SilveryMoon · 12/06/2010 13:50

mos We were supposed to go on 21st for 4 days, but they have now moved it to 28th for 4 days.

I'm a bit concerned about this course now. the suggested reading list is quite out of date. All the books are from the 80's and I can't find them. Surely these books must have been updated in 20 years.
Maybe this course is out of date, but i did check. Oh dear.

TulipsInTheSunshine · 12/06/2010 13:52

dinky... any chance you could use your awesome thread naming abilities and start a new thread... my pc takes anbout 5 minutes to load this one now and it's driving me nuts!

SM, are there any online reviews of the course?

dinkystinky · 12/06/2010 14:05

Hmm, sleep deprivation is taking its toll on my thread naming abilities... will try and think of one when caffeine finally manages to kickstart my brain...

SM - its strange the books are from the 80s with no updates. Perhaps worth checking out if the library can order them in from other local libraries?

Tulips me too! I have to start loading this page and then check my fb!

No, I couldn't find reviews.
I should have just forked out the extra money and gone with the OU. Oh well. It will still give me the knowledge and understanding of the topics though won't it

mumoverseas · 12/06/2010 16:04

SM glad you haven't cancelled your holiday and have just changed dates as I remember you having to cancel last year? where are you off to?

ref suggested reading, the counselling course I'm doing had some pretty old books so its not uncommon for that to happen.
Try having a look on amazon as you can often pick up old books quite cheaply. Sometime if its a 'classic' book they will be old editions. I know one of the books I had to read had some editions going back to the early 80's.
I'm sure you'll be fine, have confidence in yourself.

TITS 11.5 hours! bloody hell H is a rat baby today, really clingy. Hand foot and mouth is going around here so am hoping its not that.

A bit pissed off about my book sales. They'd been going really well to the extent that my friend selling had asked for more to sell Monday. I boxed a load up and DH's colleague who lives on her compound took them on Wednesday. Happened to see her earlier as she was on our compound to go to drs and asked if books ok. Her reply 'what books'. Turned out the twunt had left them on her doorstep (even though she had been in last Wed when he dropped them off) and they've been pinched. Bloody stupid twat, how stupid can you get to leave a box of brand new books on a bloody doorstep. I suppose I should be grateful if was just 70 pounds worth and not like the previous delivery which was over 775 pounds!
realy pisses me off the dishonesty around here, DD's little pink bike was pinched 2 months ago and that never turned up!

SilveryMoon · 12/06/2010 16:10

mos yes we did have to cancel last years due to a lack of funds. What a good memory you have! We're off to Camber Sands (sp?). Dp gets paid on 25th, so we'll be ok.
Re reading materials, that's reassuring, thank you. I ended up getting a few books from the library that were about the same thing really so should be ok, but will have a look on amazon as well.

That's awful about the books being stolen, and dd's bike.

mumoverseas · 12/06/2010 16:50

oooh, I love Camber sands. Funnily enough, DH was talking about it just yesterday as he used to go there a lot when he was young.

The book I'm (supposed to be) reading now is around the 15th edition but they say you can use any edition as the facts/theorys don't really change. I ended up buying the newest edition which was quite expensive but the older editions were much cheaper 2nd hand on amazon.

Still fuming about books as the profit from books sales is supposed to be our holiday spending money.

dinkystinky · 12/06/2010 19:40

Evening all - MoS am aghast at the books being stolen on the compound. I imagine in my head that the compounds are a bit Wysteria Lane like in that everyone knows everyone elses coming and goings but clearly not. Hope the thieving bastards get some karmic justice.

Danny was a bugger all morning - he had a morning and late lunch nap (as was shattered from no sleep last night) and has been a delight this afternoon - ate dinner really well, took his meds (for the first time ever) with no complaint, had some whole milk from a sippy cup in front of charlie & lola (a pre bedtime institution for DS1) after his bath then a bf in his room and let me leave him in his cot awake with no crying and is happily squealing away to himself upstairs now. Am in shock...

Camber Sands should be great fun - spent a long weekend in that neck of the woods when pregnant with DS1 and remember thinking it would be a great place for a family holiday with nippers...

Can I pick some legal eagle brains please? If 2 unmarried people bought a house together 6 mtgs ago, 1 putting in £13500 deposit and the other £500, if they split up how does one divvy up? Do you each get back what you put in and then share the leftover equity 50/50 or is it tough tits and a complete 50/50 share??

