Hi all,

Sorry I've not been around for a while, I'll try and read through what I've missed in a minute.

We're still pottering along the same as ever. Tess is still following 25th centile line almost perfectly and weaning has had no effect on it at all. Had her weighed today and she's just under 15lb. We started weaning a couple of weeks ago when she was 23wks as she was really interested in what we were eating (watching intently and making chewing motions) and can sit up unsupported now. She also managed to steal my toast on a couple of mornings and made a lunge at a slice of pizza, which resulted in us both being covered in onion relish! Anyway we're BLWing and it's going really really well. We tried purees first as she wasn't quite 6 months, but she wasn't interested, so we gave her some broccoli instead and she gummed it to death. Since then we've had avocado, carrot, squash, toast, yoghurt, green beans etc etc and she hasn't refused anything at all .

Sleep is another matter entirely and although the daytime naps are going much better now, she still wakes up several times in the night. Some of these are due to wind and I'm sure it's from the new solids, so hopefully that will iron itself out over time [crosses fingers].

Back to work next Monday - not looking forward to it all - but at least she's settling well with the childminder and is finally accepting a bottle (even from me ). She's had a few days with daddy too as he's going to have her two days a week and she seems happy about that as well. Will have to do some prep before I go back, but not sure when... at least I've managed to buy a new suit - priorities !!

Saw there's a FB group - I'll send a request, my initials are KE and my piccy is Tess

LaDiDaDi · 02/06/2010 11:50

Welcome AgaJ .

Ds must be able to roll now as I left him lying on his back this morning and when I came back in he was on his tummy!

Keep feeling broody ! I think it's just with ds clearly not being a tiny little baby any more and thinking about starting to stop bf that's got me thinking like this but I do think I's like another one day. Persuading dp might be a different matter though, when we were out on Friday night a group of the blokes were all standing around together and stopped talking when I cam along, when I asked what they'd been chatting about one of them sheepishly said, "oh nothing really, just vasectomies ".

Going to have a picnic today then I'm going with my mum to th hospital to have a meeting with the consultant about my gran.

Dp still hasn't booked a flight, as advised by his psychologist, and a group of our friends are all going off on hols on Sat . Feel like we won't get a holiday this year, makes me feel really sad and angry and selfish.

sparklycheerymummy · 02/06/2010 17:01

Ladidadi....was wondering who might be the first on here to start again!!!!! Dp has said no more for us but who knows . Cricked my neck at 5am this morning and rather than ds resettling till 6 ish he woke up with a big smile when daddy unusually went in to him!!! Am in agony now and cant turn my head to the left at all!!!!!! Took some codeine phosphate this morning and felt drunk and sick so didnt drive.....well i couldnt with my neck anyway!!!!

dd being a start....loads of positive reinforcement has sorted out the wetting pants and lying!!!!

Ds is fab....sleeping well and eating well.... though lunch tends to just be a small meal....he is both having mashed and lumpy stuff plus bits of finger food to gum so he is getting nicely full but also having a go himself!!! He is almost crawling and can sit up but still doesnt roll from front to back so gets fed up after a while!!!! strange how they do one thing but not another!!!

Go on holiday to Lochgoilhead in Scotland on Saturday to a beautiful lodge cottage by the water. i have a gorgeous image in my head of me drinking wine on the balcony etc.... knowing me it will rain!!!!

Havent posted much as i said i was being watched with how much i go on here and also i am feeling a bit low and as if i have nothing interesting to tell anyone!!!!! LOL!!!!

AgaJ · 02/06/2010 20:11

OMG ur babies r already crawling, sitting unsupported, eating finger foods.... Is my developing too slow? I tried some solids, tiny bit of carrot, apple, banana but she's getting constipated n doesn't look like she's ready for that step yet. She did like baby rice though, bleee!

sparklycheerymummy · 02/06/2010 20:15

i am a bit surprised at ds as dd was not so quick off the physical mark but she was developing her brain thats all......dd didnt roll till she was 26 weeks yet ds has been doing it since 17 weeks..... he is such a big boy he seems older....24lb at 24 weeks..... they are all so different but none of his little friends are quite like him.....some sit but dont roll, some roll one way but not the other etc etc i wish he would slow down as i feel my baby has already grown up and lets face it they all do the same in the end!!! I hope i didnt sound like i was showing off .....i am just surprised by him.

