Thought I'd start a Post-Natal thread as there are so many of us now sorry about the uninspired name.
Well I am slowly realising the sleepless nights thing is no myth - VERY tired!

Happy New Year and congratulations Princess!

Back later for a proper catch up as H is now crawling and is on mission room destruction!

stinkypinky · 03/01/2011 13:43

Congratulations princess I must admit I thought you were - cannot say why though - just a hunch. If I were younger I would have a few more Grin

Hope you are soon well Mistymoo, and your loved ones.

Boo is a little biter (ouch!) now, so I am just feeding morning and night, as daytime feeds were beyond a joke - she mostly behaves with the two remaining feeds as she is hungry/tired. She is having 2 bottles of formula in day, as expressing was getting too much for me - I managed for 2 months at work, and she is 8 months now, so do not feel too bad about it. 2 months without any proper rest breaks was very tough.

Had I known what a faff bottles are now though... everything has changed since I had Asha 4 years ago.

Happy New Year all x

harverina · 03/01/2011 18:22

HI everyone,

Stinky, Eilidh has bitten me a few times but nothing too severe yet Hmm! Well done for lasting 8 weeks expressing. It mustve been tough for you and a huge pressure. You'll probably be feeling more relieved that the pressure is off?

We had a better night of sleep last night. Eilidh in bed at 6.45pm, back up at 7.45pm (just as I had sat down with a chinese meal Angry!). I fed her but she was really upset. Felt that she was hungry so gave her a bowl of porridge which she devoured. She almost inhaled the bowl! I think that she is going through a growth spurt. After the porridge she fed on me for a couple of minutes then went to bed. She slept till 3am, up for a feed (both sides, she really is hungry!) then back to bed till 7.30am. So a much better night than the night before when we were up from 4am Sad

Hi Neeko!

ilovesprouts · 03/01/2011 18:54

harverina · 03/01/2011 21:13

Ilovesprouts, your grandsons are gorgeous and well done Oakley!

Eilidh is now crawling backwards but mostly bum shuffles around. She pulled herself upright for the first time on Friday and after doing it once she has never looked back and is constantly going from sitting, to crawaing backwards, to sitting, to shuffling...all by herself! Its amazing to watch her Smile

Zeeky · 04/01/2011 07:19

Happy New Year everyone!

Big congratulations to Princess. I'm half jealous & half thinking you must be mad Grin!

George has a tooth!!! Father Christmas must have delivered it as I found it on Christmas Day - a tiny pin-prick of sharpness that is now quite big. Still not having very good nights though, so we are thinking of doing some sleep training. Can anyone recommend any methods/books/websites?

Better get up & get moving as ds1 back at preschool this morning so no more nice lazy mornings in pjs!

ilovesprouts · 04/01/2011 12:01

congrats princess

PrincessTweetz · 05/01/2011 16:38

Thank you everyone!! Must admit to feeling quite tired last few days..but coping well with the horrific nausea xx
zeeky I like the baby whisperer tracy hogg...she does a pick up put down routine, and stays with baby to make the transition less confusing for baby, and not allowing baby to feel alone or abandoned. I'm actually a sad act fan of her...I used to watch all her shows before I was even pregnant!!!
Well done Eilidh :)
Makenzi and jude are playing in the ball poy tog4ther..sometimes they are absolutely fantastic and I could watch them for hours....sometimes makenzi forgets hes only 9 months...not that she knows the meaning of a 9 month old baby !!!

harverina · 05/01/2011 19:30

Oh princess are you getting alot of sickness? I felt totally exhausted in the first 16 weeks of pregnancy. Work was awful as hardly anyone knew I was pregnant until week 12 so I just had get on with it. It must be even harder having other kids. But its all worth it In the end when another little bundle of joy comes along!Smile
Just giving eilidh her last feed for tonight. She has eaten so much today! For tea she had spag bog, broccoli, an avocado and a fruit pot! She is going through a major growth spurt!
Hope your all well.
Zeeky I have use the pantley pull off method and have heard that her book "no cry sleep solutions" is good. I am on a thread on sleep about sleep regression. You should have a look, there is fantastic advice. I cant link as on my phone but look on my profile for recent threads and you should see it there.

