Starting new thread before we run out of room. Now to link from the old one. Could be interesting

Stick with us Sparkly Nothing but support here.

I try to give DS water in the main but when he was poorly and wouldn't drink, I ended up bribing him with squash and we've never really gotten out of the habit. Can't blame him, I hardly ever drink water myself I did find a little while ago that if I put ice cubes in water it's suddenly a lot more interesting. He'll drink tonnes of water so long as it has ice cubes in it!

Not surprised you were mad at your DH LaDiDaDi!! I hope you gave him a slap with that spare hand I can't drink wine while I feed, I tried it a couple of times at Christmas and it just gave me a raging headache. Have been desperately fancying some Baileys recently though, might have to give that a go instead.

hendo77 · 11/05/2010 14:11

I'm impressed anyone can do anything other than bf - I ned two hands for that and to be sitting down so am impressed on many, many counts LaDiDaDi!

I think I've only ever posted one other thread, but it was more a what do you wish you'd been told about bf thread so not really a discussion. I have thought about it, but seeing as it took me months and months of lurking on these threads before posting 6 threads in I'm not sure I'll ever be brave enough, or feel qualified enough this being my first baby!

sparklycheerymummy · 11/05/2010 14:36

hendo - everyones experiences are valuable to our chit chats and to other debates whether its your first or 100th!!!! i ended up in a clash with a woman about bf the other week and she hadnt given birth to her first yet.....yet she felt qualified to discuss how you must must bf your baby till 6 months exclusively etc!!!!!!! my dd is 8 and ds is 5 months so there is one hell of an age gap and everything has changed since then....it was weaning at 4 months and i didnt feel at all stressed or guilty about not bf from day 3.

LaDiDaDi · 11/05/2010 14:54

I'm waiting impatiently for asda delivery to arrive.

I think that having relatively small breasts and baby helps with the one handed bf. 32 d and ds is still only about 13lbs.

LaDiDaDi · 11/05/2010 15:21

Just got dd's duvet out of the tumble drier and it is singed !

Still waiting for asda, taps foot impatiently...Yay, here they are!

Klerka · 11/05/2010 15:37

I CAN SEE IT!!!

Sorry - bad typing, one handed... holding Holly as she got upset quickly... had another look in her mouth and I can see the first tooth... it's cutting!!! Bless her.

hendo77 · 11/05/2010 15:40

woohoo! where? which tooth?

hendo77 · 11/05/2010 15:41

obviously the answer to where is in her mouth!!! duh!!! this is why I don't post anywhere else...

Klerka · 11/05/2010 15:49

I thought I could see something white the other day... I am sure that's what I am seeing... it's white but looks funny... must be!

I just fed her to calm her and now I am convinced I could feel it on my nipple... probably mind over matter!

It's her bottom left - so right as I look at her... could be unrelated but she has what looks like a spot on her chin on that side too today.

hendo77 · 11/05/2010 16:11

Imogen has taken to gnawing one one side rather than just stuffing thing in her mouth so I keep checking on that side in particular but she just giggles and pokes her tongue in the way mostly!!! I read somewhere that the front ones come through first so then I thought I must just be imagining it...

Dh has gone away with work until Saturday morning - I already have that OMG feeling of what I am going to do until he comes back, but think I have just about planned lots of activities this week now! Please let her go to sleep easily tonight...

sparklycheerymummy · 11/05/2010 16:18

i have just ordered 2 more baby einstein dvds...... please tell me i am not a bad bad mother..... its just so cute when ds giggles at the drumming bear and the weird green sock puppet. have got hte baby mozart, van gogh and neighbourhood animals ones now!!!

Klerka · 11/05/2010 16:21

I read that it's more likely that the bottom front two came through first. The more I think about it - of course it's a tooth I can see... I suppose it looks less to the middle of the front of her mouth if you see what I mean, i.e. the milk teeth are spread out - not like ours ... what else could be white and just under the gum!

Bless her though, she's been very good natured about it - what with me trying to clear her nose and look in her mouth - plus overdid the beans in my homemade soup yesterday so her tummy is a bit windy! It is hard to have a look Hendo - they tend to stick their tongues out don't they.

LaDiDaDi - as we are discussing posting on other threads - did you ever figure who that man was you saw in the restaurant? I did have a think for you but came up with nowt.

LaDiDaDi · 11/05/2010 16:24

No Klerka, I didn't work it out. Told the story to another friend who said it was the worst celeb spot she'd ever heard lol. I'm sure I'll spot him on tv one day.

Klerka · 11/05/2010 16:27

Sparkly - I haven't seen any of the Einstein DVD's - they must be good... I will check them out when I go town tomorrow. Do you put put them on and let them play through - i.e. is it one show or a choice?