AmazingBouncingFerret · 02/06/2010 20:24

Sparkly, We went to Lochgoilhead last year! One of those "A" frame lodges overlooking the loch and the mountains. Absolute heaven. So secluded and a lovely area. Check out Inverary, they have an old boat docked there that you can look around plus there is the old jail which is fun, Jake really enjoyed being "locked up" by the jailer!
Hope you have a good time.

AgaJ Dont worry! Elizabeth has only ever rolled once, definitely not crawling yet and can only sit up if very firmly propped. I havent started her on finger foods yet (wont do till she's sitting unaided)
She is very vocal though and can already mimic me and makes sounds like hello when I say it to her!
Jake (my three year old) was the complete opposite, was rolling at 3 months, crawling at 6 months and eating curries and pickled onions (not together obviously!) by the time he was 9 months, yet he hardly said a word until he was just over 2 years old.
Im sure youve heard it all before but they really are all different and she'll soon pick it up!

AlCrowley · 02/06/2010 20:25

Sparkly, if you're feeling low then you must come and tell us how you are!! We're all here for you if you need us. Don't feel lonely.

Put Catherine down for her first sleep in her own room tonight. I wanted to wait until she was properly 6 months old in 2 weeks time but DH was desperate to move her. I think he's getting fed up of having to sneak out of our room in the morning and get dressed in the bathroom to avoid disturbing her. He thinks that its the crib that's making her wake so often too (3 times last night!) as she is big enough now to catch her hands on the sides if she moves in her sleep and it rattles a little against the locks when she moves too (it's a rocking crib with pegs that hold it still if you want) So we're trying it. It'll be nice to have our room back to ourselves I suppose - maybe it might even help our sex life The thought of disturbing her just doesn't seem worth it most of the time!

We're up to 2 meals a day now too. Still purees mostly as I haven't had time to read the BLW book but with the odd thing to chew too. She hates everything but apple puree and chunks of cucumber but I'm persevering. Got lots of mush in the fridge waiting for her.

AmazingBouncingFerret · 02/06/2010 20:26

BTW Enjoy your wine on the balcony, I couldnt indulge was pregnant at the time!!
Did have a nice BBQ on the balcony though!

sparklycheerymummy · 02/06/2010 20:40

Yes ABF thats where we are going....cant wait!!!! Will make a note of Inverary. Not looking forward to a 6 hour journey but dp has promised his mum....who is coming with us...that he is doing all the cooking and washing up (there is a dishwasher LOL) so in theory i should just do ds, dd and hopefully have some time for me me me!!!!!!! dd was a fab talker but a late walker!!!! I love chatting at baby group about the different things we are all doing and what the babies are up to!!!!!! one mum told me about how she takes an ounce less water in her bottles when she is out and a small flask.....and just tops the bottle up with boiling water from flask and hey presto no waiting.....but another mum is happy to pop bottles in a measuring jug of boiling water and wait ( her baby is very placid!!!) All different xx

sparklycheerymummy · 02/06/2010 20:51

AlCrowlwy.....I am up and down, stopping bf on the 12th june.....will see how my hormones go then. am losing weight though so hoping that makes me feel good!!!! ds is growing up so quick, he is my last......and am still disappointed that dp has let me down.....i have managed i think to not get depressed but still feel the baby part of my life is unfinished because i havent had that 'togetherness' with dp!

AmazingBouncingFerret · 02/06/2010 21:09

Just been trying to remember places we went when we were there Sparkly. Everywhere was a bugger to get to because of all the lochs!

One of the places id recommend, Jake loved looking around it and still talks about the chickens is Auchindrain. It's an open air village museum thingy. Looked straight out of Braveheart and the woman there was really friendly. (plus it was free!)

sparklycheerymummy · 02/06/2010 21:23

Thanks ....just made a not of that one too!!!

EthelredOnAGoodDay · 02/06/2010 22:30

Hi all. Hope you are all ok. Sparkly, hope you have a lovely time in Scotland; it sounds like bliss!
AlCrowley, hope it goes well with Catherine in her own room tonight; fingers crosed for you.

