Good enough for ya dog .

And sorry I do realise some are only turning 14 mths and some are nearly 16mths etc,etc......apologies!

All officially toddlers now though i think (well 120's H and HKZ's J are pulling up/taking steps now I think, think mostly everyone walking of some sort!) Scary thought!

You ok Dog? Sound a bit down.

chefswife · 05/05/2010 20:48

Just a quick pop in.
MissJ hugs to you and yours.
HKZ Yeah!
... then I recall some talk about cupcakes and brownies and it reminded me of all the baking I have to do this week myself and that I have weasled DH's pastry chef's brownie recipe. Should be good. SuperFlyMums are putting together another gift basket with our frozen dinners and in my case, baked goods because my cooking sucks. I'm doing a batch of my oatmeal raisin cookies and banana bread for baby shower gift basket and then we all put in $15 for a gift card for a spa. We've had two so far and the next one is due in June! Then we have music Saturday morning and because Sunday is our Mother's Day so I bought some little chinese take away boxes that are in pastels and I'm going to put the two bite brownies in them. I love domesticity! Julia, Nigella, Martha! Watch Out! Here's comes Chefswife!

moosemama · 05/05/2010 22:10

Dh 'popped out' to pick up something from his friends house at 8.00 pm assuring me he wouldn't be long and wouldn't stop.

Two hours later and no sign of him. I'm not sure whether to worry or be mad at him.

Dog - at flambed dinner! Hope you are ok.

Books, when you get to be as old as I am, you have LOTS of cake baking experience behind you. To be fair, dh timed me at our old house, which was a lot easier to bake in. It might be a minute or two more these days due to my horrible, impractical kitchen. I want this kitchen! OR any of these. (I'm not fussy you understand.)

treedelivery · 05/05/2010 22:34

Hi all.

Lovely to see you EPPM

Off to bed.

Sort and sweet

Moose - please stop taking pictures of my housea nd posting them. It's makng me bashful. Thanks.

moosemama · 05/05/2010 22:38

Nighty night.

chefswife · 06/05/2010 02:01

Chefswife trudges to washroom for a facecloth to wipe drool from chin after looking at kitchen pictures Moose posted.

missjackson · 06/05/2010 03:55

4am, just got af , eating jaffa cakes .

Now can't decide whether to stop ttc until after the summer . Can't help wishing that this recent pg had stuck around - it seemed to happen so naturally, and now I feel like we are planning it, which isn't so much fun, iykwim.

Loving the name changes but don't even know how to change my name, even if I could think of something good

Thanks for all the lovely thoughts about my Granddad - he was such a huge figure in my life so it's hard to lose him, even though he wanted to go.

Waves at peach - how are you?

tinkhasaspringinherstep · 06/05/2010 09:09

LenniralElection · 06/05/2010 10:44

Thanks all for advice on nursing home, have found out name and telephone number of home. Just want to know what it will be like though? Have never been to one. Usually we meet her at her house, even since she's been in the home.

Chef - those baskets sound yummy, such a thoughtful gift for a new Mum. You should go into business!

EPPM - Lovely to hear from you. How are you? How is work? How are the DCs? So many questions.

120 - Had a good read of your blog last night, bookmarked loads of recipes. I have a chocolate brownie recipe with raspberries in that is divine if you want it? Made me laugh when I read the brownie recipe and it said something like "This one doesn't actually contain any fruit or veg"

Books - I am pretty handy at chocolate victoria sponge nowadays (DD's favourite thing to make) but 25 minutes is pushing it! More like 25 minutes to talk her round to only using a couple of spoonfuls of cocoa and another 25 minutes to row over how many spoons are required for stirring.

Not sure about TTC MissJ, think it depends on your assessment of your fertility. Before we were TTC DD I was really unwell with arthritis and was on the verge of having to go on a treatment that you can't get pregnant on and might harm your fertility. DH and I had discussions about what to do and decided to TTC before I had the treatment, but the whole process was really medicalised. My GP told me the law of averages saws a healthy couple with well timed sex will get pregnant within 6 months and most couples who aren't going to need any help would have a successful pregnancy within a year. At the time I remember being horrified by it taking so long, but realise now that is pretty realistic. They gave me a 6 month course of steroids to keep me well enough to try and get pregnant. On the sixth month I got pregnant but miscarried and the seventh month conceived DD, although in reality we hadn't been using contraception for a lot longer than that so it took more like a year or so. My arthritis has stayed under control ever since fortunately. DS was much more natural and I was pregnant second month of trying.

Given that you are still bf N and having irregular cycles I think I would be inclined to keep trying but then my experiences of TTC have been in totally different circumstances where I have just wanted to be pg as soon as possible. I'm also tainted by my 3 of my 5 closest Mum friends and a couple of relatives having had fertility problems. I'd probably not bother with the military operation type of approach and just not use contraception and if it happens great. Know it will be difficult if you get pg just before your job starts though, so if you think you absolutely couldn't face early pg during the job then I'd try next month and then leave it a couple of months. Sorry for long waffly response.

Moose - I want that kitchen too! Your kitchen sounds so like mine. Mine only has 3 doors though (to think I moan about 3 and you have 4!) and a big chimney breast on the last remaining wall so my longest stretch of worktop is about 1m. It drives me crazy. If I'm baking I end up having to roll out on a board on top of the Aga as that is the biggest flat surface. The kitchen itself is pretty big, it is just a terrible design.

elkiedee · 06/05/2010 11:09

Miss J, sorry about your beloved grandpa.

