I give up trying to contain my excitement -- TWO MORE SLEEPS!!!

littlepea72 · 04/05/2010 09:36

LOL....Scout

mistressploppy · 04/05/2010 09:39

Is it too late to join in? Is this just for people who've been here from pre-natal days?

princessmel · 04/05/2010 11:03

deffo not too late to join in!!! welcome

How old is your baby???
Quick rundown of my ds2...
He is 27 weeks, born on Oct24th. Currently napping in his pram after school run. No teeth, BLW and eating not much! Sucking stuff though. Not sleeping through, wakes for a bf about twice a night. Can sit up, doesn't seem bothered with rolling, no sign of crawling. Says dadada!!

I am an the hunt for a baby shade for the buggy today. See my other thread....

I'm feeling glum today. Feel frumpy and blah. Nothing to do with weight. (thats sort of back to normal)
Just hate what I look like today. I feel like this alot but usually manage to push the feelings away and get over it. I have felt worse about myself since my hairdresser cut off so much of my hair a few weeks ago GGrgh
Plus I was at a party for dd on sunday and a mum I know was there and she is soooooo glam, it's just unreal. Maybe too glam. Loads of fake tan, false eyelashes etc, but she is so pretty too. Made me feel sooo plain in comparison I must stop wallowing.

Oh the cat brought in a dead mouse in the night, that was nice...yuk!

Dh worked all the BH weekend (till gone 7pm each day)so I was pretty tired last night. All 3 by myself is tiring.

scout YAY!!!

mistressploppy · 04/05/2010 12:42

Princess, thank you for fab welcome! Love love love reading about your ds. How old are your older ones?

Here's a roundup of mine:

PFB ds, born a month early on 19th Oct (28wks). Naps x 3 a day in his cot, sleeps 6.30pm - 7am ish with no waking!

No teeth, breastfed, mixture of blw and spooning, eats LOADS, gone off his milk now! We need the puree as his reflux is better with it.

No rolling but sits up, no proper babble yet, just vowels!

And we have a cat who brings us loads of dead things too, and some live ones (usually baby rabbits)

Am SAHM (I work for dh so can pick and choose when to go back, if at all )

This seems like a lovely thread with a nice bunch, thank you for having me

twinklegreen · 04/05/2010 13:21

Welcome mistressploppy!

Quick summary of mine: PFB DS Joseph 8lbs - born 5th Oct, 5 days late via hypnobirthing and forceps. He is both v challenging and hilarious-proper little clingon who wants to be on me ALL the time. Midwives gave up trying to get him to sleep in crib in hospital and showed me how to safely co-sleep-we've been co-sleeping ever since. Geenerally a smiley thing but hates being a baby, wants to be on the move all the time and is v frustrated that he can't be. He seems to have been teething forever and has been a rubbish sleeper, now has 2 teeth. Breasfed exc until 26 weeks, now weaning with a mix of pureeing whatever we're eating and blw.

I'm a SAHM, left a 16 yr career in publishing and would quite like to try my hand at the other side (writing) now. Am doing a pt OU degree in Spanish & Italian.DH works rather insane hours.

princessmel-I might have to return the Manduca, , Joe seems to hate it . Re buggy parasol-I got one from kiddicare. Btw, You are absolutely stunning (we've seen pics remember!)- glam mum probably took ages to get ready for that party and is just as frazzled as the rest of us most of the time.

twinkle Glad you had a great time

Scout How many sleeps?

Fidelma What backpack to you carry Connor in when gardening? I'd love to be able to get on with the garden each day

littlepea How goes the packing?

twinklegreen · 04/05/2010 14:11

Princessmel I agree, looking at photo's of you makes me feel frumpy!!!

HumphreysCorner · 04/05/2010 14:39

Hello, welcome and congratulations mistressploppy.

I am 41 and a SAHM with 3 DC-DD1 6, DD2 3 and Matthew born 1st October. He is BF and eats pureed food and HIPP jars. He rolls but cannot sit so still unable to go into the highchair. He is very clingy and wakes a few times a night.

princessmel-sorry that you feel down and frumpy. I have seen your pics and you are far from being frumpy. Chin up lass as there is nowt wrong with you!