My poor little brother's first serious relationship has just ended and he is devastated, just hope I can give him him some good financial news

dinkystinky · 12/06/2010 20:39

You need MoS or Herbgarden Spotty - I think the fairest way would be for each to get back their deposits and split the balance 50/50. Normally people are advised to draw up an agreement about what happens if they're tenants in common to record their understanding on this stuff - take it they didnt do that?

OP posts:
Spottyshoes · 12/06/2010 21:15

No unfortunately they didn't. I agree I think that's fairest. I had a free half hour with a solicitor when H was being a dick and she told me that was how it worked but I'm married and have children so don't know if it makes a difference. Thanks for getting back to me

dinkystinky · 12/06/2010 21:19

Hopefully MoS will confirm that's also the case for a non-married couple then. Your poor brother.

How about Fab Feb 2009: when they're good they are very very good, but when they're bad they're todzillas...

OP posts:
dinkystinky · 12/06/2010 21:22

Or Fab Feb 2009: someone pass mummy more wine....

OP posts:
Spottyshoes · 12/06/2010 21:26

Dinky if you ever tire of law there is a dazzling career in advertising slogans with your name on it!!!! It gets my vote - although can't say todzillas is the name I use for mine!!!

mumoverseas · 13/06/2010 05:40

todzillas is very apt

spotty ref house, assume they bought as joint tenants not tennants in common then? I'd have thought that the solicitor dealing wtih the purchase would have advised tenants in common bearing in mind the disparity (sp? its early!) between the deposits they put in. Your DB needs to check this.

If joint tenants then technically it is 50/50 unfortunately for him (assume it is your DB that put in the lions share of deposit)?

Will also be a PITA if one party wants to sell and the other doesn't. Fingers crossed they can sort it amicably.

P.S. I think most lawyers are already tired of the law and only in it for the money

SilveryMoon · 13/06/2010 06:17

Am liking Todzillas. Fits us!

My friend had an ann summers party last night. I am feeling slightly fragile. Didn't get in til gone midnight. Walked in to find dp asleep and jacob just wandering around the hallway looking for juice. Didn't get to sleep until about 2 and Luke got up at 5:20. OMG.

Was a gbood night though, had a giggle so glad I went.

Spottyshoes · 13/06/2010 07:20

Thankyou for that mos, I will pass all of that on, no doubt he will end up losing out somewhere. He's ploughed thousands into refurbs aswell bless him. Oh well, costly life lesson for him.

Argh @ your lack of sleep sm but glad you had a good time. Don't know about you but, despite feeling knackred, I always feel better after nights like that knowing that my sleep deprivation is my choice and not one the kids made for me!!!!

3 hrs sleep (my choice) for 2nd night in a row and now I have to drag myself to the gym . Then it's cricket for SS, cut grass, cook Sunday dinner for 8, wash up and an evening of ironing once the kids are asleep!!! I vaguely remember a time in a past life when Sundays were the day of rest

Have a good day x

littlesez · 13/06/2010 07:54

so fucked off shit crap arse. over something stoopid on another forum. I get bored when hubby is at work (which is always) so i go on internet then annoy myself. If anyone is on babycentre please go on wyoo and back me up even if i being stupid

littlesez · 13/06/2010 07:58

the strange noise was izzy playing with the velcro on her nappy! sat in bed, nappy off, piddled on the mattress and pillow, little scamp

SilveryMoon · 13/06/2010 08:09

Luke can get his nappy off too. Not looking forward to getting up and finding he's smeared unpleastantness everywhere!

I'm not on that website. What's been happening?

mumoverseas · 13/06/2010 08:25

at Mners going on another forum!

dinkystinky · 13/06/2010 11:40

Littlesez - Babycentre is the land of the demented huns. Do yourself and your blood pressure a favour and steer clear. Lol at Izzy and her free-piddling.

SM sorry you had a shocker last night sleepwise but glad you had a good night out. Ditto to Spotty - and Spotty just reading about your day today is making me feel tired!

MoS - you're spot on about lawyers and the law! Hope H's sleeping is settling down now you're off the ABs and you're getting some more kip. Not long till you're back in the UK... And am up for a meet up (think Swampster suggested her local fair in mid July on FB didnt she?). Unfortunately as am at work during the week can only do w/es so if you do a mid week meet up will be there in spirit.

Have started a new thread off with Todzilla title - cant figure out how to do links on the mac so could one of you kind ladies do the linky honours. Cheers.
