I've been thinking about this... I reckon it should be 'Gumbles' as they're the nice ones

"Bottersnikes have green, wrinkly skin, cheese-grater noses and long pointed ears that go red when they're angry (which is most of the time) Gumbles, on the other hand, are cheerful and friendly and can be squashed into any shape without being hurt at all"

Although the Bottersnikes do live in a "rubbish dump home" which does sound like this place some days

hendo77 · 28/05/2010 17:25

Gumbles it is! have a lovely weekend all...

BexJ78 · 28/05/2010 22:57

Hi all

Had a good b'day thanks. Glad to hear you did too GS Gumbles! Had NCT ladies, plus a couple of other mates wth babies over yest afternoon and we had sandwiches and cake and pretend wine...oooh we know how to live! Then DH got home from work at 4.30, which in itself is pretty remarkable, and had brought an M&S tea for us. Was yummy!

Anyway, present-wise, got mainly money, but also some chunky jewellery from DH and perfume and a big Cath Kidston canvas bag from my DB and his GF. Am having a spa day next weekend with the money, plus have bought some nice shoes for the christening, so that will use up some of my dosh!

Then today, went out to Strada for lunch and for a bit of a mooch about town, which was nice. All in all have had a good couple of days.

Annie, hope you have a fab time in Edinburgh for your b'day. Bet it will be lovely!

Am also contermplating a name change. Will let you know when I come up with something that no one else has!

Hope you all have great weekends!

EthelredOnAGoodDay · 28/05/2010 23:06

And like that, as if by magic, I have a new name! Spk soon! (Bexj78, in a previous life!!)

hendo77 · 28/05/2010 23:10

Right, Ethelred, got that one too.

No one else is allowed to change their name in the next week, or else I'll come back and not know anyone!!!

EthelredOnAGoodDay · 28/05/2010 23:16

Have a good hol Hendo. Where are you going again?

hendo77 · 28/05/2010 23:28

Thank you! Just down to Swanage area - nothing very exciting, but we have a wedding and lots of friends will be around there this weekend and then we're going to stay for the week providing Imogen behaves herself!!!

EthelredOnAGoodDay · 28/05/2010 23:35

Sounds great! Have a fab time. We're off visiting too this weekend, althought so somewhere slightly less exotic (Barnsley! ) We are off to watch a play being performed by friends in my old (amateur) theatre company, so should be fun, and have friends baby sitting so having an Anna-free night!
Anyway, enjoy. Better get to bed!

LaDiDaDi · 29/05/2010 09:58

It's a good job that I've logged on today, any later and I wouldn't have been able to keep up with all of these name changes!

Hope that everyone has a nice weekend and I'm pleased that the birthday girls had a good day on Thursday. We were out at a party last night, took ds with us, and saw some people we hadn't seen for ages which was nice.

Saw Pink in Cologne last night which was totally amazing. Paolo Nutini was one of the 4 support acts. Took 2 hours to get clear of the car park though which meant it was nearly 2am by the time we got home.

Hope everyone's doing ok as haven't had time for a proper thread catch up.

Have namechanged again

Was checking out Christian Mumsnet and needed something appropriate. AleisterCrowly was already taken over here.

It's GoldenSnitch/Gumbles by the way.

We've had a house-full today as my family came up/down for a birthday celebration. They've all gone home now and the house is a tip really quiet now.

Hoping for another night like last night. Catherine woke at 1.30am and 7am rather than her usual 12.30, 4am and 7am. Felt so rested this morning. I really needed the sleep too as I ran my first organised 5k yesterday. They do one every week at the local park. It's all marked out with distance markers and they keep a track of your times and personal bests online so you can see how your training is going. Running with others seemed to help too as I did 5k 5 minutes faster than I usually do running alone.

Bit worried about WW weigh in tomorrow as Thursday and today have been quite high calorie days. Should still have lost some weight. Hope I'm not too far off the 1kg I'm aiming for. Had lost 1 and a bit by Thursday so I can afford to have gained a little.

Hope everyone is well

LaDiDaDi · 31/05/2010 11:39

Well done GS/Al! That run sounds really well organised, should be very motivating to keep doing it and well done on your time .
My house is a tip without the excuse of visitors!

AmazingBouncingFerret · 31/05/2010 11:42

Gah I want to dye my hair but now have a sleeping baby on my lap.
If I lay her down she will most definitely wake.