Scout-counting with you. Infact, DD1 rushed in and said about the volcano ash alert on the news and I immediately said to DH about my MN friend going home in 2 days and hoping you would get to fly.

littlepea-bet you are busy, busy sorting through things.

Matthew does have a cold and that is why he was crying so much the other day.

Today I am stuck in waiting for Argos to deliver DD2's playhouse and also Mower Man said he would cut the grass today. He is so unreliable since he lost his licence through drink driving.

My weight is steadily creeping up so need to cut down. Would like a new dress for the Baptism in 5 weeks.

Have a good day ladeez!

Scout19075 · 04/05/2010 14:55

Welcome mistressploppy! I joined post-natally as well.

PFB DS Sebastian (Seb) was 7 lbs 2 oz, born 28 October induced 10 days early. Used to be a rubbish sleeper then the silent reflux was diagnosed and now is brilliant (most of the time!). No teeth, but seems to have been teething FOREVER. Solo sits pretty well, though still topples over sometimes (had a nasty topple at the Guide sleep-over over the weekend). Rolls from tummy to back but not back to tummy (tries very hard but hasn't worked out that he needs to swing his hips). Was EBF until 26 weeks (though started purees a few weeks before because he was SOOO hungry and wanting food) but have started weaning him to formula due to a medical condition I have that needs to get sorted (and the medicine is toxic to him, so he needs to be completely off the boob). Like HT's Joseph, I think Seb hates being a baby he wants to move and be doing things and hates that he can't get his body to do what his mind wants it to do. But he's a smiler and a flirt and will find any girl baby in a crowd.

HT TWO sleeps. But who's counting? Now, if Iceland can just keep it's volcanic ash to itself until I get there I would be very grateful. (I can be stranded once there, I don't care.)

twinkle Glad you had a good birthday/birthday weekend. This side of that number is really pretty good!

princessmel Yes, I agree, I'm definitely frumpy next to you!

littlepea How is the packing? I hope you're remembering to not panic and breathe.

Guide Sleep-Over Saturday night was hard work good fun. I was absolutely knackered when we got home. Seb ate two portions of lunch when we got back and then promptly napped for almost three hours. I napped with him. He woke up around the time he normally goes to bed, had some dinner and was back in bed within just over an hour of waking up and slept a decent night. The girlies are really good to him and with him. One of them decorated a plate with the details of his first (post-natal) Guide over night and had everyone sign it. Another made him a name sign for his bedroom door (we were doing paper crafts at one point). They all wanted to hold him and make him laugh and watch him eat and peak at him asleep in his basket. Makes me a bit more confident about summer camp in August.

Scout19075 · 04/05/2010 14:58

x-posts with HC -- Thanks! Keep your fingers crossed because I REALLY want to be home for Mother's Day!!

BellaCullen · 04/05/2010 21:47

Welcome to mistressploppy and congratulations.

Quick summary for me:
ds1 8 years old
dd 4 years old
ds2 Nathaniel born on 5th October 3days late and weighing 8lbs 10ozs.Has been slow with weight gain since, been ebf till 26 weeks then started blw, which is going slowly.Napping 3 times a day and not sure how many feeds at night as every night is different. Were co-sleeping.Can roll but hasnt really done it for weeks and no sitting as of yet.
Am a childminder but still on maternity leave.

princessmel hope youre feeling better, youre absolutely gorgeous and so glam and not frumpy at all.Like HT said other mum took probably hours to get ready.

scout am hoping youll get home ok and no ash in the way.Glad youre sleep over went ok sounds like fun.

HC am relieved Nathaniel is not only one not sitting yet.Matthew and him sound very simalar as both seem clingy, not sleeping through night and not sitting yet.We can at least support each other.
Nathaniels been ill so extra clingy in last two weeks had to carry him round in Moby wrap everywhere, its a lifsaver.Moby wrap still really good to use and fine on my back too.Babybjorn is absolute killer for back so won`t even use that on anymore.
Hope you got your delivery.

