whats everyones survival tips??

CaptainDippy · 05/08/2010 11:17

Keep busy - plan ahead - lots of trips here, there and everywhere. Simple craft activities OUTSIDE (we go to the beach with "Sharpies" pens and draw pics on stones and stick googly eyes on them and then leave them on beach for others to find and enjoy ) Cheaps baking sets (you know Barbie cupcakes and the like) Take hoops, skipping ropes and balls everywhere with me

I agree with you cd, lots of planning and things to do(have to be cheap in my house!) We've organised lots of picnics with friends, just hope the weather holds outHmm

I am loving the idea of coming to Eastbourne and finding one of your stones. That might just be an idea for a day outGrin

Helloo btwGrin haven't been on in ages ut do lurk.

Ds has got potty training now, I thought it would never happen but one day he just took himself to the loo. such a relief. I really did think he might be the first boy to start school in nappiesGrin

can't beleive we have to apply for their place at school at the end of the yearShock seems like only yesterday you all kept beating me to give birthAngry Wink Grin

CaptainDippy · 06/08/2010 18:22

Oooooh, do come on over Eddas - would be lovely to see you all!! Grin

StealthPolarBear · 08/08/2010 16:13

Ikwym Eddas I think I can remember posts in their entirety from Spring 2007 and yet our babies go to school in a year :(
I thought we had to apply by mid October - or does it vary from place to place?

Northernlurker · 08/08/2010 16:42

I think it varies - we don't have to apply til February next year. Hopefully dd3 will be going to the same school as the older 2 and so won't start till January 2012.
My tips for surviving summer are: send all children to grandparents for a week, then to holiday club whilst I'm at work then go on family holiday Grin We're off to Scotland next wek - counting down the days....Grin

StealthPolarBear · 08/08/2010 16:48

right - think the deadline for ours is oct half term which does seem early!
Also panicking slightly about holiday clubs for next year - only one I could find was right in the city centre and looked as though it was about to shut down...

oooggs · 08/08/2010 19:54

we apply from mid oct until mid dec then find out end of March. They will had better hopefully go to the same school as ds1

We are off to Filey next week in a caravan - looking forward to it - Not many miles from you NL in comparison to Cornwall!

ScarletBandit · 09/08/2010 13:51

Ffion is already in school here in Wales and will be full time by mid September Shock
She absolutely loves her teachers and enjoys going which is nice Smile

I got home yesterday after a week away in the Isle of Wight. We stayed in a static caravan which was fab. The weather was good most of the time with just a few showers here and there and we have all come back with a bit of a suntan!
Whilst there we came across some lovely holiday cottages which are actually within a working farm. The children can touch the animals and get involved, and they also have some smaller animals (rabbits etc) that can be handled. They sell fresh produce from their farm shop too, and I love that sort of thing!
Consequently I have booked one of the cottages for two weeks next August which is very organised for me, but the owner said that they are already around 80% booked for next summer. Can't wait to go now!! I really am a convert for the British holiday, whereas I used to be a real sun worshipper. Now I am one of those paranoid people who constantly applies sun cream to the children and myself!

The only rubbish part of the holdiay was the fact that I had to find a GP on the Thursday, as I got tonsillitis. I ended up starting antibiotics so I was rough for a couple of days, typical.

Anyway, hope everyone is well. Oooggs, hope you are feeling better about the work thing. There is nothing wrong with being a SAHM, in fact it's harder than a paid job as far as I am concerned. I definitely have tougher days at home than I do in work generally so hats off to you!! Smile

oooggs · 09/08/2010 16:17

cheers mj Smile

love the sounds of those cottages they sound right up my street!!!

ScarletBandit · 10/08/2010 10:28

The cottages are fab oooggs with gorgeous views, but within a short distance of the nearest village so not too far away from civilisation either.
The only rubbish thing about it is that I have to wait a whole year before I can go there!!
I have put a link here if you fancy a nose Smile

oooggs · 12/08/2010 09:04

you know me well mj!!!

WOW Shock LOOK AMAZING Smile

ScarletBandit · 14/08/2010 12:23

Where is everybody? Sad

ScarletBandit · 14/08/2010 20:56

Everyone away on holidays?

ScarletBandit · 15/08/2010 10:05

Eddas · 15/08/2010 15:48

I miss you every day when I come off at junc 4 Grin

Just hada quick skim read, news from our house;

C been toilet trained since before xmas but still nappies during the night.

I went back to work in May, full time. Still have pangs of occasional sadness, but they are pushed out of my head when I see our bank balance... have bought new car (convertible) and booked a cruise for Sept to make up for the guilt. Wink

You should all move to scotland - C wont start school until August 2012 He's at a lovely nursery just now, that he absolutely adores - staffed by grown-ups - all 30's/40'/50's as opposed to a pile of teenagers which is nice.

Apart from that all is well in my world, no plans for any more kids, although we do have a ginger kitten called Rafa.

Love to all.

x

He starts school on 13th Sept, and will be fulltime after a few weeks. Looks v cute in uniformGrin

I've got a new job! 2 mins from the boys school, and can fit it around school day. Lovely people, so I've really fallen on my feet. (Plus money will be very niceWink)

Summer hols have made me realise how much J is growing up. And his appetite - he's eating the same as me (in fact, a few times he has finished my dinner offShock)

Take care all