Went to see sex and the city today at the local cinema's mum and baby screening. All was fine apart from one bit, when samantha (the nympho one) was going at it hammer and tongs with some bloke and anna was having a really good look...eeek! Tried to turn her round but she still kept looking. Hope she's not scarred for life!

Have got a busy few days coming up. Got a friend coming tomorrow with her teenage girls, then off into work on friday to speak to my manager about return to work

Then Saturday, am off for a day at a spa! Yipppeeeeee! Am so looking forward to having a relaxing pamper day! Hoping it will be fab!

Hope you are all keeping well and enjoying some nice weather.

AgaJ · 02/06/2010 22:59

Uuuu I love Scotland! Please please tell me where is it u r going to? We were planning to go away, somewhere not too far, for few days in September. Next month off to Portugal, can't wait!!!

AlCrowley · 03/06/2010 08:26

Well, first night in the cot went well. No issues settling but then she's been napping in there for a week now and playing in there for months (the mobile keeps her amused while I get dressed)

She went down at 7, woke at 11.30 for her usual feed. Woke at 1am as she'd rolled into the bars so I fed and resettled her then she woke at 5.45 for another feed. I was greeted by a huge grin when I went in to fetch her and she was wide awake! She settled in our bed after another feed though so I got a little more sleep.

Once we've been weaning for a little longer, I'm going to try to drop at least one of the night feeds. I need a whole nights sleep sometime soon!! DS slept from 7 till 7 from about 10 weeks so it was sods law Catherine would be more difficult.

We're off to Portugal next month too AgaJ. We fly out on the 27th

Claire236 · 03/06/2010 08:33

Jealous of all the holidays. As we live in Germany all our holiday time (& money) seems to be spent on going back to England visiting. Going to have to get away even if it's just to visit friends in Naples for a long weekend.

sparkly - lovely to hear from you. Enjoy your holiday.

Had a very excited ds1 yesterday. We bought him a new bike without stabilisers & he rode it all on his own for the first time. He was so happy it brought a tear to my eye. Put a video on facebook & phoned my parents for him to tell them. Generally got totally overexcited about the whole thing.

Ethelred - enjoy the spa. Sounds lovely. I'm back at work Monday. It's depressing even thinking about it.

Elizabeth is poorly. She keeps tuggin at her ears and crying so either ear infection or teeth.
She grizzled for a feed last night for the first time since we got back off holiday. It's suprising how you soon get used to having full nights sleep and then when it gets interupted it's even worse than if it's every night! I feel so groggy this morning.
Jake and Elizabeth both have injections this morning, soooooo not looking forward to that Might put Elizabeths off for the week though.

DH was a pain this morning. He overslept so took it out on me, plus we had no milk so he said we would have to do without, to which I replied that I'll go to my sisters and have breakfast but dont expect anything done round the house because im not dragging the kids out first thing and then back again just to go out for their boosters later on! So he moaned about that. He then left without even mentioning anything about Jakes boosters.
Grrr I put it down to work, he keeps taking on more and more projects to earn the bonus' and the overtime so we can move into a decent-sized house in a good area, I know it'll be worth it in the end but it's hardgoing. Too much stress!! I sometimes feel he thinks I should do more to help towards the saving but tbh it about kills me just to do 14 hours a week plus the getting Jake to childminder, no idea how bad it's going to be getting both of them ready when I do go back to work! I can feel myself getting worked up now. Shall think calm serene thoughts and go and make stupid jokes on the AIBU threads to calm myself down!

AgaJ · 03/06/2010 09:45

AlCrowley our babies born d same day, we r both going to Portugal next month... What else we have in common;)) i'm going on 4 July to Lisbon to visit my inlaws. My DH is Portuguese so summer we go there for hols n I'm Polish so winter we go skying to Poland. So it's never like proper holidays, it's always visiting family

amazingBouncingFerret sorry to here about ur DD being poorly n last thing uwe want then is annoying DH;)

Klerka · 03/06/2010 10:20

Morning all,
ABF - sorry your DD is poorly

Al - Glad the first night in her room went ok... we are going to do that very soon... need organise her room again as I do seem to turn it into a laundry room if I'm not tidy enough

Weaning going ok here - it depends on what we are doing and what DH is working at the moment as I like her to get the idea of us sitting together. She is getting the hang of getting things into her mouth - sweet potato is a hit and she smears it all over. Broccoli was a hit last night too.