Oh,Nathaniels finally getting some teeth first one just coming through and second not far behind.Must have been why hes been unwell in last few week.So exciting, although dreading him biting me.Any tips for that?

Mom's getting very worried now about Icelandic volcanic ash cloud. I think she's starting to rub off on me. Please, please, please, Iceland, keep your volcanic ash clouds to yourself!

Igglybuff · 05/05/2010 07:54

Morning! I'm on holiday but as I'm feeding I'll check in.

Welcome mistress! a summary from me:

  • first baby William born 1 oct, 9lb 4oz. 8 days late.
  • sleep massively improving although wakes 1-2 times a night as he's too distracted to feed properly in the day
  • doing blw and mush. W prefers blw but I haven't got a good enough diet to let him eat my food!
He's a bit of a mover - dragging himself around on his belly, rolling like mad (v difficult to change him) and clambouring over me to get to dangerous things like electric cables...

scout I saw the doom cloud had returned and thought of you. My fingers and toes are crossed for you

princess you have nothing to worry about - I've seen your profile pics!!!

to everyone else - I'll go back to holiday now

mistressploppy · 05/05/2010 09:25

Wow, thanks for the round-ups everyone, this is great, it's so nice to see how different everyone's LOs are!

rubyslippers · 05/05/2010 09:29

just marking my place - will catch up later

had visitors all week which was lovely if very hectic and tiring

Can see the end of night feeds though - we are down to 3 mins once per night!!!!

hope everyone is ok x

CalypsoFramboise · 05/05/2010 11:26

Hello mistressploppy (haha love the handle!)
I have nearly the oldest and smallest baby on this thread, 28th Sept and still only 12 1/2 lbs! She's very nearly grown out of her 0-3month clothes so she's getting somewhere
I'm still reeling from the shock of how much work a child is, don't know if I could ever bring myself to do this all over again, and I've got the easiest, happiest, loveliest daughter one could hope for, heh, she might stay an only child
Supposed to have got back to my PhD early April, but totally failed to get my arse into gear, but my supervisors don't seemed to have noticed so might leave it until Annalise starts at the Childminder in June
ps: I see from your profile that you're from Winchester - I went to Peter Symonds!

princessmel goodness YOU feel frumpy?! You're gorgeous

HT sorry to hear that the backpack isn't working out

bella yay for teeth, hope they didn't bother N too much

ruby fabulous news about the night sleeping! You're doing better than me

iggly hope the holiday is going well

scout fingers crossed your flight leaves ok! 'Kalos Taxidi' as they say in Greece (have a beautiful journey)

holiday going to Corsica in about 10 days time (if the ash cloud doesn't nip it in the bud {weeps}, and my mind is BOGGLED with how much I could bring to Corsica for Annalise! Not going to bring cloth nappies, but with Annalise still being so sicky (and solids sick isn't a 'wipe it and its ok'job) so she'll need almost a case to herself incl the carrycot . DH and I have always had backpacking and bussing it around remote parts of the world type trips, so its going to be quite diff with an 8month old baby that needs frequent feeding and napping... Still hoping to go hiking, the Col de Bavella looks amazing. Off to Muji this afternoon to buy lots of miniture stuff and random extra bags, yay!

ps: someone recommended some good suncream for babies? I have tesco SPF50 and will try it today, but Annalise tends to get very allergic to stuff on her face...

x

littlepea72 · 05/05/2010 11:46

Quick one Quick one....

Pre march-out great, over in 5 minutes, kids really sick, both up all night, Faith is getting better, DS has bucket roped round his neck!! Still in a panic lol...no packing today as bloody workmen coming in and out to do work, that should of been done before we moved in......3 weeks to go!!!

Scout any new on flights?

Mistress hello & welcome!!!

Run run run.................