Congratulations HKZ. My sister has just announced she's pregnant with her second, 1st is the same age as Conor, this one will be due in November so there'll be a very similar age gap.

I want another one but we have nowhere to put them.

hackneyzoo · 06/05/2010 12:44

Morning everyone one.

How are you Elkie? How is your Mum doing? She is often in my thoughts, I hope she is doing well. Congrats on being an impending aunt again soon! LOL at having nowhere to put another one...us neither!

Lenni and moose your kitchens sound fab. We just had a quote to do ours and it is abit beyond our price range atthe moment (£5k not including the units/oven/new flooring) as we need alot of structural work done and want to change 5the room it is in... Your Aga reminds me of growing up and being constantly told off for sitting on the top of it in case i got piles

Tink enjoy your day off with DD.

MissJ Sorry you got AF, glad you had jaffa cakes to hand. I thought Lenni's thoughts on TTC made a lot of sense. This time was the first time I looked into the whole 'mechanics' of TTC and it felt really odd counting days and working out ovulation and all that sort of thing, it made me think about it far too much and was actually a bit stressful. I had decided if it hadn't worked just to go with the whole enjoying unprotected sex as much as possible...especially around rthe middle of the month

Hello to Books, Eppm, Tree, Chef and everyone... got long meeting with Ed Psych coming up so better get my self together

missjackson · 06/05/2010 14:11

Thanks lenni and hkz for ttc thoughts... I think from my extensive googling last night [confusion] I am still in the 'returning to fertility' stage as still co-sleeping and bf-ing so much (anyone else?) - which is often marked by a short luteal phase (my last one was only about 9-10 days according to my guess at when I ovulated) so it's unlikely to happen, or stick around if it does until that gets back to normal.... but at the same time, who knows with these things? So yes, we are just going to relax and enjoy fabulous chandelier-swinging sex, and we'll see what happens. If I do end up pg and working, of course we'll cope.

I have crap kitchen too - it's really big but it's basically the entrance hall! One side is all floor to ceiling windows and the front door, one side has big arch to dining area, one side has stairs, understairs cupboard and door to sitting room - leaving just one side for everything else! So only have one little stretch of worktop despite huge kitchen. And there is nowhere to sit! I need to sort it out really, I can't believe we've been here over a year and I still have boxes to unpack.

dog glad you are settling in and fab about the new bathroom, who is to argue with that?!

Good to hear from you elkie and congrats to your sister.

tink hope you have brownies or some sort of cake to get you thru first day of af!

Waves to everyone.

120Votes · 06/05/2010 17:12

hello, quick one before I make kiddy supper.

lenni, yes to raspberry brownie recipe please! sounds yum. Glad you found stuff you like on the blog. Do come and post suggestions or tips on them as a lot of them are as I cook them, so it may be different for others. Need to get MJ's non beating tip on the brownies too.

lovely to hear from you elkie

mj sorry about af. jaffa cakes rock

don't get me started on kitchens. mine is 1.7m x 3m.

right. need to get supper sorted. H is sleeping and DD is eating cheese straws and grapes on the 'be-yell-conny' as she calls it.

treedelivery · 06/05/2010 19:05

Aw I'm sorry to hear about AF MissJ. I agree with Lenni, maybe just carry on and see if it happens. Run on the asumption it won't and you will be ttc 'properly' in the winter - and who knows what will turn up. Chandelier swinging sounds good

Hello to Elkie, and all.

Just doing the bedtime hour, Thursday is our busy day so am on an adrenaline rush.

Finalised loan for the paving today. Eeek.

I mentioned dh will be resigning in Aug and we will be plunged into student debt and surviving on £20k per year......happily they didn't hold it against me. Phew!

Another one with no worktop - my fault as I insisted on worktop based wall units to create a bit of a dresser look. I have a metre and then about another 3/4 metre.

hackneyzoo · 06/05/2010 19:34

Well I've done my voting...now I am going to settle down for an evening or election fever....or maybe watch Desperate Housewives and Brotjers and Sisters on 4OD...hmmmm.

tree glad you got your loan. Is DH doing teacher training? Got any tips for convincing the bank? Weneed to find some cash for the kitchen...bathroom...and damp. grrr.

120 was showing my foodie boss your blog at work and she got very excited...and hungry!

Lenni...am doing the chilli steak tonight...mouth is watering already.

Talking of kitchens....anyone recommend the ikea free standing kitchen? And also anyone got any flooring recommendations...some sort of hardwearing surface that is also not hideous to look at...any ideas for posh yet cheap vinyl?

MissJ I like the sound of chandelier swinging sex, you and DH must be very flexible! ope you and your family are doing ok today

J got gunky eyes today and more ear snot so takinghim to te GP tomorrow. Lily has peeled a number of keys off my powerbook making it a pita the arse to type. Grrr.

Dog how are you doing today? How is the settling in going, I hope you have managed to rest up a bit.

Moose is DS1 any better today?

Moose and Dog can you fit three car seats in the back of your cars? We've got a ford focus estate and am suddenly a bit worried as there is not much space for anoter seat...eek.