Mistymoo · 06/01/2011 19:39

Hi. Just thought I'd let you know that J now has a tooth poking through and a normal bottom one and not a fang as I thought it would be first as those sides of his gums have been red for ages.

Bettymum · 07/01/2011 10:45

Hope you're not having too much trouble with teething Misty. A has four now, two top and two bottom, my mum keeps asking me if I'm still BFing him and if I'm not worried about all those teeth Grin. He is a poorly wee soul, we have had some very unsettled nights and he's now lost his voice since he's been coughing so much Sad. He sounds really pathetic when he cries now, it's just a squeak. I feel horrible taking him to nursery and going to work, but he has his own cot there as he's full time, so he's getting plenty of sleep and cuddles there, and he's eating well, so hopefully he'll be all better soon.

harverina · 10/01/2011 23:13

Great news about J's tooth misty. Hope you havent had too many sleepless nights over it Smile

Eilidh's teethhave really been bothering her. She still only has 2 but is constantly rubbing her face and ears. Poor baby. Calpol and ibuprofen dont seem to help that much.

Oh Bettymum, hope things are better now?

Sleep...scared to say it, is slightly better. Working on the feeding to sleep by taking Eilidh off when she gets sleepy rather than waiting until she is in a deep sleep. Also trying to put her into her cot sleepy and just sit in the room in the corner on our comfy chair until she is almost asleep. This seems to be working during the night and at bedtime the past few days...fingers crossed this will continue. Only problem is that last night Eilidh slept alot better and I was up every hour wondering why she wasn't!

Zeeky...here is the thread I am on re: sleep. How are things?

harverina · 10/01/2011 23:14

Meant to ask, did anyone watch one born eery minute? Did you princess...I cried the whole time, from the music at the start Blush

Guacamole · 10/01/2011 23:21

I've only posted on here once, but can I just tell you DS started crawling this week... Very proud... I was getting a bit worried he wouldn't.

harverina · 10/01/2011 23:28

Thats great guacamole! And welcome back! My DD still doesn't crawl...she bum shuffles and goes backwards but no front crawling yet!

Guacamole · 11/01/2011 13:39

DS is desperate to walk... He has a walker with wooden blocks and he loves it, he's very good too, you just have to stop him going too fast. He really wasn't showing any inclination crawl at all and then suddenly he did it. He's really enjoying his new found independence.
I have to say it's arrived with a change in sleep habits (for the worse), he gets himself in a sitting up position in his cot and can't seem to get back down again, cue lots of crying!

PrincessTweetz · 11/01/2011 16:24

I sky plussed it harverina, gonna settle down n wstch it tonight...but can safely guarantee I will also be crying from beginninh to end! Do has taken no shame in my over flooding tears..I cried at toy story, & at teen mom last night!! It's a lil strange cuz I wad pregnant with Jude last series, and again ill be watching thinking of all that is to come again with this one :)
Soo..my poor lil man has chickenpox, and is absolutely covered!!! :( I really thought he was gonna niss it, n then I thought he wouldn't be too spotty, but last night more popped up..in his head, nappy area and face. I cakamined him today n he screamed..was so heartbreaking, but other than that he's copong ok. Battery is about to go on my phone, will pop back on later xxx hope everyone's doing wrll x

nicnacinoonoo · 12/01/2011 15:52

hope everyone had a lovely christmas and new year. havent been on for ages, was really ill over the holidays but dh was great taking care of the kids and bringing me little bits of food and water in bed. its a good job he was off work while i had it dont know how i would have coped on my own.
going to put a couple of christmas pics on in a sec.

congratulations princess of course you can talk on here, i cant wait to hear all about it. wonder what you will have as you already have one of each, are you going to find out?

no movement from Kacie yet and no clapping hands either. she does babble a lot. she has a babywalker and gets all about the house in that which is probably why she hasnt been that bothered about crawling yet. Ajay never crawled so she might not either but she does look more ready for it than he ever did, she puts her knees under her when on her front sometimes now but still doesnt like it.

sayitwithme · 12/01/2011 20:24

Happy New Year everyone. And Congratulations Princess! Fantastic news.

