Thought I'd start a Post-Natal thread as there are so many of us now sorry about the uninspired name.
Well I am slowly realising the sleepless nights thing is no myth - VERY tired!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
rumpleteaser · 11/08/2010 08:33

I had to do an emergency clen up of Valentins car seat with wet wipes last week, he exploded - poor lil' thing - everything but his face was covered in poo and he was sitting there grinning at me!

Zeeky · 11/08/2010 09:27

The explosive nappies are awful aren't they? George likes to save up his poo for a few days & then do a massive oozing one. I live in fear of them happening when we're out and about as they tend to be more messy if he's sitting in his far seat at the time!

DS1 is in disgrace at the moment. We went to a friend's yesterday & he & his friend went upstairs to play. After a few minutes it had gone very quiet so we went to check on them - they had climbed into the baby sister's cot & smeared a whole tub of sudocrem all over each other, the cot, walls, curtains & carpet! I had to go straight home & spent an hour shampooing his hair with not much success. His hair is still all greasy & grey looking this morning but he's had to go to nursery like that! I felt terrible for my friend for the mess they'd made but secretly glad that it wasn't in my house Blush

Mistymoo · 11/08/2010 11:39

My ds has an explosive nappy everyday. I always have to change at least his vest if not his whole outfit. He is on antibiotics long term at the moment so I think this has something to do with it. They really smell too Grin

rumpleteaser · 12/08/2010 09:05

haha oh zeeky did you have a camera? bless him!

harverina · 12/08/2010 16:03

Hi everyone. I will be leaving spare nappies etc in the car from now on...i learned the hard way! Oh zeeky thats so funny, though bet you weren't laughing at the time! Eilidh has an explosive nappy every single day. Most times its through to at least her vest. We are on our way up to aberdeen for my granda-in-law's funeral. Its usually a 3.5 hour journey but it will depend on how many times we have to stop to feed eilidh. Eilidh has slept for about an hour now, so hopefully she'll have quite a long nap. Last time we went up to aberdeen we woke her up to feed her because it was a boiling hot day but its quite cool in the car today so plan to let her sleep as long as she wants. I have a bag of goodies which is a very bad idea...i have eaten 2 flakes already! Hope you are all well. I'm away to read my book and make the most of having nothing to do!

Neeko · 13/08/2010 09:25

Hi. Sorry I've not been on. Busy week.

harverina Hope the funeral goes ok.

Jennysbean well done on the bottle. I'm not remotely Envy Grin We're still trying.

Loving the explosive nappy talk. They are the worst.
Re clothes size, lots of H's 3-6 months stuff is already too small and she's only 19 weeks.Shock Good job the really chubby legs are so cute!

Have a good weekend.

PrincessTweetz · 13/08/2010 20:05

Harverina hope the funeral goes as well as it can xx

Neeko I've got a chunky monkey in Jude too..he was in 3-6 month clothes at around 9 weeks, and now he's 5 months dead on, and has been in 6-9 months for the past 4/5 weeks....in babygros and vests I need to up date to 9-12 months!!!!! He got weighed yesterday and weighs 16lbs 11 1/12ozs. The last 2 nights now he's gone to bed at 7pm and settled really well...my kitchen is an absolute tip right now, I've got presents to wrap for my lil girl's birthday in a couple of weeks, and my niece's 2nd birthday tomoz, and I am also attempting to make acastle overhang for over the front door, and a castle cake too, so I need to do a practice run first to see if it will resemble a castle haha...but I really can't be bothered to move !!

harverina · 13/08/2010 23:08

Thanks, funeral was very sad. He was 93 but it doesn't make it any easier. Eilidh has been brilliant. She didn't nap at all today and she was passed around alot for cuddles. She didn't moan at all and I kept hearing her doing belly laughs. What a star.
princess your plans sound very ambitious, I wouldn't know where to start so well done. Eilidh is in 3-6 months clothes. She is really long so alot of her baby grows are getting too small but she is quite slender so alot of the clothes fit in the length but are really baggy!Hope you are all well and enjoying your friday night Smile