How is everyone??

AlCrowley · 31/05/2010 12:11

Whoop whoop! Just weighed in - Monday is my day - and even with our meal out on Thursday and all the food yesterday I've lost another 1kg!!

Means I've put on a little since Thursday morning but 1k was my target so I'm OK with it.

Need to keep it up though.

Right, off to bother people for sponsorship for my 10k Race for Life on Sunday!!

I'm confusing people with these name changes now aren't I!

Christian Mumsnet has been closed down now so I might swap back soon. Been missing Goldensnitch too

EthelredOnAGoodDay · 01/06/2010 10:55

Hi everyone. Glad you all had fun at the weekend. We had a great time in South Yorkshire and then decided at the last minute that we would go up to DH's folks for one night, so we drove up to Cumbria and suprised them! Was actually a really nice weeknd.

The Ethelred thing comes from when I was a teenager, and i was never ready on time for anything, my parents used to call me Ethelred-as in Ethelred The Unready (in his case unready actually meant badly advised...but my parents thought it was too funny to let a small thing like the actual meaning get in the way ) Anyway, as i appear now to be back at a point in my life when I am rarely ready on time, thought it might be appopriate again!

Claire236 · 01/06/2010 12:56

Had a proper thread catch up having dropped my friend off at the airport last night. Seeing her always reminds me how much I miss her. I'll be seeing my pregnant sister & my niece in 2 weeks time & you can guarantee there will be tears when we say goodbye.

Annie - I must admit I don't like going to the hygienist as I always feel like I'm drowning & it's usually painful at some point but the results are well worth it.

Hendo - I love that photo of ds2. They're his babybanz he's wearing.

Lee - I'll be back at work Monday (7th). Glad you got your night out.

GS - you're totally confusing me but I'm easily confused. Well done on the weight loss & running. Can I borrow some of your willpower please.

ds2 had his first settling in session at nursery this morning. It was only 2 hours but walking away & leaving him was not good. Then I got in the car with ds1 who said he missed his baby brother which nearly set me off. So much for him distracting me from missing ds2. I really don't want to leave ds2. Have to, no point dwelling on it, get a hold of yourself woman.

Love the photo Claire. Have added one of Catherine in her babybanz too

Willpower failed last night and Dominos was ordered Trying to be good today. Hoping for a run tonight but DH is going to be late home as he has to go past his sisters house and pick up her Veg box as she's on holiday. Why she doesn't just cancel them I have no idea! We got our first box this week so I could have some extra veg for Catherine so now I'll have two!!!

Had planned to do BLW but decided to start with mush because we started weaning at 5 months instead of 6. Now she's only a week or so off 6 months and I haven't even read the book yet Been giving her lumps of cucumber or banana or melon in her net thing while we have our lunch but I'm not sure that's enough.

LaDiDaDi · 01/06/2010 16:40

Posted my application for flexible working today! Can't believe that I'll be going back part time .

Going to start to introduce ff when I wean at 26 weeks but I'm not sure how best to do it so that ds gets used to it and so that, hopefully, I get more space between feeds without getting horribly engorged. Think that I'll start to offer it at/after meal times and maybe in the evening too?? Assuming that he'll drink it of course...[hopeful emoticon].

I've notice ds getting very cross/frustrated with his little toys over the past few weeks, yelling away if he can't manipulate them the way he wants, hope I'm not going to be dealing with another child as wilful as his sister is!

madmissy · 01/06/2010 19:41

Hi all how we all getting on!?

Can't believe DS nearly 6 months!

Pretty much sits alone now no teeth though

AgaJ · 01/06/2010 19:53

Hi mums! Can I join in? Im new to MN n it took me a while to find threads I could relate to. Well, my DD was born on 17 dec 09. It's May already n she's growing so fast. We were just saying with my DH today that only 3 months ago she was like a 'vegetable'... (Very loud one!!!)Meaning she couldn't do or understand anything. N now she's laughting out loud, twisting n turning all d time, sitting.... It's fascinating to watch her growing n developing!

AmazingBouncingFerret · 01/06/2010 19:55

Hello AgaJ welcome to the thread.

AlCrowley · 01/06/2010 20:16

Same birthday as my little girl!

Welcome AgaJ