DH told me his rota for next week and it's all nights i.e. 4pm - close (which can mean as late as 3am). Yes, he has the day time off but of course is tired and sleeps til midday, he'll come to bed at about 3-4am and I can be up as early as 5am with DD. So the next time he will be home for her bedtime will be a week today. It's so annoying. I asked him what bright spark wrote the rota and of course it was the single guy with no children... I totally understand the need for those shifts (it's a restaurant!) but ALL week, why not mix them up with some day shifts too?!? Sorry...

On a nice note, my antenatal class friend asked if DD and I would like a couple of nights away with her and her DS at their holiday house in Suffolk by the coast whilst the DH's work... so we are going for a couple of nights at the end of the month - whilst DD still fits in her Moses basket which is portable! Really looking forward to that now!

LaDiDaDi · 03/06/2010 11:15

Loads going on here!

Have a lovely time in Scotland sparkly, sorry to hear that you have been feeling a bit low.

Enjoy your spa day on Saturday, Ethelred. Very , I love a nice massage.

Pleased that you had a good night with Catherine in the cot, Al. Now that ds is rolling and almost filling his basket I'm thinking about putting him in his cot, at least to start the night. Hoping that when he starts solids and formula then he might sleep a bit better too.

Claire, well done to your ds1. He must feel really proud of himself. I keep forgetting that you are in Germany.

Hope Elizabeth is feeling better today ABF.

Your dh has horrid shifts Klerka, one of the many things that I'm not looking forward too about going back to work is the shifts. I keep thinking about how nice it would be to be off work for longer/not go back at all and this is totally not me, I've always worked ft, long hours and loved my job. Last mat. leave I was bored and wanted to go back!

Claire236 · 03/06/2010 13:42

ABF - poor dd. Hope she feels better soon.

dh used to work shifts. Before we had the boys but it was still a total pain. He used to do 5-5 either am to pm or vice versa.

LaDiDaDi - I wanted to get back to work after my last mat leave. Was itching to get back by the end of my 26 weeks. Not sure why I feel so different this time as I still have a job I love. I think part of it is knowing this is the last time. No more babies, no more mat leave, just constant work from now until retirement. Sigh

ds2 loves fruit pastille lollies. He had a try of dhs & was slurping & chomping away like a good un. I don't know if part of it was because it was helping his teeth being so cold.

I'm back! Had a lovely time at the wedding and on holiday. Imogen didn't sleep any better - still waking up every 3 hours (sometimes 2.5!) at night. Tried just soothing her, but the only thing that will settle her was a quick feed then back to bed so ended up just doing that so we could get some sleep most nights!!! Now we're back home, hoping things will settle down and improve, but we will see.

We've also started blw this week - going well, although difficult as we weren't at home. Toast has gone down a treat at breakfast but tried lots of things - brocoli, asparagus, sweet potato, butternut squash, cucumber, tomato, melon, mango, banana, cheese and humous! I am so paranoid about her choking though so have to make myself stay calm all the time... Glad to hear it's going well for you too Klerka. Bex have you started yet?

ABF - sorry your dd is poorly, hope it's just teeth and they appear soon.

Al - glad you had a good night with Catherine in her cot and hope you get lots more sleep!

Ethelred - I'm also of your spa day on Saturday!

LaDiDaDi - yay on the rolling, Imogen still refuses to roll onto her tummy!

Claire - enjoy your last few days, are you going back full time?

Sparkly - enjoy your holiday!

Welcome Aga!

Hope I haven't missed anything or anyone...!!!

EthelredOnAGoodDay · 03/06/2010 21:09

Hi Hendo, glad you had a good hol. No still not started BLW yet. Still not got the bloody highchair! Am hoping to start after next weekend...ie, week on Monday I guess.

Klerka, little hol sounds fab!

hendo77 · 03/06/2010 21:39

Sry got confused with name changes!!! Going to try and put a picture of Imogen eating on my mn profile now...