Ps...princessmel I would look like Mr Blobbly standing beside you!

mistressploppy · 05/05/2010 12:40

Calypso - so did DH! I wonder if you know each other...he's 30 so would have been there in 1998 I suppose?

princessmel · 05/05/2010 13:57

Thanks all of you.
I don't know why I feel this way. I just do. I have a very low self esteem. But it is wierd as I can also be very confident on occasions. If I feel good about myself/my appearance then I can feel confident and sexy and not too awful. I can also see that I look nice in some photos, but then I say to myself 'they were just lucky one off shots and thats not how I look all the time , in normal life' .
But on days when I feel low, I don't even like to look people in the eye for too long, as I think they're looking at me /my face and will se how yuk/ugly/dull I am.

And I know that people will think I'm being dramatic or 'fishing for compliments' (as my sister puts it) but I am really not.

I remember the first time I was upset about how I look. I was about 11 or 12 and I saw a photo of when we'd been on a trip to Cadbury world. Mum had taken a photo of me and my brother and sister in the back of the car. When I saw the pic I was just like 'omg I look so awful, aren't I ugly ' and I've felt like that ever since. I don't say it anyone other than dh though (and a close friend) as people think I'm talking rubbish and that I should just pull myslef together and shut up moaning etc. Also I think if I draw attention to my insecurities then everyone who hasn't noticed the bits I don't like, will notice and thats not what I need either!!

Then over the years people have made a few comments and I just remember them. Of course people have said nice things too...but your brain has a wierd way of making you remember the horrid things doesn't it??

OMG I am rambling. Sorry Please ignore me...

scout I really hope this new cloud doesn't spoil your trip. Fingers crossed.
fidelma great news about sleep. What are you doing that is different??
ploppy My ds1 is 7 and dd is 4.

littlepea72 · 05/05/2010 14:19

Mel everyone feels like that about something, and as for us thinking your fishing....dont, didnt even think that for a minute. I used to have a great size 10 figure, all it took was someone to say something nasty, and i dropped to a size 6. Didnt make me happy, only hungry lol....but now after all these years, im still unhappy about my weight & always will be.

fidelma · 05/05/2010 15:03

Princess Great to vent on here.Trust me you are gorgeous, try and enjoy who you are.I love you

With Connors sleep I started by only giving him a dream feed and one other feed during the night. If he wakes I leave him to cry and fall back to sleep. If he cries hard or for to long.I pick him up and settle him.
Last night I didn't do the dream feed as he was sound asleep. He woke at midnight so I fed him.He them woke at 4am and he self settled and 4.15am where I cuddled him and put him back down where again he self settled. And that was it until 7am.
I started this on Monday where he woke about 6 times.
Tuesday 3 times
Last night 2x
Soooo much better.

scout I hope to keep the ash cloud over us.I will cross everything x

mistressploppy · 05/05/2010 16:00

Princess I don't know you yet, but it's very good for you to get it all out, so type away, it sounds like you have some good friends on here and we're all happy to listen

Enjoy voting {gets lump in throat at thought of exercising democratic right}

PM Sorry to hear that you feel unhappy about the way you look, no-one on here would think you were a fishing-for-compliments type of gal, but you are really lovely, hope you find your way out of the gloom! x

Smallone still nothing from you of late, are you ok?

ploppy just saw your bf and weaning worries on another thread, TOTALLY the same here. Annalise used to feed 45-60mins per feed, but now only 10mins for the 2 daytime feeds, and I am worried, seeing as she's so darn tiny and eats ok, but not lots... Nothing to suggest other than I guess monitor weight and nappy output, but even then hard to know what to do. No idea if its the right thing to do, but I add full-fat natural yoghurt, or butter, or cream cheese to most of A's food, and she's still pottering along on the 1st centile.
As a friend of mine with a very small 7 month old (who had to stop bf as her supply dropped due to a new (planned!!) pregnancy) said, 'now you worry exactly about how much they AREN'T taking' when you see the mini amounts taken from a bottle . And I'm a bit older than your DH, was at PS in 1992/3
