the "big" was me and not the baby and referred to me as fat as did the 12 week sonogrpaher. Just igoring them really.

Shame Spain was so tiring but definitely taking on board about travelling easily with a BF baby, I plan to be in Turkey in the smmer and am hoping that I wont travel with sterilisers etc this time.

LaT - hope you are holding up.

Hello everyone.

latrucha · 05/11/2010 14:34

It has dawned on me that we won't be meeting this Saturday! So, next? It depends on what happens here. No one can give us a clear picture of what to expect but that's something of a blessing. He is dying but
A time frame would just make us all panic.
Not much internet time but I will get back to you.

simpson · 05/11/2010 16:58

For the 2nd day in a row M has asked to go to the toilet and has done a wee on it Smile

It was at her playgroup while I was at a keep fit class.

Pity she won't do it at home Hmm

J got "work of the week" certificate for writing a poem about Autumn

Dcs are staying overnight at my mum's tomorrow so I am off out for the first time in months

LaT - thinking of you...

Fillybuster · 05/11/2010 19:08

Yay Simpson for all 3 things!! Have a great time tonight :)

JustKeepSparkling · 06/11/2010 07:03

Gingeme - Happy Birthday! (at least I know the party is today) I'm sure you'll have a lovely day, hope the party & costumes & cake etc all go swimmingly Grin

JustKeepSparkling · 06/11/2010 07:12

Now for proper post :)

Simps - M is doing so well at playgroup, curious why she's holdaung back at home, are they bribing her? lol!
Well done to J he's such a bright spark.
And have loads of fun on your night out! (would be envious but don't have the energy for nights out anyway!)

Filly - welcome back! I've got a wedding on Sunday too, out on the sticks and i'm driving (obv) with 4 other mums. Luckily 2 have work on Mon so i'm relaly hoping it won't be a late one. Don't fancy getting home in the early hours only to get up with H a few hours later.
I'm feeling pretty good really, low energy levels, easily tired, nothing new really. Achy hips have eased off thankfully, was almost limping for a while and dreading another 24ish weeks!
How is Mia getting on, she must be getting so big now?

Lily - hi :) Often think about your DS (well all of you) and how you are coping without the dog? Have you been brave and got another one?

Mixedm - i think the sonographers are incredibly rude Shock At least the baby seems fine.
How many weeks are you now? I'm 16+6 today :)

LaT - how is your Dad in himself? I think next Sat should be ok, will confirm with DH, prob bring one boy with me rather than 2 :)

mixedmamameansbusiness · 06/11/2010 09:51

Hi all.

LaT I reckon that should be fine with me too. DH is off so need to check what he wants to do - he has moments of lets do family things.

JKS - I actually lose tack a little. I actually just had to google it Blush Anyway I am 23 weeks on Monday. Will have my next scan at 24+1. I havent been able to shift the hip pain and my body seems to seize up if I sit for more than about 2 mins. Getting excite dnow though... feel I can go and start looking at pushchairs and things and getting some ideas.

Gingeme - cannot wait to see pics of the party.

mixedmamameansbusiness · 06/11/2010 09:53

And Simps - well done J. Now that I have joined the world of primary school I must confess to being massively proud of every tiny step. Very impressive to get it for writing a poem too in year 1. Talented little boy.

simpson · 07/11/2010 14:38

I can make Colchester next saturday but not sure if it will fit in timewise as I won't be able to be picked up till 5.30ish as my dad at at footie.

Am a bit delicate today as I did not get in till 4am Blush

Off to a fireworks party in a bit with Dcs...

latrucha · 09/11/2010 15:00

Shall we all try for next Saturday? There's a soft play near (but I don't know how near) the station. I'll ring them asnd see if it's walking distance.

No news here.

latrucha · 09/11/2010 15:06

It is easy walking distance apparently.

here

Fillybuster · 09/11/2010 18:43

Sorry to mention this so early in the year, but (mainly for those with girls) what are your xmas present thoughts for this year? Chanukah is horrendously early this year (5th december) and I've sort-of sorted out Ari's presents (we do medium and small gifts not really big ones) but have drawn a total blank for Tamara...the problem is that she already has all of Ari's old and new toys to play with and there's a limit to how much other stuff she needs/wants/we have room for :)

Ideas please?!

LaT - I've emailed you

simpson · 09/11/2010 20:03

Filly - M is getting a "Stephanie" dress (lazy town) which was bought when Woolies closed...

And basically some Happyland stuff from ELC. I have got her the school house.

Other than that just little things really books (Peppa pig, Ben & Holly) clothes etc...

LaT - are we talking about this coming sat or the next one?

simpson · 09/11/2010 20:11

Forgot to say I don't know if I mentioned it on this thread or on FB but basically M's nursery gave her cheese last tuesday by accident Angry

She has not reacted much to it till friday but she has not stopped pooing since Hmm

We had dietician appt today and during appt (20 mins) she pooed twice Shock so dietician agrees something has to be done

However I was told that M was overweight in last appt a few wks ago so I have marginally cut down portion size of main meal and make her walk more. So now she has lost a bit of weight and cue big panic from dietician Hmm