PrincessTweetz · 14/08/2010 09:58

I didn't know where to start either....so I didn't!! Blush
Have just wrapped up her pressies though while Jude's napping, so there's one thing down....a million more left hehe. I can remember when Saturday mornings were for lazing around in pjs, eating loads of junk and watching t.v whilst recovering from the night before.....now I'm eating bits of junk to keep me going so I can rush round trying to clean the house, whilst wearing scratty baggy t-shirts and bleach stained trackie bottoms that have doubled up as pjs, whilst my 2 year old lazes on the sofa watching cbeebies!!!! Ahh, the hidden scenes of being a mummy haha Grin
Hope you all have a lovely Saturday...I deffo have an appointment with the bathroom at some point today to wash my hair and pluck my eyebrows...off to a party (a 2 year old's!!) this afternoon, and seeing as halloween is still quite far away, I figured I need to make a bit of an effort!! x

Mistymoo · 16/08/2010 09:31

Morning. DS2 started with a cold last night so no sleep for me! He couldn't sleep lying down so I had to sleep on our recliner and hold him. He has a temp too but that seems to be controlled with paracetamol. He's happy at the moment so I'm managing to eat my breakfast. It probabyly means he'll not get his jabs on Thursday though.

It's the last day of our kids school hols so was planning to take them out. Was thinking of going for a walk. I think I'll still go as its not cold and the fresh air may do ds2 good. Am I being silly or selfish doing this?

PrincessTweetz · 16/08/2010 12:29

Mistymoo I don't think you're being silly or selfish at all. The fresh air will probably do you all good!!! xx

Mistymoo · 16/08/2010 21:24

Thanks for your response PrincessTweetz. I did go out and had a lovely time. DS2 witnessed his first pipe band and was not phased by it at all. He has been quite happy considering his nose is streaming and he has a cough. I am glad that we went out as I think the day would have dragged had I not gone.

My other two kids are back to school tomorrow so I will loose my two little helpers and have ds2 all to myself.

harverina · 16/08/2010 22:48

Misty your must be tired having to sleep sitting up. Hope you get a better sleep tonight. Eilidh was up twice during the night last night. It was a bit of a shock to my system tbh! Hoping that tonight she will be back to normal and sleep through [sceptical]. My c section wound is infected again. So disappointed. Back on strong antibiotics. Hope you are all well.

Bettymum · 17/08/2010 08:29

I am on extra helpings of porridge this morning, Alexander was up three times last night , last time was at about 5.15 and we've been up since then. Well he's now asleep, but I am not Grin, but at least I could sleep lying down unlike you Misty. I think he's getting hungrier as he gets bigger, plus he's got DD's snuffles. DH keeps asking when we can move him into his own room Wink.
harverina that's bad news on the c-section wound, hope it clears up soon.

Mistymoo · 17/08/2010 14:00

We had a better sleep last night. Put pillow under mattress and that seemed to help. He only woke up once which is his norm so that was good.

Harverina I hope your wound heals soon.

harverina · 18/08/2010 22:54

Looks like I spoke too soon...Eilidh has been up twice in the night for a feed for the past three nights...big yawn!! She is in bed now and I should be too - night!

Bettymum · 20/08/2010 08:35

Eilidh and Alexander must be in cahoots, he has been up twice or three times the last few nights and seems to have decided that 5am is the new time to get up. DH has started decamping to the spare room to sleep. I am drinking lots of cups of tea.

harverina · 20/08/2010 22:40

bettymum things have been better the last couple of night - BUT she is also waking at 5am! I can cope with that if this is the only time she is up though as she does go back to bed after an hour or so. Last night she slept from 10pm til 6am then back to bed at 7am till 10am. Hoping this is a sign of things to come...Grin

Eilish used to be in bed by 8pm every night but it's now a struggle to have her in bed before 9pm these days. Starting to realise that there really is such a thing as the 4 month sleep regression Hmm

Hope you are all well and enjoying your Friday night. We went shopping today. We had a lovely day, very relaxed, with long breaks for feeds and cuddles. I got some nice new clothes for going away on my hols. Now just need to put them in my wardrobe and resist wearing them before I go!

Zeeky · 21/08/2010 12:55

Hi all. Been offline for a week as we've been down in Wales staying with my parents for the last week. Managed to get a couple of days on the beach before the rain arrived. Both boys now asleep in the car on our way back - bliss! We were all staying in one room which I was worried about but they were both really good. George's sleep was rather erratic though - some nights he slept through til 6.30 and others he woke up twice. Maybe it was because we were all in the one room so disturbed him. Luckily he doesn't cry when he wakes - he wakes me up with the sound of him sucking his fingers and trying to gnaw his own hand off!