Sorry I've been quiet for a while. After all the illnesses, it was a bit of a mad run up to Christmas and then mad over Christmas! We all had a good one though and managed to stay healthy throughout.

nicnac - in the same boat with DS as you are with Kacie. He just loves to sit still on his bum and play with whatever's in reach. No movements, not even attempts! And also still no teeth. He claps... but only when I'm holding onto each arm and making him! Wink Which he finds really funny. And I can start off "conversations" with him; I say lurdle lurdle and he says it back with a big grin; I make bouncing noises and he makes them back and bounces up and down at the same time laughing. It's so sweet.

We're still not having perfect nights, like some of you, but I have a few strategies up my sleeve. The first was to get rid of the dummy as I'm suspecting it's creating the issues it's solving. Three days now without and doing OK... The second will involve trying to get him off the 4am bottle. I'm going to try water first and then go from there. I may go down the CC route - I realise it's a controversial route - but we'll see.

Bettymum · 13/01/2011 10:41

Just a quick one to say hello, I didn't realise there was a new series of One Born Every Minute on - I watched all of the last series. Will definitely be watching from now on! DH is convinced he wants another baby Confused, I am going to be 40 in December so I'm feeling too old to try again...but I am hating, hating, hating commuting and work, it's just exhausting. We're very busy so some days I leave for work as soon as I've given A his morning feed, so I don't even see DD till it's nearly bedtime. It breaks my heart. Not convinced that having another baby and having three little ones would be exactly relaxing though Grin.

harverina · 14/01/2011 14:02

Hi everyone!
nicnac its lovely to have you back. Sorry to hear you were not well that sounds awful. I had the sick bug over xmas and so did eilidh and it was rubbish. Thankfully I was only really unwell for 24 hours.
sayitwithme you made me laugh at clapping hands. Eilidh does that too with a little help from me! I try every day to get her to do it but she just laughs at me!
Eilidh is still bum shuffling and going backwards. She can pull herself up to a sitting position from lying down so she is pretty mobile.
Hope everyone is well. I'm off to my in laws today till sunday. Have a night out on saturday night too.
Sent my letter to work to request part time hours. Hoping to go back three days, will see what they say.

bettymum your not too old for another one at all! You prob feel exhausted though at the moment. Hope your getting some time to relax? Have a great weekend everyone!

Zeeky · 15/01/2011 10:31

Hi All. Not been on for a while - just been catching up with you all.

George learnt to clap last week& now some days he claps all day long & looks really pleased with himself. He also started babbling last weekend - lots of rarararara so far which sounds so cute. We're now working on the clapping as he will occAsionally do it. No sign of any movement though. He rolls onto his side now to sleep or reach toys but that is it. Still not fond of being on his tummy. He's so happy all day long these days which is lovely.

Started sleep training last night. We'd been putting it off & this is the first clear weekend we've had for a while. I decided that PU/PD might be the best method to try as George is used to being picked up when he cries on the night. I read up on it yesterday & decided it would be best if DH dis the first two night as G expects me to feed him if I go in to him. He goes down like a dream for naps & bedtime but was still waking a couple of times a night & I generally fed him, so really wanted to knock the night feeds on the head. So last night he woke about 11.45pm & it took an hr and a half of Dh going in to him before he finally settled. He then slept until 7am (our usual get up time in the week) when I could him playing in his cot & babbling. He then had a decent bf as opposed to the usual two minute one. So proud of him & DH. DH was in a bit of a strop about doing the sleep training as he thought I was palming off a crap job onto him, but he came round when I pointed out that I'd been doing all the getting up in the night for over 8mths & needed his help to stop the night feeds as I knew that if I went in to him I would end up feeding him! DH going to do the same tonight & then I will take over from Sunday night. Fingers crossed it will be quicker tonight. Once we crack the nights, George will be the perfect baby Grin!

nicnacinoonoo · 15/01/2011 13:28

thanks harverina

well Kacie must have realised i was complaining on here as she has finally started clapping her hands yay! Grin

she also likes to hold onto your fingers and she walks around like that. yesterday i was knelt down and had her perched on one knee and she just stood and took a step trying to take off. she wants to go too fast though and leans too much so doesnt have very good balance, but it has definitely made me even more certain that she is just going to go straight to walking like her brother.

ilovesprouts · 16/01/2011 18:19

awwh bless lloks like all the april thread babys are doing well x my grandson oakley loves to pull his self up and walks when you hols his hands hes such a happy lil boy :)