The reason I ask is that I must have tidied the DVD remote control up with the newspapers and subsequently put it out with the recycling as I can't find it anywhere - so watching a DVD is a pain - as it's a cheepo player - no chance to forward through chapters etc. Hence we haven't watched a film in a while - either DH or I always have to get up and move away from the telly and then miss the film as we can't pause it!

hendo77 · 11/05/2010 16:31

sparkly you are definitely not a bad mother - we bought the mozart one at the weekend and Imogen also giggles and the drumming bear and green sock puppet and also the baby!!! I think we might get the animals one, but going to check with a friend first. I babysat for them and they had this great music DVD with animals on it and we watched it and their son did all the animal noises before he could talk and loved it!

Woohoo! Just got a phone call to say they have finished decorating my house (they thought they might have to come again in the morning) so that means I can stop having to hang around my parents house or find things to do all day every day and go back to bed during morning naps (they are the only naps that tend to happen consistently every day!).

Klerka · 11/05/2010 16:35

LaDiDaDi - I wouldn't say a bad celeb spot - just really hard to explain to other people! Things like that really bug me - let me know when you get it.

I go through phases of posting on all sorts of subjects, get shouted at one too many times & then come scuttling back here. I was v proud of myself a while back for starting a thread about circumcision which ended up not being as nasty as I expected.

sparkly - I did see you on an ff/bf thread recently where you seemed to be getting upset. Tried to back you up but the thread was moving too fast for me to keep up. There are some total bitches on those threads.

Personally I'm impressed that so many on this thread are still bf. Be it mixed or exclusive I think you're all great & wish I could have done the same.

Used to have a Baby Einstein DVD. Will have to look it out.

Had some of my Next order arrive today with 6-9 month summer stuff in for ds2. It all looks huge but as he's 6 months in 2 weeks time I figure that's the size I need to get through the summer. Feels more like winter at the moment mind you.

Got a friend visiting in 2 weeks who hasn't met ds2 yet. Going to see Pink in a few weeks time too. Then got Bon Jovi in the UK a few weeks after that so will get to catch up with family & friends while we're over. Going back to work in the middle of all that but trying not to think about that minor detail.

Just had a totally blonde moment & put ds1 to bed 30 mins earlier than usual. Totally by accident. Looked at the clock & thought it was his bedtime then came downstairs having put him to bed & couldn't work out why the Simpsons was still on (ds1 usually watches it then goes to bed)

sparklycheerymummy · 11/05/2010 18:44

i have just let ds nap while at m friends house cos couldnt hear my friend talk so now will be up later......but may sleep in in the morning?????? (am hopeful)

Claire......i do get upset when i am trying to make a balanced point and respect that people do things differently. some people read so called facts and research and think its the gospel rather than using their nonces and doing what is right for their very individual babies!!!!! my hv told me i had done the right thing weaning as ds would have been taking in too many calories just having milk trying to satisfy his huge appetite so giving him fruit and veg and a bit of baby cereal is actually better as he is not putting on TOO much weight. also she said that large quantities of bm are not ideal as it is lighter in the tummy therefore more esil puked up and ds reflux is def worse with bm....so formula was fine as it stayed down. i sometimes wonder if i should have ff from beg but i didnt and he put on weight so i kept going but the puking and wet patches on my clothes have got me down at times....never mind yummy mummy.....pukey mummy more like it. Basically my viewpoint on weaning and feeding is......just dont let your baby starve.....if they are happu then whatever if fine. grrrrrrrr at the nasty judgemental harsh opinionated people!!!!!! LOL I do get upset as i do feel generally that i dont get listened to.....had cognitive behaviour therapy and it seems its an issue i carry form my upbringing. so when people on THOSE threads shout me down i get touchy ....even though i know that that is what this site is sort of for!!!!

as for clothes ..... we are now in 9-12 month sleepsuits but are on top lines for height and weight bless him...../thank the lord for cheap clothes bundles on ebay!!!

sorry i have gone on...... very very emotional.....problems with dp which i cant face going into but am defo getting low and am panicking its PND. keep crying, having anxiety attacks and allsorts. i so so dont want to be on meds as it took years for me to get off them.its easy to sound so happy and in control on here when thats what you really wish you were!!!!!! xxxxxx

sparklycheerymummy · 11/05/2010 18:46

esil.....easily
happu.....happy

Klerka · 11/05/2010 19:08

Sparkly - sorry you are feeling so emotional and a bit down... we are all here to listen anytime... and it you're not "going on"

GoldenSnitch · 11/05/2010 19:52

As I said earlier Sparkly - there's lots of support for you here. We're all here to listen no matter what you want to talk about. Don't feel like you need to cope alone.