DS1's birthday on Wednesday so got a busy week of baking and gettng ready for his party on Saturday. Having a pirate-themed party for him and planning to make a treasure-chest cake for him but not sure how yet! 17 kids plus their parents - I must be mad!!! Let's just hope it's dry so that they can be in the garden...

PrincessTweetz · 21/08/2010 12:55

Really quick post...sorry if it seems ignorant!! xx Jude slept in his own crib ALL night last night!!! Dreamfed him before I went to bed at 12ish, and he didn't wake me til after 7 this morning!! First time since having him I haven't woke up with backache...I realised I was all stretched out in a nice comfy position for once! Hope everyone's well...and sleep gets better soon :) xx

zeeky, Eilidh is the same, she doesn't cry (though she does eventually!) when she wakens up. I hear her trying to roll over and sucking her fingers..unless I'm really tired! Good luck with all the party preparations Smile

helenwombat we used to do a dreamfeed around 10.30pm but it didn't work for us. Eilidh just wouldn't waken up enough. We tried giving her an expressed bottle but we were lucky if she drank half an oz so we stopped wakening her. For the past couple of nights Eilidh has slept all night from between 9pm/10pm and 5am/6am. She was in bed tonight at 7.30pm so who knows when she will waken!

Feeding is a bit odd just now. Feeds can be as short as 5 minutes. I'm so worried in case she isnt getting enough but think I'm just being paranoid?

Hope your all having a nice Saturday, we went to look for a buggy today for when we go on holiday. Our pram takes up the whole boot so we would have no room to take anything else. Anyone have any buggy/stroller recommendations?

Zeeky · 22/08/2010 08:12

Had a bad night with George last night waking every 2 hours! He didn't go to bed until 11so thought he would sleep at least until 4 but instead woke at 1.30, 4 & 6.30 with a half hr feed each time! At 6.30 I realised he was wet -soaked through the sleeping bag, so don't know if that's what was waking him. Buy i guess it was because of the extra feeds he had in the night. The same thing happened on fri night too. They are huggies nappies so not like they are a cheapo nappy!

Dreamfeeds were awful with ds1 as it would then take a couple of hrs to get him back to sleep so we stopped doin them. He was always hard work to get to sleep and settle. I do it with George if he has gone to bed earlier than usual as otherwise he wakes at 1. He is very easy to settle.

Bettymum · 22/08/2010 08:34

Morning everyone, hope you are all well.
Zeeky poor you, hope you get a bit more rest so you can do all that lovely baking! It sounds like it will be a fab party.
harverina I think the babies just get more efficient at feeding so they get quicker.
helen I've never done a dreamfeed, I don't quite understand what it means actually Blush. I certainly don't wake sleeping babies in the night Grin.

harverina · 22/08/2010 23:55

zeeky, sorry to hear you had an unsettled night, hope tonight is a bit better. Eilidh was a star last night. She was in bed sleeping from 7.30pm and slept till 5.30am. Up for an hour for a feed and a change and back into bed from 6.30am till 9.30am. Tonight was not so good. She only went to bed at 10pm, so not sure when she will be up next! She is a bit unsettled tonight.

I'm going into work tomorrow. Its a Keep In Touch day and I am dreading leaving Eilidh. My MIL is coming to babysit and my mum is also popping in. Trust my MIL but just don't really fully trust anyone which I know is crazy. Have been expressing - so far have 17oz. I will be away from about 10.30am till 5.30pm so I need to leave 3 feeds of about 7oz. The past couple of nights I have been able to express loads so I decided not to express this morning and leave it till tonight - big mistake! Because Eilidh was up so late and feeding Ive hardly been able to express any! My DH is now away to bed while I keep pumping HmmAngry

Hope you are all well. The weekends fly by don't they. My Dh is off work next week and I can't wait!

Forgot to mention - last week Eilidh started to say mama! She says lots of variations of mummy, mama, sometimes clear but mostly not, but she is definetely trying to say it! She first said it one night at 11.30pm. She had been sleeping and woke up and just said it, I was almost in tears!
